Item #: SCP-xxxx

Object Class: Safe

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-xxxx is to be kept in a containment cell fitted with objects appropriate for a domestic cat. The floor of SCP-xxxx is to be covered in a soft material.

Personnel are encouraged to interact with SCP-xxxx in order to improve morale. Level 2 Researcher Jane Cho is to feed SCP-xxxx with 1 liter of Solution xxxx-C daily.

Description: SCP-xxxx is a translucent, slightly gelatinous black sphere, measuring approximately 0.6 meters in diameter and weighing 20 kilograms.

SCP-xxxx emits a colored light from the center of its body. It appears to be able to change its color voluntarily, and the colors roughly correlate with its apparent emotional state as follows:

  • Green: Generally a happy or joyful state. Displayed mostly while interacting with personnel. Sometimes displayed while alone, but less frequently.
  • Blue: Appears to be SCP-xxxx’s default state. Displayed mostly while in containment.
  • Yellow: Occasionally displayed while agitated. Due to its rare appearances, not much information has been collected regarding this state.
  • Purple: Roughly correlates to surprise or uncomfortableness. Displayed when SCP-xxxx is exposed to a new environment or a large amount of new information.
  • Red: Displayed when SCP-xxxx is surprised or in pain.

The exterior of SCP-xxxx is composed of biological cell-like structures, however its chemistry differs greatly from baseline organisms. SCP-xxxx regenerates damaged tissue at a significant rate. SCP-xxxx is also capable of exchanging air and nutrients through its skin.

SCP-xxxx is able to sense light, sound, and tactile sensory information, and is capable of understanding simple English. Whether SCP-xxxx is able to sense smell, taste, or temperature is currently unknown.

SCP-xxxx is capable of movement via rolling, however its mechanism of movement is unknown.

SCP-xxxx is also capable of producing sounds similar to those of a domestic cat. This is generally a sign that SCP-xxxx wants attention. However, SCP-xxxx’s behavior has shown to differ from that of a non-anomalous feline.

SCP-xxxx is generally obedient to Foundation personnel, though it prefers to interact with Researcher Seo-yeon Cho. It is currently unknown whether SCP-xxxx possesses complex emotions. Study into SCP-xxxx’s psychology is ongoing.

Addendum xxxx-01: Following initial containment, tissue samples were taken from SCP-xxxx by Researcher Seo-yeon Cho at Site-103.

[BEGIN LOG]

//SCP-xxxx is fixed to a table. Researcher Cho enters the room, and SCP-xxxx’s light turns from purple to red.

SCP-xxxx: Meow.

Researcher Cho: It’s okay, kitty. Don’t be afraid. It’s not going to hurt, I promise. Look, I’ll show you.

Researcher Cho pinches SCP-xxxx with her fingertips. SCP-xxxx’s light flashes bright red for an instant, and then fades to blue.

SCP-xxxx: Meow.

Researcher Cho: See? It’s not that bad. This time I’m going to use this instead. Ready?

Researcher Cho shows the biopsy instrument to SCP-xxxx.

SCP-xxxx: Meow?

Researcher Cho: I’ll be careful. Don’t move.

Researcher Cho takes a small sample from the surface of SCP-xxxx. SCP-xxxx turns red during the procedure and shifts back to a blue glow shortly afterwards. Researcher Cho covers the area of operation with a patch of antibacterial tape.

Researcher Cho: It wasn’t that bad, was it?

SCP-xxxx purrs.

Researcher Cho releases SCP-xxxx and carries it onto the floor. SCP-xxxx rolls over so that its tape touches the ground. It flashes red and rolls back.

Researcher Cho bends down to pet SCP-xxxx. SCP-xxxx turns green.

Researcher Cho: Good kitty.

Can you move well? Does it hurt?

SCP-xxxx emits a purring sound.

Addendum xxxx-02: Discovery

On January 2, 2019, a plastic container manifested above [REDACTED] Road, Dangjin, South Korea. Foundation officials in the area immediately brought it into containment and administered amnestics as necessary. SCP-xxxx, along with multiple non-anomalous objects, were recovered from within.

A sticker was found attached to the exterior of the container. The text on said sticker is reproduced below:

HANDLE WITH CARE

Below is a list of items recovered from within the container.

  • Three 3m*3m square blankets
  • One shallow bowl, approximately 0.8 meters in diameter. Appears to be a feeding bowl for SCP-xxxx.
  • One 2-liter plastic bottle containing an organic liquid.2 The words ‘CAT FOOD’ are written across its side in black marker. Appears to be food for SCP-xxxx.
  • One piece of paper containing a handwritten note. The transcription is available in Addendum xxxx-03.

Upon extraction, SCP-xxxx was observed emitting a bright red glow. This appears to be due to asphyxiation, as it was unable to breathe for over 10 minutes while being transported to Site-103. Containment personnel responsible for the incident were reprimanded.

Addendum xxxx-03: Transcript of note

The following is a transcript of the note found along with SCP-xxxx, translated from Korean.

Mom,

This is Kit-kat(Kit-cat)3. He’s healthy, color-trained, and probably a lot bigger than last time you came to visit.

I think he might recognize you from memory (Kit-kat has a really good memory) but I think it might take some time until he’s fully comfortable with you.

I’m also sending a two day supply of cat food along with him. Kit-kat really likes this brand, but they don’t have these in Korea, so I thought he might get used to the local stuff a bit quicker if you fed him a mixture and gradually switch over. (I’m not really sure if this will work though.)

I was the only one Kit-kat knew ever since I found him on the street two years ago. I didn’t tell him that he might not be able to see me for years. I’ll probably regret it.

I’m sending this through the new direct teleportation system, so it’s going to take less than a day to get there. Even though it’s a bit expensive, I just did it so that Kit-kat doesn’t get bored or hungry during all the sorting.

I’m sending this on the day I get transferred over to [REDACTED], so if you’re reading this now, I’m probably already there.

Thanks for taking care of Kit-kat for me.

Love,
Seo-yeon
