Description: SCP-XXXX designates a phenomena affecting religious communities and establishments across the northern hemisphere. The phenomena itself has mostly been documented in only Christian communities, although Muslim, Jewish, Buddhist, and Hindu congregations have also been affected.
SCP-XXXX involves the manifestation of religious figureheads, SCP-XXXX-A instances, appearing within the group preaching about the religion to others who already adhere to the faith. Over time, however, these teachings and concepts are warped by unknown means into something only loosely related to the religion these ideas came from. These new concepts often take the form of New Age beliefs and occult ideals heavily associated with subjects like astrology, astronomy, space travel, and music.
Specific teachings on these subjects usually involves the concept of "transcendence" from physical reality to an area known in theological circles as the "Great Paradise". This commonly utilizes practices such as penance and self-harm and in approximately █ cases, mass suicide was involved. Other methods of torture and murder are used such as homicide by strangling, incineration, and knife/gun use. It is believed these are the result of the cognitohazardous nature of the teachings despenced by SCP-XXXX-A instances. These ideas also seem to be very memetically susceptible to other members of the same faith.
SCP-XXXX related teachings are universally monotheistic in nature, despite if there's a presence of multiple gods in the affected religion. If there are other gods within the affected religion, they are usually either ignored, or said to be a different aspects of SCP-XXXX-B, the monotheeistic deity worshiped in SCP-XXXX cases. Not much is known about the SCP-XXXX-B entity itself other than its omniscient and is omnipresent.
