SCP XXXX

Item #: SCP-XXXX

Object Class: Euclid

Containment Procedures: SCP XXXX is to be enclosed within an 8m x 12m steel containment cell, with all surfaces a minimum of 20cm thick. All exposed surfaces are to be made of a rust resistant steel alloy. Air is to be filtered once every 12 hours, and only when subject is entirely solid. Due to the danger of the subject changing form or fleeing, room is to be chilled to -10oC when feeding.

There is to be no human-SCP contact during feeding. Sustenance is to be administered through a tube, heated to outside room temperature to prevent freezing, into the subject’s bowl. Subject is to be given three (3) litres of pure water, with suitable proteins, and vitamins mixed in that would be standard for a canine. Once food is administered, temperature is to be changed back to a room standard temperature of 24 oC. It is not unexpected if the subject refuses to eat for several hours. An internal air filter mechanism is to be installed in the cell wall, filtering air into the room and having no connection to external air outside the facility. Air filter system is to be monitored and repaired as needed every 2 weeks by D-class personnel scheduled for termination within the next 8 weeks in case of potential encounter with SCP . In the event of an escape, top-level lockdown is to be put in action. Attacking the subject is ineffective and the only know method of re-containment to lure it back to its original cell with a male between the ages of 19 and 32 suffering under extreme stress or with a diagnosed case of thanatophobia, or if SCP willingly returns. Assuming the room is sealed off completely, including feeding tube and air filter, subject may freely roam its cell. Any persons coming within 5m are to be assumed inevitably lost – termination is not required, and they may be used for maintenance in SCP ’s cell.
Addendum: Following containment breach event, feeding tube is to be examined and repaired as needed every week.
Addendum 2: Following incident with Assistant Doctor Wallace, secondary camera is to be placed inside observation room. Observation room may not have one staff alone.

Description

SCP XXXX is a partially intangible, large canine, measuring 120cm from snout to tail. Its body structure is similar to the Australian Kelpie, with pointed ears and a sloping back. It does not, however, have the familiar patterns like the Kelpie, and is an entirely solid colour. It’s fur changes colour throughout the year. From early January to mid-March, it is forest green. Mid-March to late June it is a stark black. From July to early September the fur turns maroon. From Early-September to the end of the year it turns into a dark golden-brown. Any attempt to collect samples of the hair have met with failure, with the hair dissipating shortly after removal. Extracts of hair does not have the same fatalistic effect as the whole SCP.

The subject has the ability to transform into a thick fog, made of a currently unknown composition. It ranges from an almost transparent vapour to thick, dark, storm-like clouds, though the mist is never more than twice the size of the subject in solid form. It has been observed to do so with its entire bodies, as well as smaller parts, down to individual hairs. Due to this nature, subject is almost impossible to physically restrain by standard means. When changing its entire body, it moves as one continues cloud or fog. However, if only a part of the subject transforms, it often separates from the host, returning from anywhere between the space of a few seconds, and up to several weeks. Temperature severely effects the power of changing. In temperatures of less than 0 oC, the subject has consistently maintained a solid form. Tests have been attempted to permanently separate a part of the mist from the subject, but the subject seems to anticipate these tests. Before the tests are to be held, and for several hours after, the subject does not transform any part of itself, and there is no way to force a change from solid to gaseous, as extreme temperatures, even up to 1200oC produce no change, and the subject appears to suffer no ill effects.. It is unknown how it anticipates when these tests are to be performed.

SCP XXXX was recovered from a forest outside a small village in southern Poland after several folklore tales and a large string of recent deaths prompted the Foundation to investigate. Agent Woźniak recovered it from the forests and arranged its transportation to Site XXXX. Agent Woźniak and many of those involved in the transportation process died within the following weeks. The notable exception was [DATA EXPUNGED]. It is unknown why they were unaffected, and they are currently being investigated.

SCP XXXX’s presence within 5m of a human being results in their inevitable death, in a period between three (3) hours and eight (8) weeks. Victims die in a variety of ways, including traffic accidents, suicide, drowning, head injury, and stroke1. Some subjects feel an extreme sense of dead, and a strong belief in a near death, even without knowledge of SCP XXXX’s ability. The ability manifests on individuals of any age, and while the subject is either gaseous or solid; when in contact with SCP XXXXXwhile it is solid, victims typically die within three (3) days, while a gaseous state has a longer period before death. Aside from the aforementioned [DATA EXPUNGED], death has occurred in 100% of subjects. Cross-experimentation on humanoid SCPs is ineffective, even on SCPs biologically identical to normal humans. SCP XXXXcan not be used to neutralize other SCPs.
Subject has displayed signs of sentience. Verbal communication is possible, and subject looks into cameras within the containment cell when being spoken to through speakers.

Victim Cause of Death Time after Contact with SCP XXXX
D-391091 Cardiac Arrest 19 Days
D-381024 Suicide 20 hours
Dr█████ Accidental death from ceiling collapse 6 weeks
D-890081 Electrocution 2 Weeks
D-0201821 Brain haemorrhage 4 Days
D-201810 Choking 8 Days
D-291903 Smoke inholation 7 Weeks

Containment Breach Incident
On October 4th, subject escaped through a small hole in the feeding tube that led into the kitchen after turning gaseous. Despite a lockdown and high-level containment breach procedures, the subject wandered through nine (9) rooms in a path towards SCP ████. After several minutes alone with it, subject drifted back to its cell and entered again through the feeding tube. After an 8-week period, ██ persons were confirmed dead, with █ missing. Post-incident investigation revealed the hole had been present for two days prior to the incident, and it is unknown if SCP XXXX was aware of this or even has an active interest in escaping.

Staff Incident
On August 19th, Assistant Doctor Wallace was alone in the observation room. Nothing was expected to occur, as feeding tube and filter had already had routine maintenance, and no interview was scheduled. At 2218 hours, Wallace saw the subject’s head hovering closely in-front of camera #2, looking at the lens. After establishing eye-contact, Wallace experienced full body paralysis, and was paralysed for 14 minutes before being discovered by Dr. Fortner. When Dr. Fortner looked at the monitors, SCP XXXX was in a semi-gaseous state in the centre of the room. Despite physically being beyond the 5m radius of SCP’s XXXX effect, Wallace is currently under observation.
