Item #: SCP-XXXX
Class: Euclid
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is to be secured in site-66. The specimen is to be contained in a 5 cm by 5 cm small container, and to be suspended 3 to 4 meters from the ground. Its chambers are to be covered with inorganic material, and personnel are required to wear impermeable whole-body suits. The chamber walls are to be maintained every 2 weeks, to check for any biological material. In the instance of finding unusual organic matter within the walls, please immediately report to the lead researchers of SCP-XXXX for testing.
Staff should exercise extreme caution in handling SCP-XXXX, and under no circumstances can the specimen leave its chambers unless authorized by Class-4 personnel.
Staff are not allowed to bring any instance of contained water within SCP-XXXX's chambers, including but not limited to: bottled water, small canteens, and small vials. For any further questions regarding containment, please report to the research team.
Description: SCP-XXXX is a small grass seed, 10mm in length and approximately 4mm in width. No known biological relative is known of the specimen, but the physical appearance of the fully sprouted seed bears resemblance to Paspalum conjugatum, a tropical grass plant. The Specimen is known to grow in a rapid rate when any exposed biological substance enters a 15-meter radius around it.
SCP-XXXX immediately grows stolons with fully grown leaves towards the biological matter, ignoring the material it sprouts upon. This new organism shall be referred to as SCP-XXXX-2 After contact with biological matter, it spreads rapidly. The specimen first fully covers the said matter, before entirely replacing it with SCP-XXXX-2, essentially 'consuming' said matter. The entire process from exposure to consumption lasts between 10 to 20 seconds, regardless of the biological matter's size, shape or material.Any form of organic matter is subject to its consumption.
When placed in non-anomalous soil with contained water1 within 30 meters of the specimen, It slowly grows stolons outward, in a circular fashion, covering the surface of any non-biological matter in reach. It continues to grow until the aforementioned 30 meters have been reached, or SCP-XXXXb comes into contact with [REDACTED]2.
