Item #: SCP-XXXX

Object Class: Safe

Special Containment Procedures: No special containment procedures, The drawer is to be kept in a staff break room, and does not require any monitoring. Proper care is to be taken as to not alter the utensils unless permission for testing has been granted.

Description: SCP-XXXX consists of a wooden drawer with a cyan finish, and 8 of each of the following; forks (SCP-XXXX-1), spoons (SCP-XXXX-2), and knives (SCP-XXXX-3). The drawer and flatware were located in ███████, Michigan, in an old house. The residence around the house were claiming to be hearing “metal clanking” coming from within the house, but numerous trips within revealed no conclusion to what was making the noise. A research team was sent in to investigate the house when upon entering the kitchen they found a handwritten note with one of each of the aforementioned cutlery next to it. The note said the words, “Fix my friends.” on it. When the team opened the drawer the researchers saw several mangled utensils. Initially the team believed that someone had entered the house, or that there was someone currently in the house. One researcher placed each SCP instance in their respective drawers, and when later shown to a different researcher for documentation the flatware in the drawer had changed to the appearance of the undamaged ones placed in by the researcher. The drawer is approximately 28cm wide, 53cm long, and 6cm high. The cutlery appears to be standard ██████████ brand stainless steel flatware. Upon damaging, modifying, or any other structural change to the cutlery would then cause a change in the corresponding cutlery. This strange effect would only take place after being placed in the proper drawer slot and the drawer has been closed. Opening the drawer after this will reveal that the remaining cutlery of the same type will have sustained the exact same type of structural changes.

Story (Placeholder title) When interviewed, the people who lived around the area of the house where the item was found claimed it had been owned by a rather young looking woman. Despite her looks, she acted quite strange. Hanging silverware around the outside of the house reminiscent of Christmas decorations. Whenever anyone would come near the house she would scream at them, and threaten to harm them if anything were to happen to her “friends”. (It appears that the previously mentioned cutlery was of sentimental value to her)
One fateful day, a small child wandered near the house, lured in by the reflective metal and soft pings created by the utensils. The woman stormed out of the house, and began screaming at the child. Too frightened to run, the woman stabbed the child in the right side of the trachea, resulting in death before emergency services could arrive. The woman was going to be taken prison but was ruled clinically insane by the court. Later observation of the house showed blood on each of the knives hanging outside the house, creating a rather disturbing display. Testing performed by the Foundation found that the blood on each of the knives matched that of the murdered child.

Addendum: Blood on all instances of SCP-XXXX-3 found outside of the location of discovery matched that of the blood of Toby █████, the child killed by the woman. Researchers are unsure as to how this blood appeared on these instances, as any material or structural changes of SCP-XXXX-1,2, and 3, only occur when placed into SCP-XXXX. All residents who lived in the area or witnessed the incident were interrogated in the field, then Class-A Amnestics were administered. One week after she was taken into custody, Valory ███████, the owner of the house, was brought to site ██ for interrogation. No information regarding the creation of SCP-XXXX was obtained, and afterwords Class C Amnestics were administered. Valory was diagnosed with depression, and Schizotypal Personality Disorder. She now resides in ██████████ Mental Hospital, in ███████, Michigan.

Testing Logs

Test #: 7
Time: 10:56 AM 2013/10/02
Dr. █████ took two instance of SCP-XXXX-1 and placed the rest outside of the drawer to prevent damage. SCP-XXXX-1-3 was left in the drawer while SCP-XXXX-1-4 had a single prong bent at a 40º angle. After, SCP-XXXX-1-4 was placed within the drawer, the drawer was immediately opened again and both instances had the same prong bent to the 40º angle. The rest of the cutlery was placed back into the drawer and both SCP-XXXX-1 instances reverted to their neutral state.

Test #: 12
Time: 12:36 PM 2013/10/07
One instance of SCP-XXXX-3 was taken and put in a furnace at 1400º C. SCP-XXXX-3-8 was then flattened extensively. After cooling, it was then returned to the drawer containing an unaltered SCP-XXXX-3-7. Opening the drawer revealed both Instances to be completely identical, with visible marks where SCP-XXXX-3-8 was struck appearing on both Instances. After the test was complete, the remaining knives were returned to the drawer, causing the two altered knives to become normal.

Test #: 23
Time: 1:12 PM 2013/10/18
One instance of SCP-XXXX-2 was placed into the drawer, then a spoon of the same brand with damage was placed into the drawer. When opened SCP-XXXX-2-1 showed no alteration, along with the standard spoon remaining unchanged as well.

Interview Logs

Interviewed: Amy ███████

Interviewer: Field Agent █████

Foreword: Agent █████ was sent to interview persons in or near the area of the initial incident, to try and gain potential information regarding the origin of SCP-XXXX

<Begin Log, 1:17 PM>

Agent: "Do you know when Valory ██████ moved into this neighborhood?"

Amy: "No I don't, I only moved in here two years ago."

Agent: "Did Ms. ██████ ever show any…aggressive tendencies before the incident?"

Amy: "No, she always yelled at people who got near her house, but she never actually hurt anybody."

Agent: "What about all of the decorations she put around the house, did it ever affect the rest of the neighborhood?"

Amy: "They were creepy, but it never really turned anyone away."

Agent: "Did Valory ever seem to do strange things?"

Amy: "Other than her weird obsession, no she didn't."

|It was clear at this point that Mrs. ██████ didn't know anything valuable, as further questions revealed nothing|

<End Log, 1:23 PM>

Closing Statement: Agent █████ left to interview the rest of the neighborhood, however, nobody knew much more than Amy. After all interviews were complete, amnestics were administered.

Interviewed: Valory ██████

Interviewer: Researcher ██████

Foreword: Valory was brought to site ██ for interrogation, Security Officer █████ was also in the room in case of a violent outbreak from Valory

<Begin Log, 8:30 AM>

Researcher: "Hello Ms. ██████, I hope your travel here was acceptable."

/Light metal scratching can be heard as Valory fidgets with her restraints

Valory: "[Expletive], where is this place? Where are my friends?"

Researcher: "They are in a safe place, I promise that nothing will be done with them. Do you know how they were made, or how they work?"

Valory: "[Expletive] if I know, and if I did why would I tell you [Expletive]?"

Researcher: "Valory, please watch your language. So you have no idea on how the cutlery works, or how they were made?"

Valory: "[Expletive] you, I say what I want… They were given to me by my Aunt, she took care of my because my parents were [Expletive]."

Researcher: "Did she ever do anything weird, or was she in any sort of group?"

Valory: "Not that I knew of, but she never let me leave the house, and she warned me that there were monsters outside. "

Researcher: "What were these monsters?"

Valory: "I never found out, because I still don't leave the house much. But she would always give me these utensils to play with, and thats when I met my friends. I made a promise to never let anything happen to them."

Researcher: "Why do you call the cutlery, 'your friends'?"

Valory: "Don't you have any feelings? They need someone to take care of them or they'll all get hurt!"

Researcher: "Did you know that the cutlery changed when you were younger?"

Valory: Auntie just told me, that if anything happened to them, I could just put them in the drawer and everything would be fixed, as long as I left one in the drawer."

Researcher: "Your Aunt doesn't sound like the best woman, she kept you locked in the house and told you that people were monsters."

Valory is becoming visibly upset, and has begun rocking in her chair

Researcher: "You do also know that they are just inanimate objects, they have no feelings, they cannot think, and they won't get hurt?"

Valory: "You [Expletive]!"

|Valory attempted to lung across the table at the Researcher, but was quickly subdued by the Security Officer in the room.|

<End Log: 8:54 AM>
Closing Statement: Valory ██████ has refused any further interviews. After three days without any progress, amnestics were administered and she was sent back the psychiatric hospital.
