The Disappearance of Myanstatine

Day 1:

Dr. Kowalski: Can you repeat that one more time, please?

Chief of Security Lorenzo: It's gone. All of it. Fucking vanished out of nowhere!

Dr. Kowalski: How is that possible? We had 24-hour surveillance, all of our staff was focused on the city. Any pedestrians left?

Chief of Security Lorenzo: No. No buildings, no people, nothing. How does an entire city vanish in the blink of an eye?

Dr. Kowalski: Have security check the tapes. There has to be something we've missed. Go, Go!

Chief of Security Lorenzo exits the office.

Dr. Kowalski: Shit.

Dr. Maurice Kowalski, director of Site-263, Project Rejuvenation - Day 13.

As of approximately…22 minutes prior to this tape, the city of Myanstatine has disappeared. No structural remains, no civilians, the city has disappeared without a trace. We are currently unsure of Myanstatine's whereabouts, no one's seen a thing…How the hell does an entire city disappear in less than a second? I've seen concrete sculptures that snap necks, murderous plague doctors, and yet I've never seen a city disappear. Fuck…how am I going to report this? At least I still have my crew…and my whiskey.

Day 2:

1st Conference Meeting Recording

Dr. Reynolds: Why are we still here? We should tell the Foundation that Myanstatine is gone! We can't just sit around.

**Cyber Operations Specialist (C.O.S.) Anglin: We should focus on tracking its whereabouts. It didn't just disappear, it must have gone somewhere.

Reynolds: This wouldn't have happened if our security team did their job properly.

Lorenzo: Hey, fuck you Rachael. We had all of our eyes on that city 24-7. It's not our fault it disappeared.

Kowalski: Everyone, please calm down. We're supposed to be professionals. *sigh*… None of us knew that this was going to happen. There is no one to blame, not the medical team, security team, no one. Now, we need to contact the Foundation to tell them of this mishap. Anglin, I want you to contact the O-5, and tell them that "Project Rejuvenation" is discontinued until further notice. Also, have your recon team scan the area for any signs of Myanstatine.

Anglin: Yes, sir.

Kowalski: Lorenzo, I want you to rewatch the security footage to see what we've missed. See if you can tell where the city disappeared went. Have your team scan the area where Myanstatine used to be, to see if there is anything that we can use to track it.

Lorenzo: On it boss.

Kowalski: Reynolds, interview the D-Class at Bunker 12. See if any of them know what happened, if they saw anything or not.

Reynolds: The D-Class aren't going to talk to me, they despise me.

Kowalski: We need all the intel we can get, Rachael. Now please, interview them.

Reynolds: *sigh* Fine.

Kowalski: Good. We need everyone on deck, so rally your teams. Debrief them on the situation and then get to it. We need to find Myanstatine at all costs. Dismissed.

[BEGIN TAPE]

Dr. Maurice Kowalski, director of Site-263, Project Rejuvenation - Day 14.

Everyone was super rowdy today, especially the security team. Can you really blame them? An entire city vanished, and we have no clue where it went. No one knows what happened. Reynolds interviewed all of the D-Class, and not a single one knows how it disappeared. Anglin's recon team scanned the area for any trace of the city, they couldn't find anything. Lorenzo's team combed the desert to find any traces of the city, again nothing. We tried establishing contact with the Foundation, but our satellites only picked up static. So, we're stuck in the desert, away from all society, and we lost the one thing that we were assigned to watch. God…everyone keeps coming to me with questions about our new directive. Couldn't give any of them a definitive answer.

I'm just going to rest and check back in tomorrow morning. Hopefully we'll have everything cleared up by then.

Day 3:

2nd Conference Meeting Recording

Kowalski: Anglin, any luck trying to establish communication?

Anglin: No sir, no luck. We've tried rewiring the console, adjusting the dish, but nothing. All we hear is static.

Kowalski: Lovely. Lorenzo, I want you to set up a team to go find the nearest outpost. Be sure to pack plenty of rations. Site-348 should be about fifteen clicks north.

Lorenzo: Will do, sir.

Kowalski: Reynolds, how are our supply levels?

Reynolds: Plenty of water and medical supplies, but our water supply is low. Got only a few days before we run out.

Kowalski: Shit…best we can do now is half our rations. Supply all D-class with half of the water you've been giving them. And please, do not tell them that our water rations are low. If they find out, we're all fucked. (Kowalski takes a sip out of his flask) Dismissed.

Dr. Maurice Kowalski, director of… who am I kidding? I know who I am.

Lorenzo's men set of to find the nearest outpost, probably take twelve hours until they get back. We still cannot contact the Foundation, we're out on our own. Myanstatine is still nowhere to be found. Anglin's doing his best, but it seems like the city just disappeared off the face of the Earth. It seems like everything bad that could have happened did happen. But all in a days work, I suppose. (Kowalski takes a sip from his flask)

Completely off topic, but when I look at the night sky, I don't see a single star. Not a single one. The sky is just…empty, like a husk. Ah, I'm probably just tired. I'm going to head to bed, see if that helps.
