Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is kept in an inactive state in a humidity controlled anomalous objects locker on Site-65.
Description: SCP-XXXX is a piece of chewed pink bubblegum weighing 2.7 grams in an inactive state. When kept in a dry environment away from liquids, SCP-XXXX appears as a ordinary piece of discarded gum. When exposed to moisture of any kind, however, SCP-XXXX will enter an active state and appears to become sentient. When active, SCP-XXXX is capable of self-locomotion and human speech, and will actively seek out additional sources of moisture to absorb. SCP-XXXX's mass, strength, and level of sentience appear to directly correlate with the amount of moisture it has absorbed. Liquids which would generally be corrosive remain so to SCP-XXXX and it will avoid them. While SCP-XXXX is capable of absorbing common, readily-available fluids such as water, it prefers to subsist on human saliva.
SCP-XXXX will attempt to enter the oral cavity of any nearby person, showing preference to those with high moisture content (such as someone sweating, for example). If successful, it will then proceed to secure itself to the tongue and stimulate the saliva glands through pressure. SCP-XXXX will remain in place until a majority of its target's fluids have been drained; this results in the death of the individual. Autopsies of recovered victims have indicated extreme, sudden onset of dehydration and thick, syrup-like blood.
Discovery and Containment: SCP-XXXX manifested suddenly for unknown reasons on 11/23/2001 at the Varsity Hotel in Fairview, Saskatchewan. The incident was recorded via security cameras in the hotel lobby. Civilian Diana White is seen giving her daughter, Alisha White, a stick of chewing gum. Alisha proceeds to chew the gum for approximately 8 minutes, at which point it appears as though she rapidly loses weight before dropping to the ground, deceased. SCP-XXXX is seen exiting Alisha's oral cavity and proceeds to enter Diana's killing her as well.
