Sad Little Dino

Item #: SCP-XXXX

Object Class: Safe

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is to be contained within a 2 x 3 metre cell with an observation window containing one way glass. The cell is to be furnished with a child's bed and bookshelves lining the remaining wall space, measuring no higher than 0.5 metres in height. The bookshelves are to be filled with picture/colouring/activities books appropriate for 3-8 year old children as well as A4 paper for additional drawing activities.

Pens or pencils that contain sharp points must not be introduced to the containment cell. Drawing tools are limited to crayons, chalk and felt tip pens with the tips measuring more than 1 centimetre in diameter.

SCP-XXXX does not require food or water. Research is on-going whether SCP-XXXX requires sleep or is simply mimicking this behaviour from past experiences.

Research staff are to monitor SCP-XXXX every 4 hours and take notes on the entities current activities and behaviour. Interviews may be performed with a minimum of 8 hours passing in between sessions. Interviews line of questioning should be focused on SCP-XXXX's current mental state and details about the circumstances of its current physical state. Should the entity display an unwillingness to continue an avenue of discussion, research staff are advised to change the subject towards the SCP-XXXX's recent drawings and any books it has recently read. If the interview can be completed with SCP-XXXX in a positive mental state, this is advisable for long term containment.

New information about SCP-XXXX's abilities and the circumstances that have to lead it to its current situation are currently considered the primary goal of interviews. If SCP-XXXX becomes unresponsive and actively avoids research staff during interview attempts, toys appropriate for 3-8 year old children are permitted to be introduced to SCP-XXXX's containment cell and the entity is to be notified that this is a "gift". This has proven to a reliable method of coaxing SCP-XXXX into cooperating again.

Research staff wishing to introduce toys to SCP-XXXX's containment cell must have the item reviewed by Dr. Parker for any potential to cause damage to SCP-XXXX's material body.

Description: SCP-XXXX is a stuffed dinosaur teddy approximately 36 centimetres tall and weighing approximately 200 grams. SCP-XXXX is made entirely of synthetic fibres except for its eyes which are made of a hard plastic. The only damage evident on SCP-XXXX are fading and scratches on the eyes as well as the lack of any stuffing in the entities arms. Closer examination reveals that SCP-XXXX had been repaired at some point but evidently was not give any replacement stuffing in its arms.

SCP-XXXX is animate and sentient, displaying the behaviour and intelligence of a 5 year old child. SCP-XXXX is capable of functional movement however the general rigidness of SCP-XXXX's construction makes quick or precise movement difficult. The arms are notable for being the only part of the body that can move organically and with a degree of fluidity, lending credence to the theory that the SCP-XXXX's difficulty to move around its containment quickly is a direct result of its current body.

SCP-XXXX cannot speak however has demonstrated that it can see and hear within the parameters of an ordinary human child. The entity is able to communicate through writing only, having to use both its arms to manipulate drawing tools. The time it takes for SCP-XXXX to write a new message has been measured between 13 and 264 seconds, depending on complexity. Messages are most of the time only 2 or 3 words long. Whether this is as a result of SCP-XXXX's writing skill or a lack of strength in its arms is currently unknown.

Preliminary Psyche Evaluation of SCP-XXXX
