Special Containment Procedures: All SCP-XXXX instances are to be contained in a 50mx50mx80m containment cell reinforced with concrete walls at Area-14. The cell consists of an artificial mountain range covered in snow and must be kept at subzero temperatures and a pressure of 30kPa at all times.

SCP-XXXX instances are to be fed 3kg of raw meat daily.

SCP-XXXX specimen must be sedated before interaction and moved into a separate room kept under the same conditions as the containment cell.

Description: SCP-XXXX instances are bird-humanoid hybrids that resemble harpies from Greek Mythology. Their feather cloak is colored snow-white. Male specimen and female specimen differ in appearance – male instances are more bird-like, with more feather-covered body parts, stronger legs and a more beak-like mouth, while female ones are more humanoid-like, lacking the previously mentioned traits that male individuals show. SCP-XXXX instances all have bird feet and claws, wing-like arms with three long fingers on each end, long tail feathers and feathery ears. All instances have 24 sharp teeth, though those of the males are sharper than those of the females. Their eyes are luminescent and vary in color. The males are 1.9 meters tall on average, while the females are 1.7 meters on average, with the exception of SCP-XXXX-17, who is only 1.3 meters tall.

The male specimen have been assigned SCP-XXXX-1 through SCP-XXXX-13, the females SCP-XXXX-14 through SCP-XXXX-20.

The male SCP-XXXX instances are capable of producing snowstorms through strong exhalation. This process can be seen as the mist that forms in an organ near their lungs sometimes evaporates through the rib cages due to a lack of thick tissue. They use this to confuse prey and scare away predators. The substance they breathe out appears to be liquid H2O, stored within a bladder-like organ, which is located near the lungs. During the dissection of SCP-XXXX-21's remains, this “H2O bladder” was found to be connected to the wind-pipe. Upon exhalation, the liquid H2O becomes gas-like and forms large amounts of snow crystals.

Female SCP-XXXX instances are able to emit screeches at 140 dB, though the currently highest recorded is at 170 dB. With these sounds, they cause avalanches to trap prey. Their vocal cords are very developed, unlike the male instances', as the males don't use them much for human-like speech. Female instances have proven capable of speaking human languages – the eldest specimen are best at this, however they have very little knowledge of human languages and can only speak a few words of various languages, including Greek, Latin, English, German and French.

No acts of reproduction have been observed yet. Should any female SCP-XXXX specimen give birth, the young should be moved to the interaction containment cell and observed for further understanding of development.

Addendum: Various disappearance and murder reports from the last decades set in the alps have been thoroughly analyzed. About 75% of the unsolved incidents could be attributed to SCP-XXXX instances from autopsy and eyewitness reports. Many bodies of these 75% were found near the nesting and hunting areas of the SCP-XXXX specimen.

Dr. ███████ has analyzed various old texts from humans crossing the alps which describe creatures similar to SCP-XXXX instances. It appears that early civilizations revered the SCP-XXXX specimen as gods, though from Roman times onward encounters ended violently, with humans killing SCP-XXXX instances or their young. This may be an explanation as to why SCP-XXXX specimen are extremely violent.
Recovery Log 2/4/2000:

SCP-XXXX-21 was successfully tranquilized and recovered. Upon transportation out of subzero temperatures, SCP-XXXX-21 began heaving badly and began hyperventilating. Despite a sedative being administered to return SCP-XXXX-21's condition to normal, its symptoms worsened. Five (5) minutes after transportation from ███████ in the Alps, SCP-XXXX-21 died to a heat stroke.
On 2/5/2000, SCP-XXXX-21's body arrived at Area-14 for further inspection. The autopsy concluded that SCP-XXXX-21's body could not withstand any temperatures above 0 Celsius and any pressure levels below 30kPa. Despite several organs, such as the lungs, being damaged from the lowered pressure levels and heat stroke, the remains were fairly intact. Dr. ███████ received permission to dissect the remains of SCP-XXXX-21. A full autopsy report will be released on ██/██/████.

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX instances are contained in separate 3mx3mx3m secure cells in Site-19 including various items usable as shells.

Experimentation with single SCP-XXXX instances is permitted for any Personnel Level 2 or above. Experimentation with multiple instances at the same time requires two (2) personnel with Level 3 or higher clearance.

Description: SCP-XXXX instances are creatures made of a material identical with the void between galaxies. They have various shapes and forms, which instances can adjust if necessary. SCP-XXXX instances are very small, fitting into the palm of one's hand. They do not have a mouth, but often have a set of luminescent white eyes. In their most basic form, SCP-XXXX specimen only have 2 arms and no legs, instead moving around similarly to a slug. Despite the lack of a mouth, SCP-XXXX specimen require nourishment.

Currently, there are 7 specimen in containment, assigned SCP-XXXX-1 through SCP-XXXX-7 (see Recovery Log SCP-XXXX-01). Any recovered SCP-XXXX instances are to be transported to Site-19 for further research.

SCP-XXXX instances show an aversion to cold and always seek out the warmest areas of their cells. They also show animosity to being exposed to light without a place to retreat to.

Specimen grow aggressive if their “privacy” is intruded.

If multiple SCP-XXXX specimen are brought into the same cell, they will seek each other and become one, growing more agile, larger and overall more evolved. (see Experiment SCP-XXXX-02). However, they do not grow more hostile.

Recovery Log SCP-XXXX-01:

SCP-XXXX-2 through SCP-XXXX-7 are recovered from a cave ██km off of San Francisco, along with an old, tattered journal found deeper in the cave. All captured SCP-XXXX specimen are subsequently brought to Site-19.
The journal is analyzed. Information implies that the SCP-XXXX instances were once one being split up into countless entities by a person named Peter ███████, who is currently in the McAuley Adolescent Psychiatric Unit due to diagnosis with an hallucinatory mental illness after his description of SCP-XXXX. He believes that SCP-XXXX will attempt burrowing itself to the core of the earth if left in its complete form. A meeting is arranged with him under the guise of a distant family visit.
SCP-XXXX-2 through SCP-XXXX-7 are brought into separate cells from each other to prevent interaction. SCP-XXXX is subsequently assigned SCP-XXXX-1.

Experiment Log SCP-XXXX-02:

SCP-XXXX-2 and SCP-XXXX-3 are brought into the same chamber for testing.

The two instances are placed in 1m distance from each other. They begin closing in on each other.

After approximately 20 minutes of slug-like movement, the two entities reach each other. They combine and grow larger. SCP-XXXX-2 moves more agile and appears more evolved than the separate entities. SCP-XXXX-2 absorbs its old shell and seeks out a new, larger one, before moving to the warmest corner of the room.

Conclusion: SCP-XXXX-4 through SCP-XXXX-7 have been reassigned SCP-XXXX-3 through SCP-XXXX-6. SCP-XXXX-2 is to be closely observed for the next 2 weeks for any other changes. SCP-XXXX instances seek out heat, rather than the implication of the journal that SCP-XXXX instances attempt to burrow to the core of the earth. SCP-XXXX has been reclassified as Safe.
