Special Containment Procedures: SCP-4938 has not yet been known to travel beyond the boundaries of site 23. If at all necessary to move SCP-4938 from its hourly position, it is to be moved back to its original containment via D-Class personnel. The entire site is to be considered its containment chamber.
If SCP-4938 does materialize outside the boundaries of site 23, then the action of reclassification of SCP-4938 to apollyon, may be put in order by the 05 command.
Any personnel who come in contact with SCP-4938, are to be put in immediate quarantine.
Description: SCP-4938 is a marble statue of famous English naturalist, Charles Darwin. It is 30 cms high, 18 cms wide, and weighs 35 kgs. The sentence “Charles Darwin, 1808 – 1882” is ladled on the base of the statue. The object is in notably poor condition, with small amounts of mold growing on the right shoulder and collar of the object.
SCP-4938 shows no sign of sentience, autonomy or sapience.
SCP-4938 was recovered in 1984 by the foundation, after multiple cases of ape like creatures were reported coming out of the museum of ███████, England. Class A amnestics were deployed in the city's water supply, and all news reports, newspaper articles, and anything else protraining to the existence of SCP-4938 were immediately disposed of.
SCP-4938 currently doesn't have a current method of containment, as it will periodically materialize, somewhere within the building it is in, chaining every hour. None of these known places break the laws of physics (For Example, inside walls, upside down from ceilings, etc, etc). It currently shows no particular place it will always materialize in.
Upon coming in contact with SCP-4938, said personnel (who shall now be referred to as SCP-4938-2) will show an immediate increase in body hair, and a sudden shift in bone structure, and will eventually start to resemble a neanderthal.
SCP-4938-2 shall stay in this state for approximately 24 hours, before showing signs of devolving into a heidelberg. SCP-4938 will continue this cycle of 24 hours then devolving into the previous member of our evolutionary timeline, before eventually becoming no more than an atom (See SCP-4938-A for further details)
