Item #: SCP-XXXX

Object Class: Euclid

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX-1 is to be kept in a standard humanoid cell and can be provided with means of entertainment, provided that no reflective surfaces enter the cell. SCP-XXXX-1 is only to come into contact with reflective surfaces during testing, which are to be viewed remotely via live video feed.

Description: SCP-XXXX-1 is a caucasian human male, who answers to the name "David", and was found in the town of [DATA EXPUNGED], Alaska, United States. It has a scar on the left side of its face, located next to the eye. When SCP-XXXX-1 comes into contact with a reflective surface, SCP-4574-2 appears in the surface. Instead of the scar being on the left side of the face, like a mirrored image, the scar is on the opposite side, as if SCP-XXXX-2 is a duplicate of SCP-4574-1 who is facing SCP-4574-1.
SCP 4574-2 is sentient, and has the ability to communicate verbally.
SCP-4574-2's effects take place when a human subject is reflected on the same surface as SCP-XXXX-2. Subjects report nausea, paranoa, and dizziness, as well as the sensation of being followed by a "mysterious entity."
If the subject continues to be in the presence of SCP-XXXX-2 for 2 minutes or more, SCP-XXXX-2 will "follow" them, and appear behind or beside them in any reflection. For most subjects, this effect ends after 25-30 days.
For other subjects, SCP-XXXX-2 will continue to stalk them for another 5-10 days. Afterwards, they lose any sort of reflection on any surface. There is no apparent permanent pattern that decides which subjects reach the second stage. (See Addendum 1a)
No subjects who experience this stage survive.
11 days after the subject's reflections disappear, they begin to cough up blood and shards of glass, which are coated like those of a mirror. Afterwards, large pieces of glass emerge from the eyes, nose, and throat. The subject then cuts each finger lengthwise with the shards of glass in the eyes. Long, thin sheets of glass then slices in between each rib. The exact nature of SCP-XXXX-2 is unknown.
Addendum:
1a. SCP-XXXX-2 does not have a permanent pattern or preference for victims. Instead, it uses a temporary pattern for random periods of time. So far, its targets have been:

  • Females ages 20-30
  • Males of a Middle-Eastern descent
  • Anyone with Italian ancestors
  • Males 25,27,and 42 years old who were born in the month of January
  • Females with blue or green eyes who were born on the second of any month
  • Anyone with red hair who was born in the North East United States
  • Members of the LGBTQ+ community who were born in the summer
  • African Americans who had a younger sibling whose first name started with the letter A

Interviewed: SCP-XXXX-1

Interviewer: Dr. ████

<Begin Log>

Dr. ████: (*checking notes*) David, is it? Please tell me about your experience with SCP-XXXX-2

SCP-XXXX-1: SCP-XXXX-2? I assume you're talking about the mirror thing, right?

Dr. ████: Yes
Dr. ████ And when was that?

Dr. ████: Can you tell me anything about the nature of SCP… Echo?
Dr. ████: Have you met any others like Echo?
<End Log, [optional time info]>

Closing Statement: *It seems entirely plausible that SCP-XXXX-2 is either part of a larger entity, or that there are more like it.
