Object Class: Euclid

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX must be contained in its case at all times while not being experimented on. The case is to be stored in a Class 3 Anomalous Object Container guarded by two (2) four (4) armed personnel with level 4 clearance at all times. Item must not be removed from containment at any time as it can lure those who get near it.

Description: SCP-XXXX is a used and aged viola. It is 16.5 inches in length, and 7 inches in width. The item has numerous scratch marks on the front, back, and neck. A small hole is present under the shoulder rest where it seemed to be scratched at. The item exhibits no anomalous external properties. The item is usually stored in a worn, leather viola case. When the item is taken out of its case, all subjects reported: “Feeling great comfort” and “Feeling lured towards it”. When it is picked up by a subject, the anomaly begins. Subjects begin to play the Viola as though they already knew how (none of the subjects used knew how to play viola). SCP-XXXX plays the same melody every time it is picked up. The melody played (now on referenced as the items melody) is not recognizable and has not been played or written anywhere else. The items melody lasts for 3 minutes and 21 seconds. The items melody can best be described as a slow, classical type piece played perfectly and in tune. At the end of the items melody, subjects expired in exactly 8 seconds due to severe organ failure. Autopsies show the lungs collapsed and the liver and kidneys completely destroyed. Externally, no injuries are visible on subjects.

Addendum #1: Item was discovered on ██/██/2013 in ████████████, Wisconsin. SCP-XXXX was found under the floor boards in the ██████ ███ Auditorium after several reports of hearing noise and music from the area the item was recovered. Item was recovered by Agent [REDACTED], and Agent [REDACTED] respectively. When Agent[REDACTED] opened the case, she was lured to the item and went through the events as listed in the description until she presumably expired after 8 seconds. See Incident Report #XXXX-1-Alpha for more information. Several Agents were sent to the scene with machinery to mechanically put the item back in its case before creating human contact with it once again. This incident confirms that SCP-XXXX has dangerous and anomalous capabilities.

Experiment XXXX-j-1

Date: ██/██/2013

Procedure: D-class subject is to be placed in secured test chamber containing SCP-XXXX. Experiment is to be observed via audio and video recording devices. D-class subject will be instructed to open the case of the item and await further instruction.

Results: Subject D-19839 (Female, 24) is placed in chamber and is instructed to open case in which the item is contained. Subject is not told of SCP-XXXX’s nature. Subject does as instructed. Subject proceeds to quickly grabs the viola out of its case. Research staff attempts to ask subject how it feels and what it thinks of the item. Subject does not answer, and starts to play the viola as if it had played it before. Item is perfectly in tune, however the melody played is not recognizable. Melody is best described as a classical type tune. Research staff instructs subject to cease playing. Subject is uncompliant. Research staff once again instructs subject to cease playing, and warns subject that noncompliance is grounds for termination. Subject is uncompliant. Melody lasts for 3 minutes and 21 seconds. Immediately after the melody’s end, subject puts the item back it its case. Subject then exhibits severe pain and discomfort. Subject proceeds to grab its abdomen and begins to collapse to the ground. Research staff attempts to ask subject what the cause of the pain is. Subject is nonresponsive. 8 seconds after the melody ends, the subject presumably expired. Autopsy on expired subject revealed severe organ failure, damage, and collapsed lungs.

Note: It is likely subject was not uncompliant when asked to cease playing. Subject may have been stuck in a trance like state where it could not comply. Subjects expiration exhibit the exact same events that occurred in Incident Report #XXXX-1-Alpha. It is safe to assume that subjects cannot comply once the melody is started.

Experiment XXXX-j-2

Date: ██/██/2014

Procedure: D-class subject is to be placed in secured test chamber containing SCP-XXXX. Experiment is to be observed via one-way mirror to adjacent control room and via audio and video recording devices. Subject is to be restrained to the wall of test chamber with SCP-XXXX 2 meters in front of it and in its case. D-class subject will be instructed to stare at the item until further instruction.

Results: D-class 19833(Male, 50) is restrained in chamber and is instructed to stare at the item. Subject complies and begins looking intently at the object. Research staff asks subject how it feels. Subject replies with, “Normal”, 18 seconds pass. When asked again subject replies with “Really good”. At this time research staff begin to feel effects of the item looking through the glass, staff stops themselves from looking at it, and proceeds to view the experiment through the camera. Effects on staff are ceased. Subject exhibits urgency and nervousness. When asked how it feels, subject replies with, “I need it…now…its mine”. Subject begins attempting to break out of the restraint. Subject begins heavily breathing, then moves on to screaming. Subject says “It’s so damn loud, I love it, I need it, the music is so beautiful”. However, the research staff reports that music was not coming from the item or present in the chamber. Research attempts to calm the subject down, but fails. Subject is screaming as loud and as violent as possible. Subject begins banging its head on the concrete wall behind him. Research staff attempts to cease the subject but fails. Subject continues to bang its head until it eventually slows down and presumably expires due to severe head trauma.

Note: SCP-XXXX has some kind of mental toll on subjects facing it. At first, the subject seems happier and calmer. But as time progresses, subject grows more urgent and violent for the desire to have the item. The only way to avoid being affected by this item is by watching its effects through camera equipment or by getting away from it before its power becomes too strong.

Addendum #3: SCP-XXXX is a dangerous item that requires specific procedures to follow. Making it Euclid. All personnel must read containment procedures and experiments to prevent any incidents. Further experimentation is to be conducted.

WARNING: Failure to comply with Addendum #3 is grounds for disciplinary measures.
