Item #: SCP-XXXX
Object Class: Euclid
Special Containment Procedures: Due to its cognitohazardous abilities, SCP-XXXX is to be contained in a 3 m x 4 m x 3 m chamber hidden in an underground containment zone, carefully designed using five thick layers of reinforced steel, as to prevent it from phasing through any cracks or holes it may create.
Chamber is to be heavily guarded at all hours of the day, and must be checked once every week for any signs of attempted escape. Personnel working with SCP-XXXX are required to have proper optical protection when working with the entity at all times.
Description: In appearance, SCP-XXXX resembles a spectral entity of humanoid shape that roughly measures at around 170 centimeters in height. Tests have proven that, despite its similar appearance to that of a Humanoid Apparition, it is an entity made of a yet unknown gaseous substance, which it can freely manipulate into any shape and form.
This substance, while entirely nontoxic to biological tissue, is incredibly corrosive when in contact with metal of any kind, slowly eating away at it over the course of several days. It has been observed that certain metals take longer to dissolve when in contact with it than others would, with steel being the most resistant.
When subjects make direct eye contact with SCP-XXXX, they will enter a state of hyperthymesia, where they will relive every moment in time where they have experienced immense feelings of guilt and will enter a state of extreme emotional distress. After approximately 5-10 minutes after viewing SCP-XXXX, subjects will begin to hear a feminine voice, presumed to be SCP-XXXX, speaking to them, offering to take their pain away in exchange for favors requested from it.
Subjects may either accept or decline this offer, and results may vary depending on the past actions of the subject involved (for more information, see Test Log). Requests range from being very minor, such as strands of hair, to very major, such as releasing SCP-XXXX from its containment. If a subject takes a long time to complete a specified task, they will begin to become desperate, and their methods for completing a task will become more violent and dangerous, often leading to the deaths of several foundation personnel.
Subjects who do not accept the offer will hear no word from the voice again and will continue to grow more stressed and anxious as days go by. Subjects will begin to show signs of insomnia, hair loss, and accelerated aging due to the immense stress that they are put under. Death usually follows 2-4 weeks after exposure to SCP-XXXX, usually from Cardiac Arrest or Suicide. The only known way to impede this effect is to administer Class-A amnestics to the affected individual.
Test Log SCP-XXXX
Test #1
Subject: D-4951
Known Past Events: D-4951 was incarcerated due to repeated offenses involving armed robbery charges.
Date 19/2/19██
Results: Subject D-4951 was placed in the containment cell of SCP-XXXX and instructed to look at it. Once she complied, SCP-XXXX turned to face D-4951, and she immediately fell to the ground and began making whimpering sounds. After approximately 7 minutes, D-4951 lifted her head to look around the chamber and appeared to be intently listening to something she heard. A minute later, she nods her head and starts to bit into her fingernails, ripping each one out until she had none remaining, at which point, her demeanor and expression began to change as she calmed down and was instructed to exit the chamber.
After the test, D-4951 told personnel that she didn't recall much relating to her exposure to SCP-XXXX, except for an odd voice telling her to
Test #2
Subject: D-5770
Known Past Events: Arrested after confessing to the murder of an entire family during a family picnic when ████ █████ was falsely imprisoned for the crime and proceeded to kill several inmates after incarceration.
Date: 20/6/20██
Results: When placed inside SCP-XXXX's chamber, D-5770 made eye contact with the entity and immediately began sobbing and mumbling incoherently. After five minutes, D-5770 snapped his head up with a panicked expression on his face which shifted to unease seconds later. D-5770 displayed a mortified expression on his face after a few moments before before violently shaking his head before being called back.
When asked what D-5770 had experienced, he began shaking before explaining how he heard a voice telling him to [DATA EXPUNGED]. D-5770 was found dead three weeks later, hanging via a makeshift noose with a depiction of SCP-XXXX scratched into his cell wall.
Test #3
Subject: D-41004
Known Past Events: D-41004 was a former high-ranking foundation personnel member who began conducting unauthorized and illegal tests on D-Class personnel using SCP-███ and was given Class-F amnestics before this test was authorized.
Date: 6/7/20██
Results: Upon being exposed to SCP-XXXX, D-41004 began complaining about a slight ringing noise in his ears that seemed to be getting louder. After D-41004 was told to continue looking at SCP-XXXX for ten minutes, he began to note that he was feeling dizzy before collapsing after three minutes of exposure.
After regaining consciousness, D-41004 noted that while unconscious, he vividly saw himself torturing people and described it as nothing more than an odd dream. Further exposure to SCP-XXXX revealed no new information regarding his identity before having his memory wiped.
