Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is to be contained within a standard Safe class storage container at site 19. Direct dermal contact with SCP-XXXX is forbidden outside of testing procedures without approval from a researcher of Level 3 or higher. Any barrier preventing direct dermal contact has been shown to prevent SCP-XXXX’s properties from manifesting. As such, any handling of SCP-XXXX outside of testing conditions is to be done with standard issue protective gloves. In the case of emergency, SCP can be moved with any protective non-porous barrier, provided it has a material thickness of at least 3mm.

Description: SCP-XXXX is a small ornately carved hand held mirror fashioned of ivory, with polished silver serving as the reflective surface. The words “In the eyes of the beholder” are embossed in gold leaf on the back. When held by a human SCP-XXXX will “correct” what the holder perceives as flaws with their physical appearance. This change occurs at a generic level and manifests almost instantly. The process is reported to be painless and all recorded alterations have been received with immediate satisfaction by test subjects. However, after several days subjects will report increasing dissatisfaction with their new form and seek additional exposure to “correct” their flaws. At this stage, subjects will display increasing compulsion to be exposed to SCP-XXXX, escalating to violent, and in some cases, homicidal obsession. Class B amnestics have been proven successful in eliminating this obsession in all recorded cases. If subjects are allowed continuous access to the object, the above cycle will repeat itself over the course of approximately 1 month with increasingly drastic changes to physical anatomy being desired by the subjects. Advanced cases usually terminate with the removal or shrinking of internal organs, leading to fatality.

Recovery: SCP XXXX was recovered among the possessions of Casey F████. A deceased 16 year old caucasian female living in the suburbs of ████████ Michigan. Initially, it was suspected she had died from starvation after a brief struggle with Anorexia. However after her autopsy revealed several extreme deviations from baseline anatomy including: extremely reduced bone density, a gross skeletal structure consistent with a prepubescent female, a complete absence of fat, and the presence a single .6 meter length of intestine leading directly from the stomach to the rectal opening, embedded agents in the ████ County Morgue notified The Foundation. A search of the F████ residence was conducted under the guise of city officials checking for a gas leak. The object was discovered on a desk in the deceased's bedroom after Agent ██████ brushed his arm against the object and immediately experienced a 30% increase in muscle mass. After the object's memetic properties manifested 4 days later, Agent ████████ successfully underwent amnestic treatment and current containment protocols were established.
