Item #: SCP-XXXX
Object Class: Safe
Special Containment Procedures: Due to SCP-XXXX's usefulness and overall safety when used correctly, SCP-XXXX should be kept in the Infirmary and may be used by Medical Personnel to the benefit of the Foundation Staff. It should be kept in the Eye-Wear section of the Level-2 Security Infirmary Storage Room in a labeled 7in x 2in x 3in box when not in use.
If needed by a Foundation Staff member, a member of Medical Personnel may retrieve SCP-XXXX and instruct said Staff member on how to properly use it. Once they are finished using SCP-XXXX, all instances of SCP-XXXX-1 may be organized by prescription and stored for later use and SCP-XXXX may be returned to the storage room.
Description: SCP-XXXX is a standard-size glasses case measuring 6in x 1in x 2.5in. Once the case is closed, it has the ability to create inside itself a pair of glasses, here on referred to as an instance of SCP-XXXX-1, that perfectly corrects the vision of whoever opens the case. If the opener has perfect vision, then the case will not produce an instance of SCP-XXXX-1. Every instance of SCP-XXXX-1 has a logo on the inside of the left arm reading "Lambert & Jefferson Optometry".
It should be noted though, that each instance of SCP-XXXX-1 will have random, though usually pleasing, frames. Staff members are permitted to open SCP-XXXX multiple times to get more suitable frames, however, SCP-XXXX must not have an instance of SCP-XXXX-1 currently inside it before it can create a new one. All unwanted instances of SCP-XXXX-1 should be labeled, organized, and properly stored for possible future use by other Staff members. Not humans opening SCP-XXXX will also receive an instance of SCP-XXXX-1, pertaining to their size, if they have non-perfect vision, as seen in SCP-XXXX-T3.
If a lensless glasses frame is placed in the case and then closed, the next instance of SCP-XXXX-1 formed will have those frames. In test SCP-XXXX-T4, it was discovered that the frames on the created instance of SCP-XXXX-1 are not the same as the ones put in. They are in fact replicas, with any markings, scratches, or cracks removed/fixed. This does cause the lenses that were taken out of that glasses frame prior to the closing of the case to disintegrate. This lens-disintegration seems to be caused by immense heat created in and around the lenses, though the method this heat is formed through is unknown.
Containment: SCP-XXXX was discovered after a man named ███████ █████████ called a local hospital believing he was suffering from short-term memory loss after always being able to find his glasses in their case, even after they were broken, dropped into unreachable places, or simply misplaced. He even claimed to have found multiple of his previous pairs of glasses, which all had different frames.
He did not understand how he had acquired so many pairs of glasses and believed he was going insane. He was driven to the hospital by an ambulance (as he did not feel comfortable driving at his current mental state) and tested for different types of amnesia and other mental illnesses. Aside from anxiety, which he already took medicine for, no other illnesses were revealed.
An investigator was sent to search the house for possible signs of carbon monoxide leaks (the most likely explanation for his memory loss) and to recover the glasses case. The investigator opened the glasses case and inside was a pair of glasses of his prescription. He took this to the local police station, who (after testing it themselves) reported it to higherups, who then contacted the Foundation. A dispatch group was sent in to recover SCP-XXXX and all instances of SCP-XXXX-1 and administer Class-A Amnestics to all witnesses of SCP-XXXX.

| SCP-XXXX-T1 | Nov. 9, 19██ | A D-Class with a prescription of +0.50 in both eyes is put in a room with empty SCP-XXXX and told to open it. | The D-Class opens SCP-XXXX, revealing an instance of SCP-XXXX-1. The D-Class puts the instance of SCP-XXXX-1 on and tells staff that he can see clearly. A simple eye exam is performed and proves their claims to be correct. | (Tests 1-4 were headed by Dr. H██████ B█████.) "This was just a simple test to confirm that SCP-XXXX does, in fact, work as intended for cataloging purposes." - Dr. B |
| SCP-XXXX-T2 | Nov. 9, 19██ | A D-Class with perfect vision is put in a room with empty SCP-XXXX and told to open it. | The D-Class opens SCP-XXXX revealing that nothing is inside. | "Another simple test with the same reasoning as SCP-XXXX-T1." - Dr. B |
| SCP-XXXX-T3 | Nov. 10, 19██ | A Venezuelan Red Howler (Alouatta seniculus) with a prescription of +1.00 in his left eye and +1.25 in his right (acquired through laser scans) is put in a room with his trainer and SCP-XXXX. The trainer then tells the monkey to open the case (he was shown how to do this with a different glasses case by his trainer beforehand). | The monkey opens SCP-XXXX, revealing an instance of SCP-XXXX-1 matching the size of his head and his prescription. | "This shows that SCP-XXXX's effect works on other species than just humans." - Dr. B |
| SCP-XXXX-T4 | Nov. 11, 19██ | A D-Class with stereoblindness1 is put in a room with empty SCP-XXXX and told to open it. | The D-Class opens SCP-XXXX, revealing a pair of 3D glasses from the nearest cinema, ███████ Theater. Both the D-Class and the researchers chuckled a bit but were astonished when, after putting on the glasses, the D-Class claimed his stereoblindness was cured. A simple eye exam is performed and proves their claims to be correct. | "This instance of SCP-XXXX-1 has no features that would show this kind of result to occur when worn. This should be looked into with other types of visual impairments." - Dr. B |
| SCP-XXXX-T5 | Mar. 11, 20██ | A D-Class with a prescription of -0.75 in both eyes was put in a room with SCP-XXXX, inside which was a pair of glasses with a prescription of +1.25 in the left lens and +1.00 in the right lens, and told to open it. | The D-Class opens SCP-XXXX revealing an instance of SCP-XXXX-1 with the same frames as the pair of glasses put in. The D-Class puts on the instance of SCP-XXXX-1 and tells staff he can see clearly. A simple eye exam is performed and proves his claims to be correct. | (Tests 5-8 were headed by Dr. G██████ J████████.) "We were wondering whether or not SCP-XXXX could change the prescriptions of other pairs of glasses and this test has proved that it can. Our next test will be on whether or not the frames and lenses in the instance of SCP-XXXX-1 are the same as the ones put in." - Dr. J |
| SCP-XXXX-T6 | Mar. 11, 20██ | A D-Class with a prescription of -0.25 in both eyes was put in a room with SCP-XXXX, in which was placed a pair of black glasses frames with no lenses and a broken arm, and told to open it. | The D-Class opens SCP-XXXX, revealing an instance of SCP-XXXX-1 which has the same frames as the pair of glasses placed in SCP-XXXX, however, the broken arm has been fixed. Lenses have also been put in. The D-Class puts on the instance of SCP-XXXX-1 and tells staff he can see clearly. A simple eye exam is performed and proves his claims to be correct. | "This test reveals that SCP-XXXX can repair/replace the frames placed inside it and put lenses into said frames. Our next test will be about what happened to the lenses that were previously in these frames, as, after this test, we were unable to locate them." - Dr. J |
| SCP-XXXX-T7 | Mar. 13, 20██ | A D-Class with a prescription of +0.50 in his left eye and +0.75 in his right is put in a room with SCP-XXXX, in which was placed a red pair of heart-shaped frames with no lenses, and told to open it. The lenses previously in these frames were placed into a small clear box for easy visibility and note-taking during testing. | The D-Class opens SCP-XXXX, revealing an instance of SCP-XXXX-1 with red, heart-shaped frames. The D-Class puts them on and tells staff that he can see clearly. A simple eye exam is performed and proves their claims to be correct. The lenses previously in the frames disintegrated as the D-Class was opening SCP-XXXX. | "This test possibly shows that the lenses (and possibly the frames) for each instance of SCP-XXXX-1 are taken from somewhere else in the world, but if frames are placed inside SCP-XXXX, the lenses taken are the last ones to have been in the frames." - Dr. J |
| SCP-XXXX-T8 | Mar. 13, 20██ | A D-Class with a prescription of +1.00 in both eyes is put in a room with SCP-XXXX, in which was placed a Black Rat (Rattus rattus), and told to open it. | The D-Class opens SCP-XXXX, revealing [REDACTED]. [REDACTED] began to [REDACTED] causing all instances of SCP-XXXX-1 to begin [REDACTED]. MTF Epsilon-11 ("Nine-Tailed Fox") was dispatched to the facility in order to terminate all instances of SCP-XXXX-2. There were [REDACTED] casualties and $4,███,███,███ in damages. | Containment procedures have been updated to accommodate new knowledge of the properties of SCP-XXXX. |
