SCP-???? Discovery and Origins

SCP-???? - Discovery Log

Discovery: SCP-???? was first discovered by the foundation in Schönbrück, Germany on 12/12/1937 when 19 locals staged a coup and removed the local Geheime Staatspolizei1 presence in the town in synchronised, well coordinated attacks. This event on its own would not typically instigate foundation investigation.

However, reports acquired through the SCP espionage and reconnaissance subdivision noted that the Gestapo made various claims of unusual activity in their peers, as well as inhuman abilities in their assailants such as the ability to disappear, to control vehicles remotely or without sight.

Upon investigation, 19 individuals, including 1 member of the Gestapo, were detained due to discrepancies in their alibis. Their unusual actions lead the foundation to initially believe them to be part of an unknown cult or freedom force. After detention and round the clock observation, the nature of them as hosts of SCP-???? was discovered thanks to a failed escape attempt, foiled by the presence of observational teams leading to a disoriented group of escapees who appeared lost and confused.

To date there have been 22 discovered and contained instances of SCP-???? worldwide with the most recent outbreak having occurred in the town of Mountsorrel, England.

The following are transcriptions of handwritten reports from classified documentation discovered in a bunker in proximity to the city on Linz, Austria. Translated by Dr. Beckett for convenience. They appear to be from the Geheime Staatspolizei officers present in Schönbrück during the initial SCP-???? outbreak; it is believed that they were created and stored by the Kommission für Okkulte Ereignisse2.

Incident 14 - Report 1

Date of event: 11/12/1937

The incident occured around 19:30. It was dark. I sat in the watchtower as per protocol, though between the snow and the deep blackness of the December night sky my position was essentially pointless.

I heard a woman call out for help towards the south, leaning over the watchtower and squinting through the snow I managed to spot a woman holding a lantern. Though she stood alone and appeared fine, I called to her to ask if she required aid. She replied that yes, she was fine and enquired as to my reason for asking. As I began to elaborate I was grabbed from behind.

I fought off the asailant, though before I could get completely loose he had bound my eyes with some kind of fabric soaked in a fluid that burned my eyes. Regrettably, I hesitated and grabbed at the blindfold but before I could unbind my head I felt a blow to my chest, knocking me off the watchtower.

The thick snow cushioned my fall and I barely remained conscious, only to be greeted by a female laughing. I was still unable to see. It felt as though she knelt down on my chest then she covered my mouth with some more fabric soaked in an odourless fluid. Unable to breathe I began to lose consciousness. The woman spoke to me as I fell into darkness… "You have sight yet you refuse to witness…".

Origins: It is also supposed that SCP-???? had existed for a substantial time before the foundation's initial containment. Upon being asked "What are you?" by Bertold Schmidt, Schmidt reportedly received the response "Legion".

This may date SCP-????s existence back to at least the biblical era3. However, this cannot be considered conclusive both due to the non reliable source, as well as SCP-????s tendency for misinformation.
