Item# SCP-4961
Object class: Euclid
Administration notice: due to incident #4961-C. Experimentation is banned. Appeals to site administration will be automatically rejected.

Special containment procedures:

Initial recovery procedures dated: 04/10/2019

—SCP-4961 is to be held in a single occupancy cryonic storage unit. This unit is to maintain a temperature of -200 degrees Celsius at all times. The unit should be capable of maintaining -200 degrees Celsius with up to 2000 degrees of heat being generated by its occupant.

A series of 8 explosive devices are to be installed along the internal structure of the cryonic storage unit. If the temperature inside the unit rises above 0 degrees Celsius these explosives should automatically trigger and terminate the occupant.—

Procedures revised due to better containment redundancies.

Revision-23/08/2020-Current

SCP 4961 is to be contained in a single occupancy Cryonic storage unit, this unit is to be stored in an airtight, hermetically sealed room at site 93. Cryonic unit is to be specialised to use pressurized argon cooled to 73 Degrees Kelvin (see operational manual for details)

The cryonic unit SCP-4961 is contained in is to be capable of scanning brain waves and adrenalin levels, these are to be monitored constantly by an assigned level 3 researcher, and emergency measures are to be initiated in case of high levels of stress induced by a nightmare or accidental awakening.

SCP-4961’s containment chamber is to have a unique ventilation system compared to the rest of site 93 and is to use a combination of neutral gasses cooled to 120 degrees kelvin to reduce risk of Pyrophoricity caused by the effects of SCP-4961 and de-oxidize any fire that may potentially manifest. Any staff entering the containment chamber are required to use airtight hazardous environment suits fitted to have their own oxygen supply. All suits are to be checked by inspection staff once weekly and before entry.

A small team of (9) members of mobile task force Epsilon-9 (“fire Eaters”) is to remain on standby at site 93. In the event of a containment failure, these are to assist in re-containment efforts.

Description
SCP-4961 is a human female of indeterminate age. The subjects arms, legs and lower torso are covered in burn scars, these likely indicate prior burn damage, however, some researchers believe these to be indicative of some form of pattern, links are still being explored, though nothing conclusive has yet been found.

SCP-4961 is capable of generating pyrophoric properties in any material it can see. SCP-4961’s control over this property is directly related to the objects emotional state, with elevated distress levels resulting in an increase in spontaneous oxidation through the object’s primary abilities.
While the subject is immune to the effects of its pyrophoria, lack of oxygen and high heat levels will still result in severe injury and potentially the death of the subject if not properly managed.

Recovery log: item #4961

SCP-4961 was included in a collection of anomalous objects recovered from the ‘Gru-p’ following the dissolution of the soviet union in 1992. The foundation located and contained these objects 12 kilometres north-east of Sevastopol, Ukraine. Recovered records indicate that the object was discovered and captured by the soviet union in 1985, for further information regarding soviet handling of SCP-4961, please refer to document: Recovered document “item of study: 112”

The subjects original cryonic storage unit was destroyed on the 19th of September 2019 during a raid by the serpents hand. The object remained uncontained for 12 days. She was found in [redacted] after causing a forest fire. When the foundation arrived, it was discovered she had accidentally incinerated the members of the serpents hand who had freed her. One member of the team remained alive, who was captured, treated for his wounds, and interrogated. He revealed that the subject had a stress reaction after an argument with the serpents hand over her freedom. After all useful information was obtained and the rest of his operational cell had been located, he was promptly terminated. SCP-4961 did not resist the foundation during its containment, and offered a note to the MTF team sent to recover the object to be placed in its file, inclusion has been approved by the Ethics Committee.

The following note has been translated from Ukrainian and transcribed into this document.

“there was some doubt at first in me. Then I saw it, and I knew the world had not much changed since I left. The sunrise is still beautiful. People still want to help other people. And I am still irredeemable. I sit here, waiting for the end, and in the ashes of my ruin. Surrounded by well meaning friends who did not know who I was.

When they found me, in the clutches of the foundation, I though they were my saviours. When I awoke from the cold, I did not remember what I was. They carried me out of that dark place and brought me into the light. As I recovered I helped them, they helped me. But all along, I felt the burning inside.

Maybe it will turn me to ashes. But I think the foundation will find me before then. The smoke is rising still.

Let me be clear to anyone who wishes to save me again: I do not deserve a saviour. There is nothing left in me but the fire, and it will burn you as it has burned me. You are only doing what is right by keeping me in the cold and dark”
