Special Containment Procedures: Foundation webcrawler DemonSearcher is to search for and remove instances of SCP-5321. All other webcrawlers operating on websites that run advertisements are to ignore memetic anomalies associated with SCP-5321-Alpha. SCP-5321-1 has been bought by the Foundation to further integrate SCP-5321-Alpha development with PANOPTICON.

SCP-5321-2

Description: SCP-5321 is set of anomalous web advertisements that cause a mild compulsion to click on them. This effect has been determined to be non-memetic and ineffective against individuals with no inherent desire for the subject being advertised. SCP-5321 instances have been found advertising a variety of different products.

Upon clicking on an SCP-5321 instance, web browsers will attempt to load SCP-5321-2, an anomalous website developed by SCP-5321-1. SCP-5321-2 will display a simple message loosely associated with the claim of the SCP-5321 instance, and a green Accept and a red Deny button. Pressing the Deny button will close the browser tab and no further anomalous activity will occur. Should the Accept button be pressed, SCP-5321-2 will load a congratulations screen and the main anomalous effects will manifest. Individuals affected by SCP-5321 will have a sharp increase in self-destructive and reckless activity, typically related to the type of SCP-5321 instance they clicked on. For a period of 6-14 months, they will find great success and happiness in these pursuits despite the extremely low probability of them working out well. After this period, the probability of these behaviors becoming destructive increases back to normal levels, and 86% of individuals perish in 4 years.

Foreward: On 02/15/18, MTF Kappa-12 "High Rollers" conducted a raid on an anomalous offshoot of the Consumer Electronics Show known colloquially as the Occult Electronics Show. It was suspected that there were Tartarean-class entities involved in activities banned by the Vegas agreement, and one booth was discovered displaying demonic programing related to SCP-5321. Entity manning the booth was brought in for questioning (designated SCP-5321-B).

SCP-5321-B is brought in by guards and sat down in front of Dr. Vern, who is shuffling papers around from the last interview. SCP-5321-B is restrained with specialized cuffs blessed by on-site priests.

Dr. Vern: Which one is this?

Guard: The one they found in charge of the booth selling demonic tech for online advertisements.

Dr. Vern: Um… yes here. I see marked as potentially related to SCP-5321. So, are you the one responsible for those godawful ads we find ruining peoples lives?

SCP-5321-B: I'm just a back-end coder, I don't actually make the ads. The higher ups do that. I keep telling them we need actual graphic designers but they keep rejecting it saying that I should just fix my code.

Dr. Vern: Higher ups? This sounds like a bigger operation than we thought. You realize you are directly in violation of the Vegas agreement?

Project Jet is a subproject of PANOPTICON, utilizing properties of SCP-5321 to report on data extractable from a Tartarean Resonant Link. This currently includes emotional state, ambient Akiva radiation, limited visual acquisition, and spiritual purity. Algorithms are currently under development to assist in interpreting Tartarean Resonant Link energy signatures based on exposure to various known anomalous properties¹.

On 02/18/18, the Foundation altered the Vegas agreement to allow for cooperation with SCP-5321-B and its employers. SCP-5321-B will work alongside the Memetics Department and RAISA's surveillance division to develop SCP-5321-Alpha. SCP-5321-Alpha is self-propagating software designed to insert advertisements similar to SCP-5321 onto existing websites. SCP-5321-Alpha instances no longer carry a compulsive effect with them, and instead has been coupled with memetic triggers designed by the Memetics Department to induce individuals who see it to click on it and then forget about it.

Due to the nature of SCP-5321-Alpha, behavioral changes are expected of individuals who are subjected to the link. This effect has been greatly diminished from SCP-5321, and no longer carries the time limit as the energy required to transmit data only across the link is equal to ~5 kCal. SCP-5321-Alpha has also been altered to target increase in behaviors that have been determined to be non-detrimental. So far, the following are all behaviors attributed to SCP-5321-Alpha:

• 5% increase in gambling tendencies
• 7% increase in divorce rates
• 3% increase in abortion rates
• 12% increase in Freemasonry
• 0.1% reduction in Mass attendance²
• 26% increase in acceptance of fornication³ as acceptable behavior⁴
• 2% increase in thaumaturgic abilities at birth⁵
