SCP-XXXX producing a slime mold
Item #: SCP-XXXX
Object Class: Euclid
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is to be maintained at all times by three (3) level two personnel at Bio-Research Site 66. Temperatures should approximately rest between 74 Degrees Fahrenheit and 64 Degrees Celsius in order to sustain humidity. The mister system will need to turn on every 30 minutes for suitable damp conditions. Once empty, the oxygen tank is to be frequently changed with a new supply in stock. Banana slugs (genus Ariolimax) should be present in the chamber to control the colonies of SCP-XXXX.
Before testing, personnel must wear respirators to avoid inhalation of spores. Plastic and rubber gloves causes SCP-XXXX to decompose; Therefore, personnel must wash their hands with soap after handling SCP-XXXX. The airlock valve located on top of the cell must be closed properly after experimentation finishes. Any individual affected by SCP-XXXX's mind altering properties should immediately be given a single batch of stir-fried oyster mushrooms (Pleurotus ostreatus) for consumption.
Description:SCP-XXXX is an unidentified species of polyphyletic fungi, with a mass measured around 260 kilograms. It possesses unusual characteristics rarely seen in other species such as a hollow cap covering 92% of the stalk, gills located on the bottom of SCP-XXXX's base, a soft and squishy texture, and strong reactions to latex and recycled materials. In cold conditions, SCP-XXXX will produce a blue pigmented slime mold that emits steam while it coats the cap partially.
When a human subject is in the presence of SCP-XXXX, it releases a cloud of spores that will travel to the nasal cavity, through the larynx, and into the lungs, surpassing any air filter in the process. Once it reached the lungs, the victim will have a sudden desire to eat SCP-XXXX. It is unknown how SCP-XXXX is able to persuade the minds of its victims, although it is theorized that the spores will then travel to the veins and into the stomach, eating recently consumed food. Subjects that have eaten the slime mold and SCP-XXXX describe it as "very savory" and "really tasty 'chicken'".
Despite the high percentage of psilocybin and psilocin contained in SCP-XXXX,
