Item #: SCP-XXXX
Object Class: Euclid
Special Containment Procedures:
Description: SCP-XXXX appears to be a medium sized mirror, 0.9 meters (3 feet) tall and 0.6 meters (2 feet) wide. The wooden frame is made of Oak wood and is slightly worn from age. Upon first observation of SCP-XXXX, nothing appears to be out of the ordinary, reflecting normally.
Upon a person asking a question while looking at SCP-XXXX, the reflection shall change into an image that answers the question being asked. Most answers are displayed as pictures but has been shown to display answers in text as well. See Testing-Log-XXXX below. Only the person that asked the question is capable of seeing the answer displayed by SCP-XXXX. All other people looking at SCP-XXXX will continue seeing a normal reflection. Should the person who asked the question break eye contact with SCP-XXXX, the reflection will return to normal.
SCP-XXXX can only predict the future a maximum of 5 years into the future. SCP-XXXX will not answer questions exceeding this time limit. Similarly, questions pertaining to the origins of SCP-XXXX will be met with the same effect.
Testing of SCP-XXXX is underway to predict future containment breaches. Testing canceled due to memetic effects of SCP-XXXX. See Addendum XXXX-a for more details.
SCP-XXXX has been shown to create memetic effects in personnel that are within 20 feet of SCP-XXXX and have had prolonged exposure to SCP-XXXX. Interaction with SCP-XXXX seems to accelerate this process. Symptoms are as follows:
- 0 - 1 hours: No effects present.
- 1 - 3 hours: Personnel seem anxious and show signs of slight paranoia. Personnel report a feeling of "being watched".
- 3 - 6 hours: Paranoia worsens, personnel often looking behind them. Minor auditory hallucinations are reported by them. Personnel act irrational.
- 6 - 10 hours: Personnel show signs of mental distress, showing signs of severe paranoia accompanied by auditory and visual hallucinations. Personnel begin exhibiting signs of agitation.
- 10 - 48 hours: Personnel go insane, often screaming, crying, and are subject to frequent panic attacks.
- 48+ hours: Personnel soon enter a catatonic state and will remain that way until removed from the vicinity of SCP-XXXX.
Symptoms wane over the next 24 hours, after being removed from the presence of SCP-XXXX.
