Decibelle Six One

Item #: SCP-5000

Object Class: Thaumiel

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-5000's texts are to be monitored for information pertaining to the Foundation's interests. Every 24 hours, all texts are to be transcribed and stored digitally. Only Level 5-5000 Clearance staff and O5 Command are to access these texts, and all protocols and decisions made in relation to texts from SCP-5000 are to be decided upon unanimously by O5 Command.

Description: SCP-5000 is an automaton that records past events and history, as well as events that will occur in the future, without outside assistance or input at a rate of 113 wpm. Materials used to build SCP-5000 suggest it was constructed around 1860.

Although there is no known pattern for which events SCP-5000 chooses to write about, since entering Foundation containment, there have been more texts gradually written about interests relating to the Foundation, including but not limited to:

  • Anomalous objects, extranormal events, and unexplained locations
  • Foundation cafeteria meal schedules
  • Personnel promotions
  • Group of Interest activities
  • Containment breaches
  • [DATA EXPUNGED]

All events recorded, if not interrupted or interfered with, will happen according to how SCP-5000 writes them. There is no consequence from SCP-5000 itself if events are interfered with, making it uncertain as to whether it is merely predictive or [DATA EXPUNGED].

Discovery: SCP-5000 was discovered on 12/25/1996 on West Tisbury, Massachusetts, when a call made by Chuck Tammemets, then-owner of Granary Gallery, to local law enforcement triggered certain keywords, rerouting his call to Foundation agents in the area. Mr. Tammemets escorted Foundation agents to a storage unit he had owned, containing SCP-5000. Upon discovering the nature of the anomaly and its history with Tammemets's family, and consulting with superiors, the decision was made to formally conduct an interview as Foundation agents.

Due to Mr. Tammemets' involved history with SCP-5000, he took on a position with its containment during its classification as AO-50505 until his death on 08/29/2001 of a heart attack.
