Special Containment Procedures:
Civilian space programs are not to be allowed to pass lunar orbit (or 378100 kilometers from the earths surface) until SCP-XXXX has been disabled. The United States government has agreed to limit lunar and solar colonization efforts and to hand over primary research to Area 32 until all instances of SCP-XXXX have been disabled. Similar deals are in negotiation with Russian, Chinese, and Indian leadership under the Miranda accords. Foundation assets are granted full use of American space resources for research into SCP-XXXX.
Foundation operatives are to monitor civilian observatories for mention SCP-XXXX, however, due to the size and location of the anomalies detection is unlikely. On-site research is to be conducted by robotic operatives.
Description:
SCP-XXXX consists of fourteen (14) eigenweapons located on the surface of the moon. Each weapon is contained in a solid black pyramid of base 200 meters and a height of 1000 meters. When activated the pyramidal surface will fall back to revival a direct kinetic weapon capable of firing a metallic slug at speeds up to .9c and delivering a maximum 2.12 exa joules of kinetic energy.
The first set of 8 is located across the lunar equator at 45-degree intervals and intersect the second set at the 90-degree lunar meridian. The second set starts at the equator and follows the 90 degrees meridian, each instance is separated by 45 degrees. Together SCP-XXXX has 360-degree coverage of the night sky and no discernible blind spots.
When a manned spacecraft passes lunar orbit the instance of SCP-XXXX that is closest too the spacecraft will activate. After one minute seventeen seconds of tracking SCP-XXXX will launch a metallic slug at the spacecraft. The slug in 100% of tests has destroyed the spacecraft. Robotic exploration units and Foundation faster then light spacecraft have not triggered SCP-XXXX.
SCP-XXXX is subject to a constant data stream theorized to occur every 4 earth days, corresponding with a burst of gamma radiation. The mechanism for this data transfer is unknown though it is unlikely to be electromagnetic based. This communication method has proven to be extremely detrimental to human health and direct human contact with the SCP-XXXX sites should be limited.
The purpose of the three weapons pointing towards earth is currently unknown.
Addendum XXXX.1:
As of 1966 the existence of SCP-XXXX was known to American and Russian governments. In 1972 the Foundation expressed interests in a joint covert mission with the Americans to SCP-XXXX for direct observation. The mission resulted in the death of two of the three astronauts and cancellation of the American space program. Further research was postponed until the establishment of Area 32.

In Attendance:
- U.S. Government Secretary of State William Rogers
- U.S. NASA Director of Lunar Programs Dr. Hinner
- U.S. Pentagram Liaison Director Winston Bishop
- SCP Foundation Director of Diplomatic Unit Bert Mackline
- SCP Foundation Director of Lunar Anomaly Research Sophie May
[SCP] Director Mackline: Let's get started. I would like to start by offering a special thanks to NASA director Dr. Hinner for joining us.
[NASA] Dr. Hinner: And I would like to offer a special thanks to the SCP Foundation, which some how turned a scientific mission dedicated to the advancement of human kind into a wonderful opportunity to murder two astronauts. Quite impressive.
[SCP] Director May: I would like to make it clear, we had no idea the properties of SCP-XXXX. We came in just as blind as the US government.
[PENT] Liaison Bishop: When has that ever been the case? Even on American soil you spoofs some how know more then us about our own backyard.
[USA] Secretary Rogers: Could we please keep this discussion on the events of February the third. That is what we are here to discuss is it not? Has our friends at the Foundation been able to discern what these things actually do? Besides make our astronauts cut fuel lines.
[SCP] Director Mackline: Uhh…well actually we know exactly what they do.
[PENT] Liaison Bishop: Ah, you don't say.
[SCP] Director Mackline: Two weeks ago the Foundation rocket "Icarus" attempted to pass lunar orbit.
[PENT] Liaison Bishop: hmmmm, why did you do this? I wonder?
[SCP] Director May: We had a theory.
[PENT] Liaison Bishop: When were you expecting on sharing this theory with us? How about when we burned more tax payers dollars on rockets so we can slaughter more astronauts?
[USA] Secretary Rogers: Please gentlemen, lets try to keep this civil. Director Mackline what happened to your rocket.
[SCP] Director Mackline: Approximately one and half minutes after passing lunar orbit it was destroyed will all hands lost. Satellites reviled that this correspond with the activation of SCP-XXXX-5. The pyramids observed by our astronauts appear to contain a large weapon, capable to destroying space craft.
Silence…
[USA] Secretary Rogers: How has this not happened before?
[SCP] Director May: No human has ever passed Lunar orbit. Icarus is the furthest humans have ever been into the solar system.
[SCP] Secretary Rogers: Do we know if this will happen consistently?
[SCP] Director May: Our working theory is that SCP-XXXX acts as a sort of barrier, stopping us from sending manned craft beyond lunar orbit.
[NASA] Dr. Hinner: Hercules was suppose to be announced next month. Are you saying we can't get to mars?
[SCP] Director May: It is the Foundations current belief that any mission beyond lunar orbit will end in disaster. Furthermore we currently have no ability to disable or deactivate SCP-XXXX.
[PENT] Liaison Bishop: Ok my vote is simple. Nukes. How strong can these things be? And you said they only shoot bullets at space shit. Lets nukem and see what happened.
[SCP] Director May: That….Thats not all. [Shuffling of papers can be heard] There was another test…
[USA] Secretary Rogers: You…You killed another person?
[SCP] Director Mackline: At this point it was only a working theory, we also didn't know exactly what to look for. Two days ago Icarus two passed Lunar orbit and was destroyed.
[PENT] Liaison Bishop: What is that? 4 astronauts killed in 2 months? Some kind of record.
[SCP] Director Mackline: Using satellite imagery and knowing which instance would fire we could get a good reading on the speed and size of the projectile fired. Director May will you please explain…
[SCP] Director May: As of yesterday, the Foundation researchers at Site 66 were able to discern the speed and mass of the projectile. Current mass is estimated to be 27.8 kg. Reaching a top speed in .01 seconds of around 90 percent the speed of light. The kinetic energy is approximately equivalent to one thousand five hundred and eighty-three Hiroshima detonations.
Silence…
[USA] Secretary Rogers: Director May, how many of these are pointing towards earth.
[SCP] Director May: Three. Two are also able to fire on satellites and objects around earth. However it is possible that a wider range of angles is available, worst case scenario SCP-XXXX- 1 through 11 can fire on earth.
[NASA] Dr. Hinner: How long do this things take to arm and fire?
[SCP] Director May: One minute seventeen seconds exactly for both Icarus missions. We have only ever seen a single shot fired, however it is possible they have a much higher rate of fire.
[USA] Secretary Rogers: Let me get this straight. You are saying that there are at least three essentially thermonuclear launchers aimed at us right now, capable of arming and firing in under two minutes with no advanced notice?
[SCP] Director May: There would be no radiation but yes essentially. At at 90 percent the speed of light it is likely we would be unable to prevent any attack.
[NASA] Dr. Hinner: This…This is not good.
[END LOG]
Addendum XXXX.3
On ████/██/███ the activation of SCP-████ caused SCP-XXXX-1 to arm. After 3 hours an intense gamma burst was released from SCP-XXXX-1 and the weapon disarmed.
