Special Containment Procedures: One (1) copy of SCP-[xxxx] is to be kept on a USB drive in a standard storage locker within Site-19. Foundation webcrawlers are to monitor video and file-sharing websites for instances of SCP-[xxxx] and remove them as quickly as possible. Personnel wishing to conduct tests involving SCP-[xxxx] are to obtain Level 3 or higher authorization, and present a detailed list of intended test subjects.

Reclassification of SCP-[xxxx] to Thaumiel-class is under consideration (see Incident A-224). Until then, any Foundation personnel who desire a copy of SCP-[xxxx] for personal use must submit their request to Dr. Miller, who has discretion as to whether to grant such requests.

Description: SCP-[xxxx] is a video file titled “♡ASMR♡ Cute Girl Reassures you [Guaranteed Tingles].mp4", first discovered in early 20██. The video is 30 minutes, 26 seconds long and consists of a static, low-quality image of a female character (drawn in a style reminiscent of Japanese manga, and which does not appear to exist elsewhere on the Internet) over, reportedly, the voice of an unidentified person (designated SCP-xxxx-01), which has been described by listeners as sounding like a young adult woman with a high, soft and nonspecifically American-accented voice. SCP-[xxxx] is also abnormally large given its audio quality and resolution, being 523 megabytes in size.

The audio, as the title suggests, is consistent with the style of "ASMR" videos, in that the audio is binaural and SCP-xxxx-01's voice is heard whispering quietly into the listener's "ears", the intent being to trigger the listener’s ASMR¹. Based on the audio quality, SCP-[xxxx] appears to have been recorded on consumer-grade hardware.

SCP-[xxxx]'s anomalous properties are twofold. Firstly, the video will only play if:

1. a pair of headphones is plugged into the device on which SCP-[xxxx] is playing, and
2. those headphones are being worn by a living human being

Attempting to play the video on any device while these conditions are not met will cause a generic playback error consistent with errors typically shown on the device. This has been confirmed to be the case even if the video is converted to a different format, or if anyone other than the listener attempts to listen in on the video’s content by any means. The video is also confirmed to not play if an animal other than a human being, including any primates, or a cadaver is wearing the headphones.

The second anomalous property is that the “reassurance” given by SCP-xxxx-01 (as suggested by the video’s title) tailors itself to something which is presently causing the listener any kind of distress, be it a topic, a person, or even abstract concepts. In addition, listeners who claim to experience ASMR have also reported common ASMR "triggers" being audible alongside SCP-xxxx-01's voice, such as crinkling plastic, fingernails tapping on various hard surfaces, SCP-xxxx-01 whispering unintelligibly and [REDACTED].

. As only the listener can hear what SCP-xxxx-01 is saying, it is impractical to attempt to compile entire scripts of SCP-xxxx-01’s reassurances. However, repeated testing has revealed that the script always begins with the following quote:

"Hello there. I hope your day is going well! I just wanted you to know that [1-second pause] you don't have to worry anymore. Everything is going to be OK, alright? It's all going to be fine. So close your eyes, and listen to me."

SCP-xxxx was discovered during routine testing of SCP-062, during which it appeared to be running ChromeOS in Welsh. A few seconds after booting, an instance of the [REDACTED] browser (which has not been updated since ██/██/20██) opened, navigating immediately to a page on video-sharing site Dailymotion containing SCP-[xxxx]. The video had apparently been uploaded by an account named “[DATA EXPUNGED]” – which, according to its profile creation date as later crosschecked on another device, apparently did not exist until the very second the browser was opened. The video remained on the website after SCP-062 was shut down, and was thus downloaded by Foundation staff and deleted from the website. At that time, the video had [DATA EXPUNGED] views.

On 24/04/20██, Dr. Knowles, who at the time was assigned [REDACTED]-class SCP-████, was granted a request for a personal copy of SCP-[xxxx]. Knowles reported that, given SCP-████’s nature, [DATA EXPUNGED] was playing on his mind at the time, and so began listening to the video on his office PC at around 9:40 PM that evening.

The video reportedly opened and played as normal, but SCP-[xxxx]-1 reportedly took longer to start speaking than usual after her opening statement, around 20 seconds. The voice was then heard speaking in a 'more serious tone than expected':
“Wow… You’re worried about some big things. Bigger than I’m used to. But don’t panic. I can deal with this. Give me a moment.”

The sound of footfalls leaving a room were then heard, and SCP-[xxxx] then fell silent for the majority of the video before returning at timestamp 30:14 with similar footfalls. The voice then stated, in what was described as a ‘happier’ voice: “There we go! I’ve gone and sorted it all out for you. [DATA EXPUNGED] is alllllll gone. You can rest easy now, honey.”

Dr. Knowles' playback of the video ended at approximately 10:09 PM.

At 10:10 PM that same day, SCP-████ was reported missing from Site-██. CCTV footage from around that time showed an unidentified long-haired woman, whose face was obscured by the camera’s angle, entering the room from off-camera at approximately 10:08:01 PM and looking at SCP-████. In between the frames of the footage at exactly 10:08:49, SCP-████ appeared to vanish, whereupon the woman walked back into the camera’s blind spot. No trace of SCP-████, its anomalous effect or the woman has been found since. It is unknown if the woman in the security footage is or was SCP-[xxxx]-01, and no worries regarding any other SCPs have since provoked the same reaction from SCP-xxxx-01. Tests on other [REDACTED]-class SCPs are pending approval.
