SCP-5919
Item #: SCP-5920

Object Class: Euclid

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-5920 is to be kept in a 3.5-meter-tall large padded container with a large entrance on the surface of Site 17, with a remotely openable roof to allow in sunlight and a three-inch-thick glass to prevent possible escape. SCP-5920 must be monitored by CCTV at all times in case of possible anomalies. Any personnel may enter the container if permission is granted by one (1) Level Three personnel and above unless SCP-5920 has not been exposed to sunlight for 12 hours or more, in which no human subjects may enter its holding container. As SCP-5920 has been recently contained, there are still being tests performed on its behavior, and possible behavioral anomalies may show during or after testing sessions. Every three days a janitorial crew is to cleanse the floor of the soil tracked by SCP-5919 and store it for future reference.

Description: SCP-5920 is a creature of humanoid resemblance, standing at about 2.8 meters, and has the physical and chemical appearance of a Quercus oak tree. Despite seeming to have no proper muscular system or brain, SCP-5920 is able to slowly move, traverse, and displays basic sentience. SCP-5920 has distinguishable arms and legs and has a spherical shape near the top of its body resembling a human head, however, whether that is the source of its sentience is undetermined. It has rough “skin” that shares the appearance of tree bark, and when tested, had the exact same chemical makeup as well. It also possesses thin roots at the bottom of its feet and manages to track a small amount of dirt when it walks. SCP-5920 has a large amber and sap fossilization on its right arm, weighing at about 63 kilograms. This amber seems to have a faint pulsing from its center and has certain organisms stuck inside the outer layer of sap, including a housefly, mosquito, and a species of dragonfly.

SCP-5920 generally exhibits caution and reluctance around humans and will try to avoid them if they enter its containment. If constantly provoked, such as continuously kicking or chasing it, SCP-5920 will retaliate with force, hitting the perpetrator. However, during testing, it was discovered that when it receives liquid water onto its bark, it will "absorb" the water. Water does not seem to be a necessity for SCP-5920, but when it does, it becomes much more receptive to those who provided it with water, where it will then interact with them and be much more passive. When doing experiments that involve provoking SCP-5920, use extreme caution, and wear protective clothing as it is capable of delivering a force of up to 8,000 newtons, which can fatally injure a human.

The behavior and reaction of SCP-5920 are as listed above when exposed to sunlight for at least 4 hours a day, but when restricted from the sun's radiation for long periods of up to 60 hours, its bark begins to gray, and it moves noticeably slower. SCP-5919 also appears even more irritable to interaction with people. Over time, the bark will become more void of color, and the pulsing in the amber emits a more powerful light source and begins to crack near the center. The longer it is withheld from the sun's rays, the larger the cracks grow, with each crack's max-width being about 10 When SCP-5919 receives sunlight once again, it quickly reverts to normal, it’s bark turning brown and the cracks in the amber closing. Testing with SCP-5920 has been discontinued as possible long term effects could be found from SCP-5920 when it is withheld from sunlight, as well as making it much harder to do close up interaction with it.

SCP-5920 has a wide variety of behaviors to humans, depending on their actions beforehand. SCP-5920 has been known to act violently, cautiously, occasionally friendly under correct conditions, and other undefined behaviors. The most notable incidents and interactions are as listed:

SCP-5920-1 First Incident Involving SCP-5920 - 2-12-2019

Subject: D-9441

Procedure: D-9441 was instructed to walk up to SCP-5920 and attempt to engage basic conversation.
Results: The subject proceeded to attempt to engage with simple conversation starters, such as "hello" or "what the hell are you?" for approximately five minutes, without SCP-5920 acknowledging his presence. D-9441 then left out of impatience, and was soon removed.

SCP-5920-3 Second Incident Involving SCP-5919 - 2-15-2019

Subject: D-9451

Procedure: D-9451 was instructed to walk up to SCP-5919 and attempt to provoke it.

Results: After walking up to SCP-5919, the subject attacked SCP-5919 physically using their fists, and shouted at it for a brief period of time. SCP-5919 quickly reacted by striking D-9451 in the abdomen with the force of 6,000 newtons, launching them into the wall. D-9451 was reported to have 2 fractured ribs and permanently paralyzed from the waist down. D-9451 was immediately removed.

SCP-5920-3 Third Incident Involving SCP-5919 - 2-15-2019

Subject: D-9934

Procedure: D-9934 was instructed to interact with SCP-5919 with passive physical interaction and verbal interaction with a cup of water.

**Results: The subject entered the proximity of SCP-5920. The SCP at first exhibited extreme caution towards them, however, soon calmed down when it noticed the water D-9934 was holding. D-9934 was instructed to pour the water on its head, and when doing so, SCP-5920 absorbed the water and suddenly seemed intrigued by D-9934. D-9934 tried to talk to it and interact with it, and SCP-5920 proceeded to interact with it as well. D-9934 attempted to teach it basic hand gestures and **

Background: SCP-5919 was originally discovered by Christian ██████, a 6-year-old male child residing in █████, Maine, living with his mother, █████ ██████. Christian had been exploring the nearby forest approximately a mile from his residence when he saw SCP-5919. He then proceeded to interact with SCP-5919 for the next (2) hours. He then wrote the events in his journal and explained the events to his mother, who immediately informed the authorities. The Foundation overheard about the situation and sent a team that immediately apprehended SCP-5919 and escorted it to Site 17. Christian was interviewed after, then he and his mother were immediately given Class B amnestic afterward.

Addendum 5919-A: It has been noted that SCP-5919 has retained some of the hand gestures taught to it by Christian █████, revealing basic memory.

Addendum 5919-B: We have discovered that soil tracked by SCP-5919 on other soil where fauna is beginning to develop will affect plants growing in the same areas the dirt. The plants in the soil during their early stages will dramatically increase in growth, and will also show basic cognitive abilities and locomotion similar to SCP-5919. Foundation researchers have theories that perhaps SCP-5919 was an early oak tree with hardened sap inside it that evolved in soil tracked by similar anomalies as well, and that there were multiple fauna life sharing SCP-5919’s evolution and abilities before it. There may also be other grown plant life currently sharing the features of SCP-5919, however, none have been found. More research is being conducted on the soil; results are inconclusive.
