Item #: SCP-XXXX

Object Class: Safe

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX can be contained securely by keeping in a area of any size at a maintained temperature of 0° Celsius / 32° Fahrenheit, or lower. The low temperature creates a cancelation effect that keeps the anomaly at its standard temperature and prevents it from dropping or rising. The SCP should be kept on top of tungsten to decrease chances of it melting its surroundings if the temperature of the containment zone rises along with the anomalies own temperature. Containment of SCP-XXXX only requires 1 or 2 guards to monitor the temperature and to make sure the anomaly is not tampered with. Do not come into direct contact with the SCP unless wearing appropriate heat-protection gear to protect skin from heat.

Description: SCP-XXXX is a smooth textured, unknown type of sedimentary rock with a mass of 27 kg. The rock was found in the ███████ Desert in a small cave. The anomaly has the appearance of a typical stone but can change temperature. The standard/lowest temperature of the SCP is 70°F but when not at freezing temperatures and below, Temperatures will increase. The temperature will increase 3° every hour when not properly contained. The Temperature will also rise when passed from one person to another. If handed off, the anomaly will increase its heat by 30° over 2 minutes after a new individual makes contact with it. There have been ██ recorded injuries and █ deaths because of the SCP. It is unknown if the anomaly has a limitation to its heat but its current highest recorded heat is ████°.

SCP-XXXX could theoretically be used as a temporary heat source but should never be kept in warm temperatures for over 10 hours or held for extended periods. Upon reaching 3000°, the rock will begin to take on a orange/red tint from the heat.

Addendum: Experiment XXXX-1

SCP Being Tested: SCP-XXXX

Interviewer: Dr. ██████

Foreword: The following is the recording of a experiment testing the heat capabilities of SCP-XXXX. 2 Class-D personnel will pass the anomaly back and fourth in a room at the temperature of 60°F, and see what the heat created by the anomaly can be used for. The Class D will be referred to as D1 and 2 for the experiment.

<Begin Log, 13:56 November 4th, ████>

Dr. ██████: Hello, Class D1 and 2. Please pick up the stone in the center of the room on the floor

Class D1: Now what?

Dr. ██████: Describe what it is like.

Class D1 Well, its smooth and pretty warm.

Dr. ██████: Ok, please pass the stone to Class D2.

<Class D1 hands over the SCP>
Dr. ██████: Class D2, what would you say about the stone.

Class D2: Same as he said, smooth… but actually hot

Dr. ██████: Ok, There are some gloves on a table in the corner. Please put them on and toss the stone back and forth for a while.

<The Class D's pass the rock back and forth for approximately 15 minutes>

<End Log, 14:34 November 4th, ████>

Closing Statement: [The SCP is returned to its containment zone and the Class D were treated for injuries and returned to their cells.]
