Special Containment Procedures: All known SCP-XXXX sites must have at least 3 agents on site during operation hours to observe and report anomalies created by the specimen. All sites must have redundant closed circuit cameras observing all storefronts currently showing signs of SCP-XXXX infestation. All camera failures must be reported and repaired prior to the host structure’s operating hours the following day.

For SCP-XXXX-1 through SCP-XXXX-3, assigned agents and low level personnel are to be sent into the sites to make scheduled purchases each month in order to allow the businesses within the host structure to continue operating. These purchases must be spread out and raise no suspicion, each one being no more than $500 at any one store. All non-Foundation fronts that are closing on any of the four sites must be reported immediately. The empty store space will be purchased and replaced with a business front organized by the Foundation.

SCP-XXXX-4 is to be surrounded by a 3.5 meter tall steel mesh fence topped with razor wire. Every 4 meters the fence must have a warning sign designating SCP-XXXX-4’s host structure as a dangerous location due to carcinogenic mold. SCP-XXXX-4 must be monitored twenty-four hours a day by at least two guards wearing police uniforms of the police department of ███ ████, Maryland. Outside civilians approaching the site or attempting to climb the fence are to be removed immediately, provided a Class A amnestics and dropped off at least five km away from SCP-XXXX-4. Non-Foundation entities seen leaving SCP-XXXX-4 are to be apprehended and tested for signs of infection, non-infected subjects will be amnesticised and escorted away as previously noted. Infected subjects are to be deferred to a Level 3-XXXX member for further testing. All external advertising produced by SCP-XXXX-4 is to be blacked out or demolished.

Signs of SCP-XXXX related activity in any location other than the four known sites must be contained or neutralized.

Description: SCP-XXXX is a fungal infestation that takes root in the walls and floors of empty malls space, though it may be able to infect other large structures. Its appearance replicates the texture and color of concrete and drywall, digesting and replacing the original matter of the structure. When rooting into a wall, the specimen is typically less than one square meter during the first few months of infestation. Judging by the progress of the specimen SCP-XXXX-4, it will grow to 130,000 square meters, encompassing the entirety of its host structure.

SCP-XXXX has displayed the ability to directly manipulate a host structure's facilities. The size of the specimen is directly proportional to the influence it has over the structure. During early stages, it will cause lights to fail, speakers to sound distorted, force drop gates shut, disrupt the architecture of the building and force HVAC systems to cause uncomfortable temperature changes. In later stages, the specimen will manifest growths that appear as intimidating humanoids, often drunks or vagrants, which harass mall employees and patrons.

All manifestations have the goal of forcing patrons and shop owners out of the building through discomfort or financial ruin. Once the host structure becomes fiscally unsustainable and abandoned, SCP-XXXX will bar all entrances, going as far to block windows with it's mass. During this time, it will also destroy any and all monitoring equipment in the building as it purges internal mechanisms. Force can be used to enter the site during this phase, but will be quickly repaired by SCP-XXXX, and may result in a subject becoming locked away within the infected location.

Once a site is left abandoned for a 3 month period, SCP-XXXX will reconstruct the interior of locations within the host structure, prioritizing outwardly visible annex locations. The reconstructed stores will have enticing advertising, offering clothing and other goods at remarkable discounts. Tests have shown these advertisements to be non-memetic but are incredibly alluring to shoppers, preying on natural curiosity. Photographs of SCP-XXXX's advertising shown to control groups reveals that most subjects would enter the location to investigate unless warned of SCP-XXXX potential dangers. The goods within infected stores have been tested to reveal that they are entirely organic fungal matter made to simulate various materials.

If a subject is drawn into an infected space, employees manifested from fungal matter will assist the shopper, encouraging them to try on various garments offered to them. The employees will go as far to offer "secret discounts" to shoppers, targeting personal details such as family or occupational history. How SCP-XXXX obtains this information is unknown.

Any subjects that enter the fitting room or similar enclosed space of an SCP-XXXX infested location will be rapidly overcome with painful headaches, nausea and vertigo, eventually collapsing. During this time SCP-XXXX will insert mycelial threads into the unconscious subject, digesting and replacing much of the original tissue over the course of one hour.

If at least 75% of the subject is infested with SCP-XXXX it will become a mobile extension of the main specimen, able to leave the host structure. These new hosts will then seek out another location, traveling for miles seeking a new host. Once a suitable location is found, the subject will expire inside host structure, releasing microscopic spores and allowing SCP-XXXX to infest the new structure. Infected subjects retain most of their original motor function, but become wholly obsessed with the goal of finding another host structure. This results in the subject often boarding a vehicle and attempting to drive to the next nearest possible host, often speeding and disobeying traffic laws.
