Item #K019: SCP-XXXX Soothsayer

Object Class: Keter

Special Containment Procedures:

Accommodating the entity requires a containment chamber that is reinforced with steel cylinders along with inert gas to keep the entities radioactivity levels from harming other SCP's or Foundation personnel as it shows a reading of 8,000,000 becquerel. The chamber is half a kilometer below Site-17 and a new level was created below the lowest existing level in order to safely contain the entity. The containment chamber is sealed airtight so that none of the radioactive substance that the entity excretes can seep through the doors. The substance the creature produces, though radioactive, is molecularly similar to mammalian blood. Because the entity discharges several gallons of radioactive liquid a day, it must be collected and put into dry cask storage containers that are then sent to Yucca mountain in Nevada to be stored. Shifts for guarding the entity can only be for up to six hours at a time with a period of two weeks away from the cell mandatory between shifts due to excessive radiation levels. During hour watch period, even though the D-class personnel that have been assigned to the post are equipped with hazmat suits, they are to be given treatment for exposure to about 0.06 millirem of radiation after each shift.

Description:

SCP-XXXX can be described as a living sentient human dermal. The entity has no skeleton or muscle tissue. The entity emits dangerous amounts of radiation through its mouth and eye holes in the form of a radioactive blood-like liquid that ranges in color from dark purple to pink and orange. The entity has no vocal chords and though it is capable of speech, it must first find a host, or "substrate" before it can talk. SCP-XXXX moves its body just as a snake does and can slither at a pace of up to ten miles an hour.

SCP-XXXX uses it's radioactivity to administer a dose of over 100Sv of radiation that instantly gives the victim stage four cancer and makes them too sickly to move on most accounts. The victim is also blinded by the attack. The blood the entity produces apart from being radioactive, is an extremely slippery and non-viscous substance. Most victims loose their sight and slip onto the floor, giving the entity an opportunity to swallow the victim from the feet to the head. Once the SCP-XXXX has swallowed the substrate, it may use the body to walk and to communicate and do do other humanly activities.

Research has shown that the victims of SCP-XXXX are still alive while they wear the entity, though it has been concluded that the victims show no sign of brain activity while under the control of SCP-XXXX. D class personnel have been used as substrates in the past and the entity has used the hosts to communicate to various researchers at Site-17.

The entity has been interviewed three times by Foundation personnel and each time it has foretold an end of the world scenario. An investigation after the first prophecy the creature told led to the discovery that the entity was foretelling events that were actually coming into fruition. The Foundation was able to change the events of the future and presumably averted the disasters that the entity predicted. Each time SCP-XXXX would be reinterviewed however, there would be another end of the world disaster that the Foundation would have to intervene with based on the information given by the entity.

After the third interview, it was speculated that it was more likely that it was the creature that was causing the scenarios it predicted and that these scenarios would only become real after the entity spoke it out loud. Thus interviewing the entity has been discontinued.

Many researches voiced the view point that if the Foundation does not interview the creature, it will not know how to prevent the next end of the world scenario, and argued that it was not the creature causing these events, they believed the creature was a tool to be used in combatting the apocalypse.

Addendum:

The entity has been described to be of cunning intellect and is charismatic and witty in conversation. Many of the interviewers of SCP-XXXX have been reassigned to different SCPs due to their bond building relationship with the entity. In January of 2015 five Foundation researchers petitioned to have the entities substrate privileges back. The researcher who spearheaded the campaign, Melody Lakes, was taken off of SCP-XXXXs case after the petition was denied. At 1100, Melody entered SCP-XXXX containment chamber without a hazmat suit and lay prostrate on the bloody floor as a willing substrate for SCP-XXXX. After swallowing Lakes, it was decided that an interview with the entity and its new substrate would not be conducted however this decision was overturned after the entity began foretelling a new prophecy to the camera within its containment chamber.
