Item #: SCP-001-J
Object Class: Safe
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-001-J is currently placed on a standard sized railroad track in a standard semi circle turn-table style train depot near Site-32.
Description: SCP-001-J is a sentient steam locomotive, resembling the prototypical E2 Class engine designed by Lawson Billinton in 1913. SCP-001-J is painted Blue with Red lining and a yellow and red “#1” painted on both sides. (see Addendum 1) Replacing the front boiler cover is an almost plastic face that only changes expression when no one is looking. (see Addendum 2)
It calls himself Thomas, and constantly repeats that he the most useful engine on the island of sodar. When asked his place of creation his answer is “The Island of Sodar”. (see Addendum 3). Upon further scanning of “Thomas” it was revealed that he has no brain or internal organs and can function like a regular train.
SCP-001-J was recovered in Ukraine in an underground tunnel near the city of [REDACTED], and was found on a routine ground scan of the area. When uncovering SCP-001-J was humming a tune to himself, the only other thing in the tunnel was a tattered book with all the pages torn out, named Thomas The Tank Engine.
Addendum 1
The paint on SCP-001-J is never-aging, upon sample testing it was shown that the paint is as new as fresh paint, constantly.
Addendum 2
With cameras constantly trained on SCP-001-J, the camera feed distorts when he changes his face, never letting people see the transition.
Addendum 3
The Island of Sodar doesn’t exist, its a work of fiction, one can only guess, made up by this unholy creature.
