Item #: SCP-XXXX
Object: Keter
Special Containment Procedures:
Description: SCP-XXXX is an entity resembling an fissure that can traverse on any kind of solid matter, which it accomplishes by locomoting in a manner similar to a snake. SCP-XXXX presence inherently damages the material it is inhabiting, creating additional fissures that stem directly from its main body. Upon being transferred to another object, the original object that SCP-XXXX inhabited will have any damages afflicted on it be reversed. Transference requires two or more objects making physical contact with each other; separation of affected objects will be unsuccessful as they will temporarily be bonded on the atomic level. Separation is only possible when SCP-XXXX fully inhabits a single object. SCP-XXXX's existence is not limited to exterior surfaces, as its fully capable of penetrating deep in the object's interior.
SCP-XXXX display signs of sentience, it's hunting state consists of acquiring additional fissures made on other materials. When SCP-XXXX views a fissure it will take the most direct route to the designated object. When inhabiting said object it will make contact with the fissure and absorb it into its main body before entering a passive state. This behavior was used as a survival mechanism to maintain its form, but due to interference from the Global Occult Coalition, it can self-sustain itself indefinitely.
SCP-XXXX's passive state consists of it making various shapes and figures with its body, frequently and repeatedly avoiding protrusions or markings on the object its inhabiting, and locomoting in a particular direction for random periods of time. It's been theorized that the reason for this behavior is that is suffering extreme boredom and its using these methods for entertainment purposes. SCP-XXXX will enter an aggressive state if its physically provoked in either its hunting or passive state.
SCP-XXXX enters its aggressive state when a sentient being intentionally strikes against SCP-XXXX or destroy the object it is currently inhabiting. SCP-XXXX will first absorb any fissures created by the assault, then make a path directly to the offending subject and will attempt to attach itself to them. If successful, SCP-XXXX will inevitably expand and envelop the subject's body in the form of multiple deep branching cuts. The subject will invariably expire from either blood loss or the destruction of vital organs before violently separating into many variably-sized pieces. SCP-XXXX will then leave from multiple segments of the body, merge back into a single form and resume either one of its two states.
History: SCP-XXXX became known to the Foundation on 08/04/2020 when videos and internet posts began circulating online of it absorbing a multitude of fissures on a sidewalk in San Juan Capistrano, California. MTF Epsilon-6 ("Village Idiots") was deployed to the area but faced difficulty in capturing SCP-XXXX due to the nature of the anomaly. MTF Epsilon-6 eventually subdued SCP-XXXX by placing a fractured brick in its path, allowed it to inhabit the object and quickly inserted it into a bucket filled with sand1 from a nearby playground. All references regarding SCP-XXXX had been removed from the internet and all witnesses were administered Class-A amnestics.
SCP-XXXX was delivered to Site-77 after being granted SCP object status. The method MTF Epsilon-6 used on the entity was incorporated into its containment (See Archived Containment Procedures.) Upon becoming head researcher, Dr. Chet Duson commenced a series of tests to determine the extent of SCP-XXXX's anomalous properties.
After 7 months of successful containment of SCP-XXXX, Site-77 fell victim to a powerful earthquake that occurred in the vicinity. Though no personnel or anomalies were lost, it resulted in SCP-XXXX being freed from its containment chamber allowing the entity to escape Site-77 and disappear into the clearing of a nearby forest. Following failure to find SCP-XXXX after the lockdown was lifted, a was designated to a moderate-level search priority.
Addendum-01 Diplomatic Issues: SCP-XXXX later resurfaced two months later within Rome, Italy after reports of it emerged of it absorbing various fissures within the Colosseum. SCP-XXXX was contained using similar methods used in first contact and was transferred to Site-43 due to it possessing advanced earthquake-resistant architecture. Dr. Duson also transferred to Site-43 to resume his research on the object.
Several days later, a representative of the Council of 108 from the GOC contacted the Foundation on concerns they wished to discuss in private. A meeting was scheduled with both parties in hopes that an agreement could be reached on issue at hand.
Following the conclusion of the meeting, 05-8 brought the issue concerning SCP-XXXX to the rest of the 05 Council. After much deliberation, it was decided on a vote of (7-4) that the transference of SCP-XXXX from the Foundation to GOC custody was approved on 05/27/2021. Dr. Duson expressed extreme dismay over the decision citing the potential research opportunities but ultimately allowed custody to be revoked. Daniel Burchard was pleased with the decision and wrote a letter to the Foundation that they were forbidden of interfering any further involvement of matters related to SCP-XXXX with the threat of severe penalties.
Addendum-02 Escalation: the GOC had proceeded with destruction of SCP-XXXX via dissolvement in acid. Before destruction could be carried out, SCP-XXXX shattered the copper block it was inhabiting on its own initiative and the pieces made contact with the floor as a result. SCP-XXXX left the remnants of the block and receded into the lower levels of the facility, eventually escaping underground. Daniel Burchard was infuriated with the loss of SCP-XXXX and severely disciplined all involved GOC personnel.
Since then, SCP-XXXX had reemerged in various parts of Europe attempting to resume its hunting behavior but was frequently interrupted by GOC forces which attempted to capture and/or terminate the entity. These termination methods often involved physically destroying the material or SCP-XXXX was inhabiting. These actions resulted in SCP-XXXX growing in size, apparently nullifying the need for it to gain sustenance. After this occurred, SCP-XXXX went into hiding and became inactive for a short period of time.
It is not known when SCP-XXXX began to deviate from its normal behavior but on 08/02/2021, it preemptively attacked a group of GOC operatives who were in the process of launching a raid against a Serpent's Hand hideout. Video footage and witness testimony suggested that SCP-XXXX waited for the operatives to arrive then ambushed them while distracted during the firefight, killing the majority of them before receding into the ground.
Since this incident, SCP-XXXX has demonstrated a new variant of its aggressive behavior. SCP-XXXX became highly active, producing a series attacks on individuals and locations associated with the GOC at an increasing and alarming rate. Below is a partial list of known or believed attacks caused by SCP-XXXX.
| Date | Location | Event |
|---|---|---|
| 08/07/2021 | Paris, France | Several individuals were found torn to shreds within the top floor of the █████ ██████ Hotel. The injuries inflicted matched those caused by SCP-XXXX. It was later discovered that the victims were GOC agents that were off-duty and had been renting the room until they gotten permission to leave the country. The witness who first came to the scene, a maid, claimed she barged in their room upon hearing frantic screaming whiles cleaning the hall and swore it saw the wall becoming cracked before repairing itself. Individual was administered amnestics by the GOC and cleaned up the evidence under the pretense of a police investigation. |
| 08/29/2021 | Horn Lake, U.S. | A GOC military bunker became subject to attack during the night when most of the operatives were asleep. SCP-XXXX killed a total of thirty two operatives in total before the base's alarm was turned on. It was claimed that one of the operatives woke up and witnesses SCP-XXXX traveling up on each of the bunker beds and onto the bodies of the sleeping operatives. Unlike most encounters, SCP-XXXX killed them in a subtle manner, silently positioning itself across their necks. This caused all blood vessel inside the neck to be lacerated allowing death from exsanguination. SCP-XXXX also disconnected the upper spinal column resulted in its victims becoming immobilized during this process. The remaining operatives attempted to leave the sleeping quarters but found the open spaces between the doors to be absent, functionally sealing entry to the hall. The operatives then decided to escape through breaking the windows and jumping down from two stories below. SCP-XXXX tried to follow the operatives but was forced to flee when additional GOC forces arrived. SCP-XXXX was designated as a high-level threat shortly after this incident and dedicated significant resources for terminating the entity. Most notable of this incident was that SCP-XXXX managed to travel across two continents, suggesting it traveled deep in the Earth's crust to reach that location. |
| 09/18/2021 | Darwin, Australia | A minor earthquake was detected in the area by Foundation sources. It was discovered that the earthquake originated from an experimental R&D facility owned by the GOC. Survivors claimed that the facility began shaking heavily before a sink hole formed under the building, causing the structure the collapse and become trapped deep within the earth, resulting in losses of millions of dollars. Similar incidents became common after this incident, suggested that it was due in part from SCP-XXXX. |
| 10/04/2021 | Bago, Myanmar | A meeting between high-level government officials and GOC representatives were interrupted by the appearance of SCP-XXXX. SCP-XXXX focused its attack solely on the representatives but inadvertently gravely injured the officials, including the president. This incident caused relations between the two to deteriorate and caused the reputation of the GOC to deteriorate worldwide. |
| 10/15/2021 | Jeonju, South Korea | Shortly after SCP-XXXX being ranked on the GOC's priority list, a proposal was presented by Daniel Burchard to the rest of the 108. This proposal detailed the use of an experimental task force consisted of proficient reality benders conditioned through the use of amnestics and advanced hypnosis, and was outfitted with miniature explosives sown into their chest in case of rebellion. This task force was deployed upon hearing reports that SCP-XXXX was in South Korea. The task force located SCP-XXXX and attempted to terminate it using their reality bending capabilities. Instead, this resulted |
