Special Containment Procedures: Primary containment of SCP-XXXX centers around the prevention of an emergence event in potentially affected subjects.

Secondary containment procedures are listed below for the sole known and identified emergent archetype, should primary containment fail to prevent such an event. Secondary containment procedures will be updated in the event that additional archetypes are discovered.

Foundation supercomputers Phi-Kappa-Mu and Gamma-Epsilon-Omicron are to monitor Foundation Database access logs to identify chains of Database access that resemble known trigger patterns.

Should such a chain of access be identified, the affected staff member is to be administered class-C amnestics.

Following Incident XXXX-B, containment procedures have been updated to more strictly prevent pattern access altogether. Individuals whose access resembles a known trigger pattern are to be explicitly disallowed from accessing Foundation Database files subsequent in the pattern; this containment measure applies even if the files would otherwise be within the subject's clearance level, up to and including members of the O5 Council.

Description: SCP-XXXX is the designation given to two related anomalies, designated SCP-XXXX-P1 and SCP-XXXX-A1 respectively.

SCP-XXXX-P1 constitutes a cognitohazardous trigger pattern, comprised of an identifiable series of SCP Foundation Database files. These files, when viewed sequentially within a period of six months by a particular individual, result in a Class-I "ego eclipse" psychological break in said individual. Post-ego-eclipse, the subject will exhibit anomalous properties (notably reality-bending abilities) along with a complete shift in identity and personality.

Prior to full onset of ego eclipse, the subject will exhibit a series of mental health symptoms (see Research Log XXXX-R1).

SCP-XXXX-A constitutes the personality that SCP-XXXX-P1 elicits in affected subject. SCP-XXXX-A identifies as "The Tower", and exhibits the following anomalous qualities:

  • Consciousness across affected subjects. Each emergent instance of SCP-XXXX-A is aware of former emergences of itself in previous hosts via memories, and appears to act as though all emergences are instances of the same singular entity. The entity has likened the emergence process to "waking up" in a new body, with lost time between emergences (see Addendum XXXX-EA-1).
  • Limited Atropos-Class reality-bending abilities, primarily centered around manifesting catastrophes on a personal or organizational scale (see Incident XXXX-B)
  • Conscious manipulation of physiology, most notably acceleration and deceleration of healing factor and metabolism within the host body. These abilities tend to be used recklessly in the pursuit of immediate goals, suggesting a disposable attitude towards host bodies. Use of these abilities does not supersede the laws of physics and the limits of mundane biology — that is, accelerated healing has the same effect as aging in the subject. Following incident XXXX-B, the host body was found to have degraded telomeres consistent with advanced age in the scar tissue produced by accelerated healing.
  • Access to Foundation information, primarily related to the Foundation's genesis, that would otherwise be classified as O5 Eyes Only.

A full psychological profile, constructed based on data gathered during Incident XXXX-A, is contained within in Addendum XXXX-A-1.

Although there is currently only one known trigger pattern and corresponding archetype, Foundation administrative staff, aided by data crawlers, are combing incident reports and cross-referencing access logs to identify any other potential patterns that may have resulted in previously-unidentified (or mislabeled) emergence events.
