You, a proud man of the human race and one of it's only remaining survivors, wander the remains of what was once one of the many sites of this so called SCP Foundation.
You find a room with a computer that seemed to have been open recently. You approached it with curiosity in your eyes.
You pulled back the chair, sat down, and placed your hand on the mouse, dragging it and clicking on a file titled "The Tale of Man (READ ME)."
An audio log played. What came out was the voice of a man.
" This is Dr. Cecil aka one of the lesser known doctor's here at the Foundation. I have come to bring you my opinion. My opinion on humanity. I know I will most likely be accused of treason for what I'm going to say but I wish to get my words out there. "
" Have you ever wondered why the Foundation exists? Why it does what it does? I certainly haven't and neither should you. It's quite obvious. Secure. Contain. Protect. "
" Except, who the hell are we protecting here? Mankind? Yes. But why do we protect our species? I believe it doesn't matter. Either way we're going to burn and we're going to deserve it. We DESERVE to rot in hell. "
" So, allow me to tell you a story. The Tale of Man. "
" Once upon a time, when God had shaped the world "Earth", he ripped the ground and stone from beneath his feet and water from the very oceans and shaped a peculiar species. The species of humans. He watched his children in awe as they lived throughout their perils within the wilderness. "
" However, conflict began to rise between man and the world. Man grew greedy and ever-so angered. As the little men spread throughout, they slaughtered not only animals and plants but each other. They disrupted the peace God had gifted us. In the end, God brought an evil into our world. This so called evil brought down it's wrath, leaving behind monsters of unknowable power. We tried to fight back but they kept killing them. Eventually, in time, man forgot about these creatures and their existence. They disappeared one by one as we evolved. "
" Then the Foundation came to light. These people in white coats and 'pathetic' armor stowed these monsters away and labeled them with these- numbers… Their motto was to Secure. Contain. Protect. Yet, mankind had done wrong. So, so, so many wrongs. Wrongs so great and so many. They deserved the punishment we were given. Even the Foundation made mistakes. Because of their own miss-doings, their rivals, the 'Chaos Insurgency' as they called themselves existed, making their attempts to take away the Foundation's captives. The monsters. Now, back onto the actual topic. Even if these people tried to keep Man's punishment away. It was only a minor set back or perhaps a delay. Because in the end, these monsters broke out, destroying everything in their path. "
" That is the story of Man. May other see this and refuse to repeat the mistakes we have made. "
" So long and goodbye. This is Dr. Cecil resigning. "
End log.
As you watched the screen go black, nothing but screams surrounded you. It was time to die.
You couldn't do anything. Except close your eyes and smile.
