Agent H's Project: ACRISPR

Notes: This will be a XK-Class scenario, similar to ΩK-Class "End-of-Death" Scenarios, but will not follow the same rules (i.e: people will NOT age, and will have undergone major genetic editing.) On the other hand, It could also be a LK-Class "Species-Transmutation" scenario, or even a SK-Class "Dominance Shift" Scenario. However, I want to have them seem like they both happened, as the human race is genetically different and has overtaken the original humans, creating a specific scenario.

This, for now, will be called the ρK-Class "Genetic-Immortality" Scenario, where all known humans have been genetically upgraded by "Project: ACRISPR". Those affected were deemed as the "Homo Anomalousus" species, due to the fact that they have 31 pairs of Chromosomes, rather than 24.This caused the Homo Sapien species to no longer be classed as the modern human race, also causing them to lose their position as Apex predator and face extinction.

Overview: This will start as a story told from the viewpoint of a foundation researcher tasked with anomalous gene editing who managed to fly under the radar of the viral genome editor to his grandchildren, who have been given the genes from their father. However, all parts of the story showing what happened will be set as a camera point of view.

The researcher is called Timothy Wilson. He had a daughter, Avel Wilson who was a 26-year-old medical student in the foundation when the genome editor was completed, which she developed with her father.

They worked on "Project: ACRISPR", the latest and most secretive project in the foundation. It was regularly shuffled between Bio-Site-66, Biological Research Area-12 and Armed Biological Containment Area-14 to ensure top secrecy on the topic, and most research was completed during night shifts, skeleton shifts for Biohazard containment or during transfers.

Upon the ρK Scenario's occurrence, the Foundation was found as the cause, originally causing a LV-Scenario before it decommissioning. The Foundation was deemed unnecessary, due to the ease of defeating and terminating Keter SCPs, such as SCP-682, notorious for being impossible to terminate until 2061, the year the ρK Scenario began. However, some researchers, operatives and even council members defected to GoIs like the remains of the Chaos Insurgency and The Serpents Hand, forming the Group called "The Last Survivors", but they have weakened since.

End of Notes.

Project: ACRISPR

It was a warm summer's day. The sun was shining, the winds were blowing across the green weed-less grass, and the birds were flying overhead. Except, the birds had been hunted to extinction, the winds were from transit currents perfectly build for public use, and the birds overhead were people. People genetically engineered to have wings, as well as gills, the perfect body, full immune system protection and an additional 3 sets of genomes. These were the new humans of the universe. What happened to the old ones? Hunted to near extinction.

However, that was in the primitive days. The year had become 2118, a new era in the lives of the Homo Anomalousus around the world. The last of the Homo Sapiens were nearing death, causing the "humans" to open their doors to their close ancestors. Many had to choose between genetic evolution or death, and most always chose the latter. This was also the first time Timothy was allowed to see Avel and her children.

To the little ones, all 17 of them, Tim was an ancient creature. He and Avel had been forced into exile by society, but Avel was offered a chance of redemption if she accepted the genomes into her body. Despite her fathers objection's, she took it, and he was left all alone. To rot and die. A fate most exiled saw as the better option.

However, Tim was allowed to see what his daughter had brought into the world. They all gathered around him, eager to learn how people coped without wings and gills. He chuckled to himself, and began his story.

"I think you should know how you got these so called 'luxuries', it all began in a Lab in a secret organisation in the middle of nowhere…"

Timothy and Avel were at a desk. There was a microscope, two computers and a chemistry set that would get anyone else in the Cells of Class-D personnel quicker than the council would give the order. It had a label written on the box, which displayed the name "CRISPR1 3". The monitors were locked to Level-X/ACRISPR clearance. The project was based on finding an Anomalous CRISPR gene editor to help further the progress of genetic editing in the world, yet they had no success. The proteins constantly fought against each other, killing them in the process.

"Its getting late. And I have a treat for you, birthday girl." Tim had a proud look on his face, "25 years and already in the foundation."

"As a Medical Student. God I could just punch Light in the face. Mann too. They are both far to strict for me to cope with them and Project: ACRISPR. Didn't you have someone called Hinderson when you first came?"

"Yes. Poor fellow. Anyhow, I wanted to take you somewhere special." Tim was determined to impress Avel in anyway he could.

She reluctantly locked her computer and got up. They both wished for a random genome to mutate, like how the antibacterial medicine "Penicillin" was found by accident. They switched of the lights, sealed the lab, and proceeded to the restricted area's botanical gardens. The chemicals bubbled and boiled in the labs. Genome editor proteins mutated together and evolved, dominating the petri dish and the became airborne. Except it didn't stop there. If the extraction equipment didn't deactivate upon the locking of the lab, the genomes would have escaped. Instead, they drifted through the air towards the lab mice locked in little cages that would satisfy their hearts' content until they died. The mice mutated violently, causing them to grow wings, gills, toes, fingers and even bigger brains.

Then, the alarms triggered.

Genome deactivators sprayed into the lab and surrounding corridors, before moving on to activate airlock systems. Five agents assigned to ACRISPR moved in in hazmat suits so sophisticated, Beta-7 operatives would feel like they are as protected as any researchers they saved. Avel and Tim weren't far behind, and they entered the lab searching for the dominant protein.

"Avel, look at this camera footage!"

The camera, positioned perfectly to see the lab, corridors and containment cages, showed the microscope monitor provide a recording of the dominant protein evolve the mice. The RNA structures were saved into the database during the event.

They had done the miraculous. They had found the perfect protein.

There was months of extensive research. The year had ticked over to 2061, a year many anomalous prophets in the Foundation claimed it would be an end for the "Human Species". Everyone ignored them though, as their previous claims weren't true. Even the skeptical of the Foundation didn't believe them. The second to last mistake the Foundation made.

The O5 council had been overseeing ACRISPR with a strict yet hopeful eye. They finally was back in the loop. It was a full meeting of 13. Even some Site Directors came, bringing along some SCPs that they utilise too. It was going to be a large event in compared to others Foundation history. Even the bureaucrats of the External Affairs Department were here.

"What have you brought to everyone today? I hope that it is what was promised." O5-1 was always the first speaker when at least 14 people, excluding proxies, were ever in the room.

The monitor came up on the projector. The complete RNA strand was visible, declassified for the first time in its life. The council already turned to vote on one thing: If human testing should occur. It was a success, with ten supporting, two abstaining and only one opposing. They would use an ex-medical staff member and a Class-D.
