Special Containment Procedures: SCP-5785 is to be kept at Site-██ in a modified humanoid containment chamber, equipped with a bed, a bookshelf containing only war related fictional and non fictional books, a small dining table with 2 chairs and a computer with an internet connection (via a proxy that allows access to only a few world news related websites and music streaming platforms). Due to SCP-5785's clean record, it is allowed free roam of the facility, although it usually prefers remaining within its containment unit. However, once SCP-5785 leaves its quarters, it must be monitored at all time via a tracking implant as per containment protocol. Site personnel have been allowed to interact freely with SCP-5785 ever since it promised not to use its anomalous abilities outside approved research experiments or if not allowed to do so by Foundation staff. No violence is to be used against SCP-5785 at any time.
Description: SCP-5785 is a 21 year old caucasian male with brown eyes and black hair, possessing no remarkable physical characteristics other than a medium sized black tattoo of a symbol of unknown origin on its back which it claims it was born with and has no clue as to what it means. Further investigations have revealed no additional information on the symbol. It is worth noting that SCP-5785 appears to be very communicative and shows great interest in the Foundation and other SCPs, particularly SCP-035, SCP-682 and SCP-053, saying that they are all "very entertaining" although it refused to elaborate any further than that. It also seems to be very knowledgeable on all topics, most notably of them all being history.
SCP-5785 possesses the ability to manipulate any entity capable of thinking that stands within 5 meters of it, thus effectively gaining complete access and control over the mind and body of its victims. SCP-5785 claims that in order to accomplish this it needs to begin a process that has been recorded to take between 2 and 7 seconds to complete based on experiments conducted using D-CLASS personnel. During these few seconds, every D-CLASS has fallen onto the ground vocalizing extreme pain and placing both hands on their heads, one even saying that their head was "about to explode". According to SCP-5785, the duration of this process can last up to a whole minute depending on how strong a person's will is, however, it doesn't know why its victims experience pain before being taken over. Though, once this process is complete, the victim becomes quiet and appears to be under the complete control of SCP-5785. When in control, SCP-5785 can analyse and remove its victim's thoughts, emotions, memories and every aspect of their mind. SCP-5785 can also create fake memories and implant thoughts into the minds of its victims before relinquishing control or killing them. As for bodily and motor functions, SCP-5785 has exhibited the ability to move the body of its victims, to make them vocalize different things and as far as to even control other organs and individual cells, being able to stop the heartbeat of a few of its victims temporarily and to command the immune system to attack liver cells or cause cancer in any organ. Once SCP-5785 loses interest in its victims, it gives up control and the victims regain consciousness almost instantaneously. After this, the victims will not remember what had happened to them but they will retain the modifications made by SCP-5785. Victims have been reported to have forgotten their names, their lives, and/or their crimes while others have been effectively cured of depression, PTSD and obsessive compulsive disorder. As a result of these experiments, it has been determined that SCP-5785 can cure any mental illness and further testing is undergoing to see if it can cure physical illnesses as well.
Note: It has been observed that while in control of others, SCP-5785's tattoo changes color into a dark shade of red, subsequently changing back to black when control over victims is relinquished. SCP-5785 has mentioned that it does not know why this happens but it says that as long as it doesn't have negative consequences, it doesn't care about it.
SCP-5785 came into Foundation attention on the date of ██/██/20██, after it was reported that an unarmed unmasked individual managed to steal over 5 million dollars in cash from a bank in █████████, Finland. Video surveillance shows SCP-5785 enter the bank and go to the counter. Approximately 5 seconds later everyone fell on the floor appearing to scream in agony and subsequently got back up and remained immobile for the remainder of the heist. An employee opened the door to the vault where all the money was kept and SCP-5785 stole it in a duffel bag and simply walked away. The local police alerted Foundation staff which, after censoring the case and confiscating all evidence tracked down the perpetrator and sent in the Mobile Task Forces for containment. During the operation, SCP-5785 did not resist and was contained successfully without incident. When interviewed, SCP-5785 was asked why it did not use its ability against MTF personnel and responded saying that it didn't recognize the uniforms they were dressed in and was curious to see where they would take it. Addendum 5875-01: On the date of ██/██/20██ during an interview with research staff after an experiment with D-CLASS personnel, SCP-5785 told the research staff that it not only can manipulate minds but that it is also immortal, and that it is thousands of years old, despite the fact that its current body is only 21 years old. It claims that its body is normal in every way but once it dies no matter the reason whether it be homicide, suicide or natural causes it is instantaneously reborn somewhere else in the world with the only notable difference from other newborns being the tattoo on its back appearing as well. SCP-5785 claims that it has no control over being reborn, stating that everything about its reincarnation is random including the country it is reborn in, its sex and race. SCP-5785 claimed that when it is reborn the only things it retains are its mind controlling abilities and memories. This can explain why SCP-5785 possesses such immense quantities of knowledge about the world including its vast amounts of information regarding military strategies, medical practices, mechanical engineering and history of the world. Unfortunately, after the site SCP-5785 is contained in experienced a containment breach on ██/██/20██ this interview was corrupted and it is still awaiting reconstruction.
