My first SCP, took some time on a sleepless night but I like the result. I hope you enjoy, please help me out with any constructive criticism. (I want that early page number, but the number right now is just a place holder)

The Metal Cube of Grandeur

Item #: SCP-XXXX

Object Class: Euclid

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-4032 is expected to be kept in a negatively magnetically-charged containment case at all times. This case must be contained in a small room with either wood paneling or traditional polyester padded coverings from psychiatric wards over any metal walls, and there must be no exposed metal in SCP-4032’s containment chamber at any time. The exception is a single multilayer coil generator also found in the room, which is to be held by glass or wood paneling that can be remotely removed and the generator activated. If metal is exposed to SCP-4032 at any time, overseers must immediately engage multilayer coil functionality.

At least 1 Class 3 Personnel must guard SCP-4032 at all times, to prevent others with metal in their person from drawing near. This guard must not carry any metal items on their person while on shift.

Description SCP-4032 is a common multi-piece puzzle, with the base pieces fabricated from nickel and iron alloys, and other random metals are also present in newer pieces. The object is roughly a 6” by 6” cube with 19 pieces protruding from it. SCP-4032 displays immediate (supposed) magnetic attraction to any metal that is nearby, and will gravitate at speeds calculated up to 144 meters per second at the exposure of metal from around ██-██ meters away. Also, SCP-4032 will expand as it gravitates towards any metals, spreading all of its individual pieces out in mid-flight in a semi-cube shape (but fluid and moving), but will reconstruct as it connects with said metal. This expansion has been reported to be as large as approximately 7’-4” cubewise. Dr. Ja████, a researcher on magnetic abnormalities from Site ██, suggested electromagnetic testing and was approved, but has been unsuccessful to find the true range of its magnetic attraction.

Once SCP-4032 has collided with any metals, it will begin to reconstruct violently over the object, pulling all of its pieces flush to the surface, if able, to attempt assimilation of the metal into its center. Any small metal object will be crushed by approximately █████ meganewtons and shaped into another piece for the cube. If successful, the cube will then go to the next smallest object and repeat the process, until all applicable metals have been either assimilated or removed from the area. The cube, when in this state, is also known to shine uncharacteristically with a blue hue. Reasons of this are unknown.

Originally, SCP-4032 was contained in a general use storage closet with security attatchments, but was moved to a larger room when the object piqued the interest of Dr. Ja████. Numerous tests have given evidence to suggest that a multilayer coil generator1, when activated, disrupts SCP-4032’s magnetic capability and causes the object to slow down immensely, making it float haphazardly with pieces spinning in midair. These pieces are still highly magnetized, and will not budge when security personnel attempted to obtain them. When the coil is deactivated, SCP-4032 will reconvene and become dormant. A live test with a Class-D personnel holding a metal object out to SCP-4032 is currently being consideried. The family is currently under light surveillance.

Addendum 4032.01

SCP-4032 was identified and located at a local toy store on 11/12/201█ in Haikou, China, where it’s anomalous properties were exhibited immediately after being taken out of a plastic manufacturer’s casing. A small child and the elderly man running the store were severely hurt, and were transported to Haikou’s People Hospital, where the elderly man died of multiple impacts from SCP-4032 to the head and abdomen, particularly when one piece lodged itself in ███ ████. The child suffered minor wounds to the left arm and leg (e.g. bruises, small cuts) and recovered normally. The object, from eyewitness accounts, assimilated 4 pieces of metal before becoming dormant. All eyewitnesses, including the child, were quickly amnesticized and released with no further action taken. The family of the elderly man were informed he had died of a fall down the stairs, as the injuries sustained seemed similar to a fall.

Addendum 4032.02

The SCP-4032, Test Number 11 request was accepted by higher management. A Class-D personnel, L-491, was escorted by two armed security officers to SCP-4032. L-491, an Indian male, did not fear SCP-4032, and so compiled with all instructions. The subject was given a crushed tinfoil ball, and instructed to present it to SCP-4032. As the magnetic containment case was deactivated, SCP-4032 began to force its way out of the case, and immediately connected with L-491’s hand that was holding the ball, and began its compression process. The subject’s fingers were crushed and broken, with his ring finger being completely torn off. The finger was then crushed into SCP-4032, becoming a new piece in its form.

The piece now has an unusual sheen, like metal, and does not seem to decompose, which was reported from the current guard. The piece remains flesh, but is too close to the center to be accessed easily. The tinfoil was crushed and assimilated as per usual. L-491 cites SCP-4032 feeling like “a hundred billion mosquito bites, but with pressure” onto his hands, and refused to clarify.
Further tests, now attempting removal of the finger, have been near impossible, as SCP-4032 will not spread out unless in the presence of metal, and seems to “lock down” magnetically when in a dormant state.
