SCP-5000
Item#: SCP-5000
Object Class: Euclid
Special Containment Procedures: All samples of SCP-5000 are to be contained in a glass box within Site [DATA EXPUNGED] no larger than 30 x 30 centimeters. Anyone infected with SCP-5000 is to be contained within a standard humanoid containment cell. No other personnel are to be allowed within a range of 10 meters of infected subjects. Sample of SCP-5000 are allowed within 30 centimeters of each other only with a unanimous agreement of the O5 council. Any areas contaminated with SCP-5000 are to be placed under quarantine, and are to undergo heavy decontamination. Access to contaminated areas is prohibited to all personnel other than Mobile Task Force-[REDACTED]
Description: SCP-5000 is a highly infectious disease, with no anomalous properties unless infected subject is exposed to more than 3 ml of saltwater. If infected subjects are exposed to these levels of saltwater, they are now designated as SCP-5000-1. SCP-5000 will transform into a highly acidic foam if exposed to salt, but will remain infectious, and will transform all organic matter that it touches into the acidic version of SCP-5000, now designated SCP-5000-2. Anomalous properties also appear when samples of SCP-5000 are introduced to each other in a range of 30 centimeters, with samples appearing to crawl towards each other. Once the samples come into contact with one another, they begin transforming all matter around them into this new anomalous sample, designated SCP-5000-3. For this reason, SCP-5000-3 is designated as a class 3 bio-hazard, and is to be neutralized using the 5000 protocol after a full quarantine of Site [DATA EXPUNGED]. When an uninfected person is within 10 meters of an instance SCP-5000-1, the infection rate is 70%. Instances of SCP-5000-1 will become aggressive when uninfected persons are within the 10 meter range, attempting to "dissolve" the skin of uninfected persons using SCP-5000-2, in order to infect them via blood infection. Dissolved skin decomposes rapidly to SCP-5000-2. Below is a table of the results of different infection vectors.
| Source of Infection | Result | Behavior |
| SCP-5000 | SCP-5000-1 | Mostly Passive |
| SCP-5000-1 | SCP-5000-1 | Highly Aggressive |
| SCP-5000-2 | SCP-5000-1 | Highly Aggressive before rapid decomposition into SCP-5000-2 |
| SCP-5000-3 | SCP-5000-3 | Highly Unstable. Neutralize Immediately |
Discovery: SCP-5000 was first discovered on a beach in [REDACTED], by D-5000-1, who was detained after witnessing a sheep dissolve in a large patch of SCP-5000-2, and reporting it to an undercover Foundation Witness Discovery Base posing as a coast guard building. Subject was found to be infected with SCP-5000. Subject was detained under the guise of theft. The beach in question was placed under quarantine. SCP-5000-2 was originally designated as SCP-5000, as it was believed that SCP-5000 originated from the foam. However, testing proved that it was quite the opposite. SCP-5000-3 was discovered when Site-[REDACTED] disappeared in 96 hours, leading to an investigation discovering a 50 kilometer crater full of SCP-5000-3. One pill of SCP-500 was dropped into the edge via drone. Crater reverted to a form of sand that is only found on Mars within one hour. Testing involving SCP-5000-3 is to be conducted with at least one pill of SCP-500 on site to avoid a facility loss.
Note: As of today, Dr. Bright is not allowed anywhere near samples of SCP-5000-2. Anyone who claims to remember "5000 Reasons Why" are to be given class A amnesics.
