Item #: SCP-XXXX
Object Class: Euclid
Special Containment Procedures: If an SCP-XXXX instance is found on any globally accessible web server it is automatically removed via Foundation web crawlers. Any SCP-XXXX files containing it have been removed from all Foundation computers other than those used for testing, public instances of SCP-XXXX not detected by the crawlers are to be removed manually by MTF Eta-10 ("See No Evil"). SCP-XXXX-A instances found on site are to be reported to site security immediately and the SCP-XXXX-A instance(s) is(are) to be separated from viewing SCP-XXXX for forty-eight (48) hours and given Class B amnestics. Any Foundation instances are allowed to return to work after an additional twelve (12) hour period with limited access to computer terminals and with light supervision in the form of hourly checks.
Description: SCP-XXXX is a typeface of unknown origin. Files containing the SCP possess no special qualities, and act the exact same way as any typeface file, ie: they can be installed and removed the same way, and they can be overwritten on any computer’s hard drive. Physical instances of SCP-XXXX pose no anomalous features beyond what has previously been described and are easily destructible. Upon reading text written in the typeface, readers become solely fixed on the text, regardless of what it describes. Readers of SCP-XXXX-affected individuals, designated SCP-XXXX-A, are affected instantaneously upon viewing any SCP-XXXX instances. SCP-XXXX-A possess obsessive qualities when viewing SCP-XXXX and will attempt any means necessary to continue viewing SCP-XXXX instances. Printed instances of SCP-XXXX possess the same anomalous properties.
SCP-XXXX-A instances are passive and will not attack unless their line of sight to an SCP-XXXX instance is blocked. Instances will go so far as [DATA EXPUNGED] to continue viewing SCP-XXXX (See Addendum XXXX-01). An SCP-XXXX-A instance’s desire for viewing SCP-XXXX can last indefinitely if they are not restrained from viewing SCP-XXXX. Their desire will last anywhere from █ minutes to until the instance dies, and is loosely related to how long an instance has spent viewing SCP-XXXX.1 Instances will die of natural causes2 if left to view SCP-XXXX long enough.
Addendum XXXX-01: An SCP-XXXX-A instance was found in an onsite janitorial closet in Site-██ located next to the bodies of Dr. Smitt and 2 janitorial staff. After analysis of security footage it was determined that SCP-XXXX-A was inside the closet for 4 days. The instance was found after questions circulated of the whereabouts of all 4 individuals and [DATA EXPUNGED].
Addendum XXXX-02:
"We should run further tests to see if this works on non-humans, it could be used to incapacitate those stupidly dangerous SCPs." - Dr. M██████
Addendum XXXX-03: The following is a log of tests conducted between ██/██/20██ and ██/██/20██.
All recorded tests are recorded in the following template:
Subject:
Test Conditions:
Results:
Subject: D-3749
Test Conditions: Subject was ordered to look at SCP-XXXX and immediately attempt to look away.
Results: Subject did not look away from SCP-XXXX until the screen displaying it was turned off █ minutes later. The subject then began to scream expletives and repeatedly hit the screen that contained SCP-XXXX, then the subject assumed a fetal position in the nearest corner of the room and was collected by security which the subject violently resisted. Subject insisted to see SCP-XXXX for ██ hours following the conclusion of the test.
Subject: D-3778
Test Conditions: Subject was ordered not to look at SCP-XXXX directly. Subject was placed in the room and faced 45 degrees clockwise from the screen that would display SCP-XXXX. Subject was ordered to look at the reference point positioned in line of the 45 degree mark relative to the subject at the subject's eye level.
Results: The screen containing SCP-XXXX was activated and the subject showed restraint for the first █ minutes, eventually looking at SCP-XXXX at which point the screen was deactivated and the subject expressed remorse and began apologizing profusely. Subject showed no desire to view SCP-XXXX after the screen was deactivated and complied with further instructions given by security and foundation personnel.
Subject: D-5483
Test Conditions: Subject was given access to a computer interface and instructed to type in the software provided.
Results: Subject typed for █ continuous hours before the computer monitor was remotely deactivated. The subject began to violently hit the keyboard and ripped it from the desk it was mounted to before hitting the computer monitor and screaming. The subject attacked security personnel upon entry to the room and was tranquilized. Subject was placed into solitary confinement and demanded to see SCP-XXXX for ██ days following the conclusion of the test.
After the test had concluded the written file was recovered and put into readable font. A redacted file of what was written can be accessed with a minimal of Level 03 Clearance. (See File XXXX-01). The majority of the writing consisted of the subjects own thoughts, which were almost entirely the subject expressing their enjoyment of viewing the font.
