'The Garage Flower'
Item #: SCP-xxxx
Object Class: Safe
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is to be contained in a standard containment cell with the addition of a patch of soil that is watered regularly with a ceiling mounted sprinkler and a UV lamp mounted to the ceiling. A commercially available mirror is to be attached to the door of SCP-XXXX'S cell.
Description: SCP-XXXX is a crysanthemum that is both sentient, and ambulatory, travelling using its roots when not planted, although it's movement is too slow to be a threat. In the absence of sunlight, SCP-xxxx can create energy by absorbing new information. New information may only be relayed to SCP-xxxx by a researcher with level 3 clearance for the purpose of testing.
SCP-xxxx emits a unique signal that can be translated into binary via a computer terminal allowing for text-based communication with SCP-xxxx.
All information relayed to SCP-xxxx must be read from a clearly visible source (e.g. a book, dossier or mobile phone screen). If new information is relayed to SCP-xxxx without the presence of a source for staff to read from, SCP-xxxx will react with hostility, and refuse to interact amicably with said staff member again, often insulting staff, or accusing them of 'being arrogant'
SCP-xxxx suffers from narcissistic personality disorder and delusions of grandeur, making communication difficult. After observing several failed interviews, Dr Celia Rhys has devised a series of guidelines for appropriate communication with SCP-xxxx, available to all Level 2 staff.
- Do not contradict SCP-xxxx
- Do not introduce information to SCP-xxxx orally without an appropriate prop
- Falsehoods presented by SCP-xxxx should be treated as fact
- For optimal agreeability, it is recommended researchers approach SCP-xxxx with an air of appreciation and reverence.
Recovery Log: SCP-xxxx was discovered on 02/03/20 in Cowbridge, Wales alongside the body of Ivor Green, a retired farmer, in Mr Green's home after local police performed a wellness check.
Initial police reports describe finding a crysanthemum on Mr. Green's bed, along with a trail of soil leading to a large clay pot in the centre of the living room.
The unusual nature of the crime scene attracted the attention of Foundation plants in the local police force, and The Foundation took over the investigation.
When Foundation agents arrived at Mr. Green's house SCP-xxxx was no longer by Mr. Green's side, and was located in the house's garage. Location was straightforward, as a tape deck radio in the garage had started playing {an audiobook} shortly after the agents arrived. Recovery was likewise straightforward, due to SCP-xxxx's limited ability to react.
Interview Log
Interviewed: SCP-xxxx
Interviewer: Dr Celia Rhys
Foreword: After several interviews ended prematurely due to hostility from scp-xxxx, this is the first interview conducted with an assumed understanding of SCP-xxxx's hostility triggers.
<Begin Log>
Dr Rhys: Hello. My file on you says your name is SCP-XXXX, is that correct?
SCP-xxxx: CORRECT. DO I LOOK LIKE SOMEONE ELSE TO YOU
Dr. Rhys: You know what, SCP-xxxx? I guess it was a silly question.
SCP-xxxx: YES SILLY FUCKER. HA HA. WHY ARE YOU DIFFERENT
Dr. Rhys: What do you mean by different?
SCP-xxxx: YOU DONT COME TO ME ALL HIGH AND MIGHTY PRETENDER
Dr. Rhys: That might be the most insightful thing I've heard anyone say.
SCP-xxxx: YES
Dr. Rhys: In fact, I'm visiting you today to seek your wisdom on things I'm ignorant of, with your permission. Would you be willing to teach us about a man called Ivor Green?
SCP-XXXX: THERE IS LITTLE TO TEACH. IT IS UNSURPRISING YOU DON'T KNOW THIS.
Dr. Rhys: It is my hope that you could give a summary of the events leading up to Mr. Green's death.
SCP-XXXX: YES
SCP: IVOR GREW LOTS OF DULL PLANTS. HE WAS BLESSED WITH MY PRESENCE. AND MY IMMENSE BEAUTY OVERWHELMED HIS PRIMITIVE MIND. HE WAS BLIND TO SEE MY TRUE TALENTS. MY GENIUS.
Dr. Rhys:

Closing Statement: [Small summary and passage on what transpired afterward]
Item designation: SCP-XXXX
Object Class: Euclid (tentative)
Special Containment Procedures: All commercial Trans-Atlantic flights travelling within a 20km radius of SCP-XXXX are to be closely monitored by Foundation plants in air traffic control for deviations in the scheduled route. If a route is changed due to turbulence, Foundation plants are to ensure that no commercial flight approaches this 20km radius.

Description:
Dr. Rhys slapped her alarm. 5:30 am. She had finally found a rythmn with getting through these reports, and the tranquility of the early morning forest was the perfect backdrop for concentration.
She walked past Commander Matthias' and researcher Linh's bedroom doors, into the kitchen. It was still dark in the cabin, save for the light on the oven's overhead fan.
Coffee
She clicker on the electric kettle and started a coffee bean and salt-based ritual with the French press that had become all too-
"Could I trouble you for a cup?"
"Jesus, fuck!" Celia managed to interact with at least thirteen objects on the kitchen surface, making an obscene noise. She held her chest and exhaled. "You're awake?!"
"Why, what time is it?" Commander Matthias' eyes focused on the microwaves digital clock. "Ah. Never mind about the coffee, perhaps."
Officer Linh crashed into the room, half asleep, weapon drawn. Celia and Commander Matthias froze.
"Don't worry commander I got the intruder!" She yawned "oh, sorry" she holstered her weapon.
"Okay!" Commander Matthias slapped his hands on his knees and stood. "We've been at this for a week now, I think we've all earned a break for the day."
Had it really been a week already? Jesus, he was right.
A few weeks ago The Foundation's unofficial draft reviewing staff, often called The Butterfly Squad, had organised a new initiative; half relaxing retreat and half draft review boot camp.
These two week "Flights" were designed to equip Foundation staff at large with the skills needed for effective critique, under the mentorship of an experienced member of the Butterfly Squad.
Dr Rhys had long held an interest in The Foundation's draft critique process, having been on the receiving end of it herself. Admittedly, when she saw the brochure she was mostly drawn to the fine print:
Lodging and food expenses covered by Foundation.
Test Log xxxx-a
The purpose of this series of tests is to establish an outer limit of SCP-xxxx-1's capabilities, and discover any possible benefits it may bring the foundation. Site-288 was chosen for testing on account of its spacious test chamber. Head Researcher is Dr Celia Rhys.
Test A - Date
Procedure: D-612 given SCP-xxxx and told to trigger anomalous effects while pointing arm at test chamber wall 10 metres away.
Results: Affected limb made contact with wall and propelled towards that point in space at 94km/h. Subject was unharmed, but disoriented. Affected arm returned to normal.
Analysis: Subject retained no momentum. The subject's arm moves too fast to properly interact with it.
Test B - Date
Procedure: D-612 given SCP-xxxx and instructed to trigger anomalous effects while pointing arm at a sheet of paper 10 metres away. Test chamber wall is 15 metres away
Results: Subject's fist pierced the sheet of paper and made contact with test chamber wall at 137km/h
Analysis: We already knew the arm accelerates, but it can either pierce some materials, or pierce anything if allowed to build up sufficient speed.
Test C - Date
Procedure: D-612 given SCP-xxxx and instructed to trigger anomalous effects while pointing arm at a 0.5m thick lead block 30 metres away. D-2987 and D-448 instructed to restrain affected arm for further study.
Results: D-2987 and D-448 grabbed the arm of D-612 in an attempt to impede it's movement, however D-612's arm continued unimpeded until it hit the lead block, and showed no signs of deceleration. When D-612 accelerated towards the lead block (after making contact with the affected limb) D-2987 and D-448 were unable to move out of his way in time. D-2987 is currently recovering from 4 broken ribs and a fractured hip.
Analysis:
Test D - Date
Procedure: D-1972 given SCP-xxxx and told to trigger anomalous effects while pointing at a 0.5m thick lead block 50m away. Junior researcher Terriah and Junior researcher Landry instructed to sever affected limb using [REDACTED] at a distance of 15m from each other.
Results: A section of D-class-4's limb was successfully isolated. D-1972's fist continued it's trajectory to the lead block. D-1972 subsequently propelled towards the lead block at 195km/h. D-1972s affected limb was completely unharmed despite previous dismemberment. Extracted anomalous limb transfered to cold storage for further inspection.
Analysis: I wonder if we have any use for a 15m long length of human arm? Maybe bone marrow donation or something. Surprised to see the D-class make it out of this in one piece.
Test E - Date
Procedure: D-612 given SCP-xxxx and instructed to trigger anomalous effects while aiming affected arm in the direction of the following obstacles aligned on one path: one sheet of cardboard located 20m away, one brick wall, constructed on-site, located 50m away, one 0.5m thick steel wall located 80m away, and one 0.5m thick lead wall located 150m away. Test site wall located 300m away.
Results: D-612's anomalous limb pierced each of the obstacles in its path, including the wall of Site-288. The remains of D-612 were retrieved from within a 7.3m hole, roughly the size of the subject's fist, in Mt. [REDACTED] neighbouring Site-288.
Analysis: The acceleration curve of these anomalous arms has proven to be too unpredictable for continued testing. Testing suspended until more suitable testing chambers are available.
Foundation deep space satellites observed an unpredicted supernova along the trajectory path of SCP-xxxx-2's anomalous limb on ██/██/██ in the [REDACTED] galaxy. Credible cover story has been planted in civilian scientific journals successfully.
While there is no guarantee this unscheduled cosmic event is the result of SCP-xxxx-2, it is considered likely. The distance of the event from Earth and the date The Foundation recovered SCP-xxxx-2 would suggest that, left unobstructed, SCP-xxxx-1 instances are capable of Faster-Than-Light speed.
