Item #: SCP-3283
Object Class: Euclid
Special Containment Procedures: All individual samples of SCP-3283 are to be kept in the center of a circular concrete room, measuring at minimum thirty (30) meters in diameter and twenty-five (25) meters in height, with one door measuring four (4) meters in height and one (1) meter in width. A steel girder measuring twenty-five (25) meters in length is to be placed vertically around the exterior of the chamber every nine and one half (9.5) meters serving to reinforce the walls of the chamber. No containment personnel are to enter this area or come in contact with SCP-3283 without approval by a minimum of two (2) Level Three clearance personnel.
Every ten (10) days, no less than four (4) Class D personnel are to be sent into SCP-3283’s containment chamber to apply a standard pesticide to all surfaces of the chamber. After treatment, subjects are to immediately clean themselves of any trace of SCP-3283, with all remnants being returned to the chamber. All remnants are to be returned to SCP-3283’s containment chamber until no trace of SCP-3283 is present on any subjects. In addition, no matter totaling higher than two (2) milligrams may be left within the chamber. In addition, no less than two (2) Class D personnel are to remain within each instance of SCP-3283 at all times, with new personnel being brought in every one (1) hour. Subjects are to report any effects caused by SCP-3283-1 to foundation personnel immediately.
All samples of soil taken from SCP-3283 are to be transported in a standard Class 3 Biohazard storage container and transported to Site-██ within three (3) hours of removal for containment. Prior to removal, construction and inspection of the containment chamber is to be completed in its entirety. Any reports of adverse effects due to exposure to SCP-3283 or any sightings of SCP-3283-1 should be reported to containment personnel immediately. All subjects manifesting the aforementioned effects (See Description) are to be detained and must receive psychiatric evaluation from no less than three (3) Level Three clearance personnel who have been briefed on the effects of SCP-3283 and SCP-3283-1 before any further testing may be performed on the aforementioned affected subjects.
Description: SCP-3283 is a perfectly circular formation of soil, measuring thirty (30) meters in diameter, located at coordinates ██.████° N,██.████° W. A fire pit measuring three (3) meters in diameter is placed in the center of the circle, which contained 723 milligrams of burnt oak wood upon discovery by Foundation personnel. The fire pit is composed of seven (7) concrete stones, each twenty (20) centimeters in height, forty-five (45) centimeters in length and fifteen (15) centimeters in depth. The soil of SCP-3283 is composed of varying concentrations of clay, silt, zinc, aluminium, and feldspar.
Removal any of SCP-3283 from its original site will cause a circle thirty (30) meters in diameter to form around the removed material approximately four (4) hours after removal which is physically identical to SCP-3283 in every aspect, possessing all anomalous effects of SCP-3283. Expansion of SCP-3283 is undeterred by obstacles, and will destroy any obstructions to fit within its desired area, regardless of material, including other instances of SCP-3283 which have already completed their process of propagation. Instances of SCP-3283 affected by this will no longer retain their anomalous effects. All removed material from SCP-3283 will also regenerate in the exact location it was taken from approximately four (4) hours after removal. Any new instance of SCP-3283 will be entitled using a standard hexadecimal notation (E.x. “SCP-3283:F30B”) with the original instance being referred to as SCP-3283:0000.
If untreated, any instance of SCP-3283 (With the exception of SCP-1388:0000) will begin to rapidly produce flora upon its surface and upon containment chamber walls. The aforementioned flora is of unknown origin or species, but resembles the parasitic plant, [DATA EXPUNGED] in appearance. These [REDACTED] will attempt to break containment chamber walls, and will continue growing, unaffected by plant growth aids, such as water and fertilizer. Any subjects to come in contact with the aforementioned flora would begin to experience the adverse effects of SCP-3283 at exponentially increased rates dependent on the victim’s mental state at time of exposure.(See below)
Prolonged exposure to SCP-3283 will produce adverse effects on subjects. Subjects report that after approximately one (1) hour of continued exposure to SCP-3283, regardless of mental state, a voice (henceforth referred to as SCP-3283-1) of masculine tone would begin to whisper unintelligibly to them. (See Interview 3283 12-16-13 23:46:22 GMT). After approximately ninety (90) minutes of exposure, subjects would report seeing flora of similar appearance to [REDACTED] (see above) growing on the interior walls of the containment chamber if no flora is currently growing within the chamber, dependent on the subject’s mental state during exposure. Upon reaching approximately two (2) hours of exposure, subjects would occasionally report seeing the shadow of a masculine figure measuring 4.3 meters in height (See Addendum 3283-01), and of otherwise unremarkable features, regardless of mental state. Subjects report the origin of the aforementioned whispers to originate from this figure (Which shall also be referred to as SCP-3283-1 for this reason). Subjects report that SCP-3283-1 would slowly walk around the circumference of the chamber, seemingly mumbling unintelligible words to itself (See Interview 3283 12-16-13 23:46:22 GMT). Subjects will continue to experience effects of SCP-3283 for varying intervals after departing, dependent on the subject’s mental state at time of exposure. After three (3) hours and varying by a range of approximately thirty (30) minutes subject would [DATA EXPUNGED] from SCP-3283. Any and all medical readings regarding aforementioned subjects would also [REDACTED].
