Special Containment Procedures:
SCP-5156 can be contained in a standard weapons locker. Non-MTF personell are allowed to extract SCP-5156 after completing a test on mental stability and after approval of at least two other researchers. Additionally, a written explaining of the reasons of the extraction has to be approved by at least 3 other foundation personell assigned to the SCP.
MTF are allowed to request SCP-5156 for missions at least two weeks in advance. They have to return it after returning from the mission.
Description:
SCP-5156 is a metal rod made of an unknown, non-magnetic and rustfree metal. It is 1m in length and 3cm in radius. Its weight is around 5,48 kg. Melting point of said metal is unknown and can‘t be found out by any means currently known.
If SCP-5156 is touched by a sentient being1, it instantly transforms into the weapon the individual can use best in the situation. During the process SCP-5156 will obtain all qualities of the weapon type, including heat resistance and material durability.
Transformation appears to be around 0.001sec long and can‘t be perceived by any currently known means.
SCP-5156 changes back into its original form 47min and 36sec after it is removed from a radius of 1.5m from the individual. Giving it to another Individual during this time period will cause the weapon to transform into the weapon the second individual can use the best.
This far SCP-5156 has transformed into handguns, knifes, machine guns, MPs, assault rifles, bows, axes, scissors, grenade launchers, shovels, swords, steel pens, clubs, boxing gloves, throwing darts, flamethrowers and [[data expinged]].2
If the weapon is a weapon usually requiring ammunition, it doesn‘t require any. After emptying the usual magazine size of guns a click can be heard and the weapon is able to shoot on.
Upon examination after disassembly of multiple weapons the magazine was found to be empty. Inserting another magazine proved impossible due to it not fitting. Despite of this fact, guns eject bullets and shells as normal and cold weapons such as bows shoot arrows that spontaneously appear in the wielder‘s hand not currently holding the weapon after firing. If both hands are holding the weapon, ammunition appears on the ground no more than 30cm away from the wielder. Ammunition has proven to be non-anomalous.
The weapons are not able to overheat or break otherwise.
Addendum:
If the wielder focusses on an exact weapon model before using SCP-5156, it can transform into the weapon as long as it is suited for the situation.
SCP-5156 can transform into fictional weapons if the wielder can concentrate hard enough on all properties the weapon should have. Fictional weapons are not very stable and transform back into SCP-5156 if the wielder loses concentration on them for longer than 30sec.
SCP-5156 was found at the site of a murder and a suicide in [[data expunged]], Texas in March 19, 20XX The SCP was extracted after a police officer picked up SCP-5156 from the hands of the corpse of a man after the man killed his family and shot himself using SCP-5156 and reported finding a Glock 19 in his hand instead of the rod he picked up.
