Item #: SCP-XXXX
Object Class: Safe
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is to be contained in a standard rifle suitcase, equipped with barrel and trigger safety features and locked at any moment in a CO2-rich chamber to prevent accidental firing.
Description: SCP-XXXX have been identified as a pre-WW1 Gewehr 98 bolt-action rifle, registered under the number plate 01928. While the firearm might seem a standard rifle, tests conducted in a firing range revealed that this model improved subjects’ precision and accuracy, always resulting in direct hits.
However, live targeting is not suggested. Firing towards live targets will create a localised space-time distortion phenomena that reflects the bullet onto the shooter. Tests with Class-D personnel have showed this recurrent event and often resulted in subjects termination.
Ammunitions for SCP-XXXX is specific-wise and only SCP-XXXX-1 cartridges can be fed and fired upon targets. Replication methods of SCP-XXXX-1 are still not clear. For this reason, the remaining cartridges are kept locked for important testing only.
SCP-XXXX-1 have the tendency to blow-up more often than standard cartridges.
SCP-XXXX was originally retrieved and secured by french Gendarmes the 23rd October 1968, after receiving an emergency call. A man by the name of █████████ and his victim were found dead with the weapon in hand and a gunshot hole in his head. Witnesses could not tell exactly what happened to the shooter, having died unexpectedly after the first bullet was shot. Only one casing and a fragment were found in the crime scene. Extensive investigations could not determine the shooter's death.
A month after this event, French SCP agents intervened and seized the weapon with its cartridges complement.
Addendum A: SCP-XXXX-2, Patrone 88 or M/88 cartridges, were recently found and collected by a private funded treasure finder company. After recovery, SCP-XXXX-2 were tested and deemed too dangerous for testing as subjects’ accuracy and precision were lower than control tests. This lead to a couple of victims and three injured.
Addendum B: First symptoms of World War 1 era hallucinations began to manifest in all second-time users. While feeling yet comfortable to fire, subjects report to feel immersed in a battlefield environment and actually fighting the enemy.
Immediate termination of subjects ████ and ████ after diagnosed PTSD and violent behavior.
Addendum C: Site-19 Historians personnel have found through labelled number plate the previous owner of the rifle and printed copies of the 1912, 1914 and 1917 Imperial Army reports where Sgt. Joseph Von Karl, 1st (1st East Prussian) Grenadiers "Crown Prince", was registered as owner of the gun.
