Item #: SCP-5977 "Shadow Walker"

Object Class: Safe/Keter

Item #: SCP-5977-1 "Control Totem"

Object Class: Safe

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-5977: SCP-5977 is to be under constant surveillance and held in the center of a cement room no smaller than twenty feet (20') by twenty feet (20'), with white walls and a steel door. SCP-5977 will be restrained if necessary. Light levels inside the room must never drop below 600 Lux. Power sources for lighting must be separate from facility sources and be run on battery power or generators in order to prevent containment breaches due to a possible power outage. In the event of a provoked breach by the unauthorized use of SCP-5977-1"Control Totem", all lights in the facility will be activated and specially trained and equipped task forces will be dispatched to find and capture SCP-5977. During this time, all personnel on site must lock themselves in an adequately lit room until an all-clear announcement has been given. Upon capture of SCP-5977, it will be returned to an emergency holding area if its primary cell is no longer fit for use.

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-5977-1"Control Totem" SCP-5977-1 must be held in a secure vault that is only accessible to the highest ranking and most trusted personnel.

Description: SCP-5977 is a humanoid entity that wears a black, hooded, leather-like robe with red embroidery and black leggings. It wears a black mask that covers its neck, mouth and nose. Under its cloak, SCP-5977 is recorded as having the body and complexion of a white, human male, with a height of 6'3" and weighing 197 lbs. It does not require any form of sustenance or other necessities vital to humans. SCP-5977 is capable of producing bladed weapons seemingly out of thin air. This same ability has been previously witnessed in SCP-076 and both SCP's appear to be accessing similar rifts. Unlike SCP-076, SCP-5977 seems to prefer one weapon type, a thin, slightly curved, single edged sword, that measures 32 inches in length. The sword has an appearance similar to that of obsidian, but research has concluded that the weapon matches no known earth elements. SCP-5977 is highly skilled in armed combat, possesses inhuman reaction times and attack speeds and has the ability to travel instantaneously while in the absence of light. It is currently unknown how it accomplishes this feat. It is theorized that SCP-5977 can access a sort of pocket dimension while hidden in darkness. The entity's "teleportation" abilities have been seen to work through solid objects and allow it to move from one dark area to another, no matter the distance. During SCP-5977's containment breach, its black robe rendered it impervious to various firearm calibers and other deadly devices. Research was conducted on the material and found that it matched no known earth element and proved to be impossible to remove from the SCP's body. SCP-5977 can be given orders while an individual is holding SCP-5977-1 as long as the commands are given in the Ukrainian language. No signs of defiance have ever been witnessed. After a command has been given SCP-5977 will not stop until the order has been fulfilled or a command to stop is given by the same individual.

Description: SCP-5977-1 is a totem depicting the face of an unknown, inhuman deity. It measures eight inches (8") wide and eleven inches (11") tall. It is made of pure terracotta and weighs nineteen pounds (19 lbs).

Discovery: SCP-5977 was discovered by the foundation in 1964 in the Odessa catacombs in Ukraine. Information about a mysterious tunnel reached the foundation. A team of Ukrainian miners working in the catacombs knocked down a wall that opened into a large tunnel and led to a mysterious room that the miners refused to enter. A research team comprised of four researchers and six security members, was sent into the tunnel which extended about 800 feet forward until it reached a wall with a small door, barely 5 feet tall. It then widened into a large room with a pedestal against the back wall. The room and tunnel walls were covered in hieroglyphics. SCP-5977 was discovered kneeling in the center of the room and found that it can be given orders while an individual is holding the totem that was found in the same room.

Research-Report-Excerpts: Dr, Hammond, Chief Researcher, Project "Shadow Walker":
__

"…While someone is holding SCP-5977-1 and is within earshot of SCP-5977 they are able to give commands to 5977. Thus far, 5977 has willingly followed most all orders that have been given to it without hesitation or defiance. The only things that it has refused to do is remove its hooded cloak, and speak. We have also been unable to remove the cloak ourselves, it seems to be just another part of its body…"

"…I instructed SCP-5977 to showcase its teleportation abilities by having it move from one unlit room to another. A night vision camera was placed in each room to attempt to capture just how it accomplishes this. The test was somewhat inconclusive, as soon as 5977 was given the instructions, its body seemed to fade into transparency and reappear in the second room all in a fraction of a second…"

"…I now instructed SCP-5977 to form its sword that we have seen before, in order to get a closer look at the weapon. The way it obtains this weapon is incredibly similar to SCP-076 in that it can access a rift from which it is able pull its sword, however, 5977 seems to favorite a single sword rather a several different weapons…"

Incident Report-06/17/1965:
_

June seventeenth, nineteen sixty-five, SCP-5977 broke containment after Dr. [DATA EXPUNGED] took control of SCP-5977-1 and used SCP-5977 to kill sixteen(16) on-site staff. Dr. Hammond, chief researcher on SCP-5977 was presumed to be the primary target. It is currently unknown why Dr. [DATA EXPUNGED] caused the breach and why he targeted Dr. Hammond. Security footage showed that upon gaining control of SCP-5977-1 Dr. [DATA EXPUNGED] entered SCP-5977's holding area and instructed it to find and kill Dr. Hammond. He then disabled the power in SCP-5977's cell allowing 5977 to escape. After the containment alarms were triggered, security teams were dispatched. Dr. Hammond was found dead in his office several minutes later. SCP-5977 was reported wandering the facility halls killing anyone it encountered. SCP-5977 was eventually stopped after Dr. [DATA EXPUNGED] was shot and killed in SCP-5977's holding cell, but only after calling SCP-5977 to him and using it to kill several of the security team members. After the incident, SCP-5977 and SCP-5977-1 were returned to their holding areas. Among the personnel killed were seven(7) security members and nine(9) other staff members. All deaths were caused by multiple stab or slash wounds to the body and neck.

Note: During the breach it was found that SCP-5977's black hooded cloak was impervious to firearms.
