Dane County Sheriff’s Department
Deputy J. CashOn Friday 08/15/1969, I pulled over a red Ford Falcon licence number “███-███”. I saw the vehicle deviate from his designated lane. The vehicle was heading north on Highway 90 just south of County Road V.
I walked up to the vehicle on the drivers side and tapped on the window. The driver opened the window. The driver was playing loud music with his 8-Track player and singing loudly along (Crazy by Patsy Clein). I asked him to turn it down. He did and told me “I’m sorry sir, I just love Patsy Clein, this isn't my favorite song though, that’s Walkin’ After Midnight released in 1961.” I told him to be quiet and continued with my traffic stop.
I asked him for his Driver’s License (DL) and Identified him as Liam Pace. After asking about the lane deviation, he told me he got caught up in singing the song. I told him to keep the music down and watch the road. I proceeded to issue Mr. Pace a written warning.

Milwaukee Police Department
Officer G. StraitOn 01/5/1997, at approximately 2:45am, I observed a Ford Falcon, licence number “███-███,” driving at approximately 58 mph with my speed radar travelling south on Highway 94 just south of National Avenue . Although the speed limit is 55, due to the weather conditions, a snowstorm, I initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle.
The vehicle pulled to the right side of the highway. After notifying dispatch, I approached the vehicle on the passenger side to avoid traffic. I knocked on the passenger window and he leaned over and used the crank to open the window. Loud music was coming from the vehicle and I asked him to turn his music off. He told me that, “Come on, this is Shiniah Twain Any Man of Mine!’ I instructed him to turn off his music again and he proceed to turn off his CD player.
I identified myself as a Milwaukee Police Officer and notified him of the reason I conducted the traffic stop. He told me “I’m a good driver, I’m not worried.” I instructed him of the dangers of driving at that speed under the weather conditions. He told me “I’m in a hurry, I need to get to Kenosha.” I asked for his DL and Identified him as Liam Pace. I returned to my patrol car and wrote Mr. Pace a citation for Unreasonable and Imprudent Speed. I issued Mr. Pace the citation and told him to drive at a safer speed.

Wisconsin State Patrol
Officer G. SmithOn Wednesday 07/04/2012 at approximately 8:15pm, I was dispatched to a traffic collision. The collision occurred on Highway 51 going north just north of Highway 52 by the on ramp in Wausau.
I was the first to arrive at the scene. There were 3 vehicles involved in the collision. On the right was a grey 2010 Toyota Prius, license plate “███-███.” in the middle was a Black 2011 Honda Civic, license plate “███-███.” On the left was a red 1965 Ford Falcon license plate “███-███.”
A woman, later Identified as Elsa Brougton, who drove the Honda Civic, ran up to me. I asked her if she was injured. She told me that she was alright. I then asked her what happened. She informed me that the Prius merged onto the freeway from the right and bumped into her Civic. Ms. Broughton said that when her vehicle and the Prius collided, she swerved left and bumped the Ford Falcon.I ran up to the Prius. The driver of the Prius, later identified as Brenton Haas, opened the door and vomited on the highway. I looked in the widow of the Prius and noticed 2 empty bottles of whiskey in a Kwik Trip bag.
I asked the man, “Are you doing ok?” He responded, “yeah I’m just a little drunk.” I then placed the man in handcuffs. It was at this time where 2 Officers from Wausau and an ambulance showed up on scene. One of the officers took Mr. Haas to his patrol car. The other Officer started redirecting traffic. The EMTs started looking at Ms. Broughton and the driver of the Ford Falcon, later identified as Liam Pace. I went with the EMS to look at Mr. Pace.
When we approached the Ford Falcon, we observed the song “The Story of Us” by Taylor Swift being played from the car. Mr. Pace’s forehead had a moderate amount of blood coming from it. I opened the door of the car and the EMTs pulled Mr. Pace out of the car. At this point Mr. Pace started fighting with the EMTs saying that he wanted to go back to his car. Mr. Pace struck one of the EMTS, D. Patterson, in the face with his right fist. Mr. Pace pushed the other EMT out of his way and started running towards his vehicle. I produced my taser and deployed it on Mr. Pace. One of the Wausau Officers, B. Taylor, assisted me in arresting Mr. Pace and bringing him to the back of my patrol car.
I brought Mr. Pace to the Marathon County Jail. I stood outside Mr. Pace’s holding cell as he sung “Fearless” by Taylor Swift. When Mr. Pace stopped singing, I turned around and noticed that Mr. Pace was no longer in his cell. After checking the County Impound, we also learned that the Ford Falcon was missing. It was at this time when we received a call from the FBI instructing us to cease any activity related to Mr. Pace. The FBI also informed me to wait for their arrival at the Marathon County Jail.
