Item #: SCP-XXXX
Object Class: Safe
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is to be firmly secured to the steel restraint apparatus suspended within its containment chamber at Site-23. SCP-XXXX is to be kept secured in the apparatus at all times, unless during approved testing. Maintenance inspections of SCP-XXXX’s holding apparatus to ensure working condition of equipment and complete immobility of SCP-XXXX should be performed weekly.
Under no circumstances should any personnel make physical contact with SCP-XXXX. In the case that physical contact is made with SCP-XXXX outside of proper testing conditions, the door of SCP-XXXX’s containment chamber should be hermetically sealed by security personnel on duty. Remote surveillance of the containment chamber should persist until decomposition of all available hosts inhibits mobility of SCP-XXXX enough for the recontainment team to overpower and resecure the subject to its holding apparatus.
Description: SCP-XXXX is a black, heavily modified high-tech stealth suit composed of an as of yet undetermined, manufactured material. Analysis of the fabric has revealed its composition to be some sort of engineered nanofiber capable of altering its own physical appearance via unknown means, as well as limited independent locomotion. The former ability is primarily utilized to modify the coloration and color patterns of SCP-XXXX to match its surrounding environment down to the minutest detail, rendering it nearly invisible to the naked eye when inanimate. When animate, minor light refractions and visual fluctuations are visible around SCP-XXXX’s mobile form, although they are difficult to identify. Specialized tissues on the hands, feet, and joints of SCP-XXXX almost entirely remove any audible noise from walking, running, crawling, or climbing, even in especially reverberate conditions. Further analysis of SCP-XXXX’s composite fibers to research and potentially duplicate these anomalous properties is currently awaiting approval.
When coming in contact with a living human being, SCP-XXXX will autonomously force the subject (herein referred to as ‘host’) to don itself via full envelopment of the body, beginning by externally accessing the host’s spine, and expanding across the back, limbs, head, and front, adapting its form to replicate the host’s body shape. Notably, however, SCP-XXXX will always orient its own general body shape to be facing in the opposite direction of the host’s original stature. In doing so, SCP-XXXX will forcibly conform the host’s body to face backwards, without ever turning it around. It has been observed that SCP-XXXX accomplishes this task by means of physical compression, which has resulted in severe injury to the head and limbs in all cases, and termination of the subject in most. Subjects that are not terminated through the reversal process often expire shortly after due to shock or blood loss. Due to the soundproofing nature of SCP-XXXX’s synthetic fabric, all noise created by this event is almost entirely smothered. After complete reversal, SCP-XXXX will activate its camouflage, and begin immediately searching for the nearest human being for envelopment, using the body of its host to improve its mobility. As of yet, there has been no observed end to this behavior.
Record: Notable Tests
Host Envelopment Observation Test 004
Test subject: D-6321 (middle-aged Latino male)
Date: 2/8/11
Observational notes:
First test of the envelopment process where host did not expire during reversal. Process lasted forty-nine (49) seconds, with vital signs reporting a heart rate until seventy-three (73) seconds after contact was made with SCP-XXXX.
Host Envelopment Observation Test 006
Test subjects: D-5456 (young adult Caucasian male), D-5778 (young adult Caucasian male)
Date: 2/15/11
Observational notes:
Tested reaction to two humans in chamber at one time. D-5456 was instructed to make contact with SCP-XXXX. Envelopment process lasted fifty (50) seconds, with host expiring due to injury to the brain during reversal. After host was completely enveloped, SCP-XXXX engaged camouflage. Thermal scans confirm SCP-XXXX immediately began moving in direction of D-5778 once camouflage was engaged. D-5778 did not seem to detect the approach of SCP-XXXX audibly or visibly. Enveloment [sic] of D-5778 lasted seventy-eight (78) seconds (SCP-XXXX discarded body of D-5456 as it enveloped new host, which extended envelopment time)
Host Envelopment Observational Test 009
Test subject: Common chimpanzee, age 4
Date: 3/2/11
Observational notes:
Minimal reaction from SCP-XXXX when subject made contact (fibers attached to subject’s fur and hands, but did not envelop)
Host Envelopment Observational Test 010
Test subjects: D-5926 (young adult Caucasian female), common chimpanzee, age 4
Date: 3/2/11
Observational notes:
D-5926 instructed to make contact with SCP-XXXX, envelopment process lasted forty-five (45) seconds. Host expired during reversal process due to injury to the brain. Once host was enveloped, SCP-XXXX engaged camouflage and stood outside of the entrance to the test chamber. SCP-XXXX did not make any attempt to make contact with or approach the chimpanzee.
Host Envelopment Observational Test 015
Test subjects: D-6009 (middle-aged African-American male), D-6039 (middle-aged Caucasian male)
Date: 3/24/11
Observational notes:
First case of subject surviving envelopment completely. Initial envelopment of D-6039 lasted fifty-two (52) seconds following contact with SCP-XXXX. Vital signs continued to show unsteady heart rate and breathing after D-6039 was discarded during envelopment of D-6009. D-6039 was removed from test chamber with some difficulty and given immediate aid, but injuries sustained were deemed too severe to allow an interview.
Addendum: D-6039 later passed away under staff care approximately four (4) hours after test. Cause of death: blood loss.

Host Envelopment Observational Test 016
Test subjects: D-6104 (young adult Latino male), D-6570 (middle-aged African-American male)
Date: 3/26/11
Observational notes:
D-6104 instructed to make contact. Envelopment process lasted twenty-five (25) seconds, with the host only being enveloped partway. Following partial envelopment, SCP-XXXX halted movement and did not engage camouflage. SCP-XXXX paused for eleven (11) seconds, then resumed envelopment of D-6104. Host expired due to injury to head and neck during reversal. Reason for change in behavior is unclear at this time.

Host Envelopment Observational Test 017
Test subjects: D-6570 (middle-aged African-American male), D-6200 (young adult Caucasian male)
Date: 3/27/11
Observational notes:
D-6200 instructed to make contact. Envelopment process lasted sixteen (16) seconds, with only partial envelopment of host. SCP-XXXX then immediately pursued D-6570 with difficulty. After several minutes, SCP-XXXX managed to make contact with D-6570 and begin envelopment process, which lasted fifty-five (55) seconds. Team sent in to try and retrieve D-6200, who was still alive and conscious. SCP-XXXX halted envelopment process of D-6570 to attack retrieval team, and was able to make contact with a staff member. Envelopment process lasted eighty (80) seconds. D-6200 was successfully removed from the test chamber and taken to medical center with injuries to both legs, left arm, and left side of torso.
Following this test, a request to investigate possibility of sentience/intelligence in SCP-XXXX is awaiting O5 approval.
Independent Locomotion Observational Test 001
Test subject: D-5785 (middle aged African-American female)
Date: 2/2/11
Observational notes:
Subject instructed to stand one foot away from SCP-XXXX, suspended in its restraint apparatus. Once subject moved within four (4) feet of apparatus, fibers of SCP-XXXX observed moving in “rippling” pattern. Within one (1) foot, material of suit moved notably. Subject described SCP-XXXX as “reaching out.” Behavior ceased when subject left test chamber.
