SCP-8347

Item #: SCP-8347

Object Class: Safe

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-8347 is safe, and therefore has to be stored at Site 17. It must be placed in a room lined with soundproof walls.

Description: SCP-8347 appears to be a medium-sized speaker from the 1950s. It measures at approximately 0.5 meters and weighs exactly 98lbs.

When SCP-8347 is within 12 feet of a human(who will henceforth be called SCP-8347-1), it will play the song that person is thinking of on full blast. Therefore, it must be kept in containment lined with soundproof walls. There seem to be no limitations on the music it can play, except that the specified music must come after the 1950s.

Further testing shows that when SCP-8347-1 thinks of a song before the 1950s, SCP-8347 responds with a series of gurgled-up audio, seemingly at random. The same response happens when there are multiple people in its proximity.

SCP-8347 has been declared somewhat sentient, given its ability to read the mind of a human in proximity, at least enough to know the song they are thinking of.

If SCP-8347-1 isn’t thinking of a song, SCP-8347 will play their favorite sound. It has the same restrictions with sounds as it does with songs. The sound in question must come after the 1950s, or SCP-8347 will respond with gurgled audio.
