SCP 5072
Object Class: Euclid
Special Containment Procedures: SCP 5072 should be contained in a humanoid containment cell dressed in the style of a late victorian era manor house. To accommodate this, SCP-5072 should be placed in a cell consisting of several such units strung along with adjoining walls removed. Notably these cells should have both video and audio surveillance. No food should be provided except in the case of a Primis Event (see addendum 5072-03; Primis Events), however a phonograph playing preapproved songs; see addendum 5072-01: Permitted songs. Efforts should be made to always have this music either playing on the phonograph or be pumped in also via phonograph. Should the music ever stop for the duration of more than sixty seconds, a containment breach alert must be sounded and a perimeter of at least half a kilometer established outside its containment zone until such time as the first of the next month occurs or music can be reestablished. Following incident 5072-M-05 music played over speakers may only originate from a phonograph playing a vinyl record, no recordings may be used.
Generally no personnel save for D-class equipped to be remotely terminated may be permitted into the SCP 5072 containment area unless approved by the site director except on the first of the month to communicate with SCP 5072-2, during this time a meal should be prepared fitting a late victorian/early edwardian style banquet and during this time the music may be stopped to examine the phonographs used for damage and wear. During this twenty four hour period, SCP 5072-2 may be permitted to wander the site as it is under the impression that site 17 is part of “the world fair”. If any D-class attempts to destroy or silence the phonograph, they must be remotely terminated.
Addendum:
Regarding Staff Strain: Staff stationed to work and research on SCP 5072 should be rotated once every six months. Following incident 5072-M-03 this rotation period has been lowered to once every two months.
Regarding Containment with Other SCPs: While SCP 5072 is docile so long as the music continues to play, due to the effects of SCP-5072’s vocalizations, it should not be contained within half a kilometer of SCPs with an aspect of progression, examples of such scps are SCP-217, SCP-2774, and SCP-4666. Reclassification to keter has been requested.
Description: SCP-5072 is a roughly humanoid creature measuring 3.82 meters in height weighing at least half a ton. The creature superficially has black desiccated skin and its body appears roughly similar to an egyptian mummies. The most notable physiological feature of SCP-5072 is its extremely elongated head. Nearly half a meter high and swollen to resemble that of the Huanca peoples practice of head binding. When docile (see special containment procedures), an examination was conducted on the creatures abnormal head via Magnetic Resonance Imaging Scanner and found that nearly the entire extended volume consists of an expansive inner ear and [REDACTED]. During testing, it has been shown that SCP-5072 possesses superhuman strength, speed, and durability, however, lacking any purpose it tends to wield these like a flailing child. While SCP-5072 does not eat, it does require music. Generally the exact style of music should be of a similar style to what has been requested by SCP-5072-2. So long as this music originates from a phonograph, SCP-5072 will remain docile and entirely silent, patrolling its containment cell or sitting cross legged on the floor holding the phonograph Notably, SCP-5072 has been seen to try and catch the attention of anyone that enters its containment, but due to its anomalous nature testing of this nature has since been restricted. When left alone as it patrols its cell it will manipulate objects found within. To prevent it from manipulating the phonograph (see incident report 5072-M-01) its containment cell should be large and exceptionally well furnished.
Should the music playing ever stop, SCP-5072 will grow more and more agitated until reaching a rage state where it will begin to scream and attempt to destroy things around it, most notably walls. During this rage state the cry it emits will have an anomalous effect at a range of half a kilometer to [REDACTED]. Within this range, things will begin to “progress” more rapidly. Sounds will become distorted, diseases will progress, and instruments will malfunction. Most dangerously this effect also applies to SCP’s, where their effects will become more pronounced and occur more rapidly as though on “fast forwards” up to a degree of 1000%. Due to this potentially massive hazard phonographs and copies of the pre-approved record should exist as backups should the main fail.
Addendum 5072-03; Primis Events and SCP-5072-02:
On the first of each month (midnight on the last day of each month to midnight on the first) SCP-5072 undergoes an as of yet unobserved transformation into SCP-5072-02, a young caucasian boy no older than seventeen. During this time period, SCP-5072-02 demonstrates marked differences between it and SCP-5072-01. Namely, he eats, seems to be capable of normal speech, and is fully functioning in a cognitive sense. He reports himself to be [REDACTED], a member of the peerage of great britain. Whether or not he is aware of his transformation into SCP-5072, anything he requests during the course of a Primis Event should be taken seriously (see incident reports 5072-M-02, 5072-M-04, and 5072-M-06 for further detail). 5072-02 seems to be very gentle and curious, and appears to have a calming effect on most people. He has listed pastimes, many of which he is allowed by the site director such as reading, playing board games like chess or checkers, and, following incident report 5072-M-04, wandering the facility under false pretenses that it is a “worlds fair”. He seems to have no concept of time passing between Primis Events but complains of a sort of sickness just before the day ends. Testing of SCP-5072 and SCP-500, or SCP-3753, or SCP-427 in an attempt to neutralize SCP-5072 has been requested, but has yet to be approved.
