Item #: SCP-XXXX
Object Class: Keter
Special Containment Procedures: Three fake documents describing SCP-XXXX are to be on the Foundation database. If any unauthorized personnel read the documents, medical staff are to be sent to their location, and they are to be administered class A Amnestics1.
100% true information about SCP-XXXX is to be only told to a group of 20 people with high memetic resistance along with one doctor, one researcher, and O5-3, all who also have high memetic resistance. This group is to browse websites that have been shown to include any information about SCP-XXXX and to immediately take down said information. They are to do this in half day cycles, with one half of them sleeping through one cycle while the others do work. This system is put in place in order for the group to not become sleep deprived while doing their work. If any of these group members begin to fall under the memetic effect of SCP-XXXX, they are to be given Class A Amnestics and re-taught the information. They are to be monitored for 48 hours afterward in order to be sure that effects do not persist. If this does not work, they are to be [DATA REMOVED, INSERT CREDENTIALS] administered Class E Amnestics and a replacement is to be searched for and obtained.
The group in charge of containing SCP-XXXX are to be contained themselves in an isolation room to be sure they do not accidentally (or purposefully) spread information of SCP-XXXX. This room is to contain approximately ten computers, ten beds, two shelves, one bathroom area, and food and water. The only time any Foundation personnel besides the group are to be allowed inside the isolation room is when food and water need to be delivered. This delivery is to be very short. If any Foundation personnel are seen conversing with the group they are to be administered class A amnestics.
Testing the effects of SCP-XXXX is to be carried out only with permission from O5-3 and is to only be done in a highly secure room with two observation windows. Testing the effects of SCP-XXXX is currently closed as the Foundation has currently gained all knowledge required to contain SCP-XXXX.
Description: SCP-XXXX is a memetic virus that has shown its anomalous properties once people begin to learn about it. Once people begin to learn about it, they have been shown to want to learn more. They can experience mood swings, depression, and even amnesia. They have shown to go through great lengths to be able to learn more about SCP-XXXX. With some people even attempting to hack into the Foundation website in order to understand SCP-XXXX more. SCP-XXXX has been shown to be able to communicate with people through the internet; however, it has refused interviews.
The internet is SCP-XXXX's main means of spreading. SCP-XXXX has been shown to be able to change text on major websites to match sentences on this document. It can also change video and audio files as well. The changes range from small segments of a person reading this file, to changing the entire audio file to some of the same phrases that come from this file.
Once a person has learned everything it can about SCP-XXXX, that person will begin to spread that information to other people, thus infecting more people. They will not stop attempting to infect people unless terminated or a primary human need is needed to be carried out. The effects of SCP-XXXX can be slowed down or in some cases stopped with amnestics; however, it is more advisable to terminate people infected with SCP-XXXX.
Addendum XXXX-A: Experiment Log XXXX
Subject: D-1675
Test Parameters D-1675 is to be exposed to three sentences of SCP-XXXX's document
Result: Upon D-1675 reading the 3 sentences, D-1675 was asked how they felt. D-1675 did not respond and instead began flipping the document that the three sentences were written on over multiple times, presumably to see if there was any information he missed. Upon realizing that there were only 3 sentences, D-1675 began reacting violently, repeatedly asking to see more of SCP-XXXXs document and attempting to assault Dr. Piedmont. D-1675 was promptly terminated and the document describing SCP-XXXX was incinerated
Subject: D-7296
Test Parameters: D-7296 is to be exposed to one word of SCP-XXXX's document with the context that it is specifically about SCP-XXXX
Result: Upon D-7296 reading the word, D-7296 was asked how they felt. D-7296 responded with, "Confused, but otherwise fine". D-7296 was then locked in the testing chamber for 48 hours. Over the course of that time, D-7296 became increasingly obsessed with the document the word was written on, and in the last 3 hours became extremely agitated. D-7296 was then terminated after shouting several expletives at the observation team and beginning to ram himself into the wall
Subject: D-8623
Test Parameters: D-8623 is to listen to two random sentences from this document and is to be given a Foundation laptop with easy access to the SCP database.
Result: Upon listening to the audio file, D-8623 immediately opened the Foundation laptop and began scrolling through the database, Any attempts at conversation were ignored and D-8623 accessed SCP-XXXXs file in approximately 1 minute and 37 seconds. D-8623 was terminated shortly after and the computer's search history was cleared.
Subject: D-4627
Test Parameters: D-4627 is to listen to a heavily distorted copy of the first sentence of each main body of this document and is to be given a standard laptop with no easy access to the SCP database
Result: [DATA REMOVED, INSERT CREDENTIALS] Upon the recording being finished, D-4627 displayed signs of confusion and was subsequently locked in the testing chamber. After one hour, D-4627 asked for the audio recording to be played again. After the recording not being played again, D-4627 went onto the laptop that was provided to her. D-4627 had not attempted to get on the SCP Database for the first 15 minutes. However, after the 15-minute mark, D-4627 had paused all internet activity for 1 minute. Afterward, D-4627 had immediately logged onto the Foundation website and accessed SCP-XXXXs file soon after. All attempts to see how D-4627 had logged onto the Foundation website with no input have thus far proven unsuccessful. D-4627 was terminated and the computer's history was cleared.
Addendum XXXX-B:
Note From Dr. Henry Piedmont: SCP-XXXX has infected at least [DATA REMOVED, INSERT CREDENTIALS] people at this point, we either need to update the [DATA REMOVED, INSERT CREDENTIALS] or add more people to that group. There is no reason that this is [DATA REMOVED, INSERT CREDENTIALS]. We need to [DATA
REMOVED, INSERT CREDENTIALS].
