Item #: SCP-XXXX
Object Class: Euclid
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is to be kept in a 15 x 15 m chamber within site 76 with five layers of sound blocking mass-loaded vinyl material lining the walls and door. Staff members researching SCP-XXXX and guards stationed outside SCP-XXXX's chamber are instructed to wear noise cancelling headphones during ongoing tests and observation. Staff will receive these as an addition to standard equipment.
Description: SCP-XXXX is a stone statue of approximately 40 cm in height of a defaced prepubescent child, with the lower portion of the face removed. The statue shows signs of erosion from weather. On the underside of the statue are the remains of a partially scraped off tag, showing an unfamiliar logo and a price of €4,99.
When approached within it's effective range of approximately 10.2 meters, the object will speak as if it was whispering in the subject's ear. Subjects that come within close proximity of the object will perceive soft whispers, and occasional giggles. It relays a single sentence in the form of a rumor. Subjects will believe this rumor true and will develop severe paranoia and anxiety. Approximately two hours after hearing the rumor, if the rumor has not been disproved, subjects develop a red rash around both ears and neck. Should this rumor be passed on verbally or written down, this rash spreads to any other subjects who hear or read it. The method on how this rash transfers is still unknown, and does not seem limited to it's effective range or barriers. Subjects will continue to be subjected to the rash until the rumor has been confirmed to be true or false, or after application of Class A amnestics. Other symptoms caused by SCP-XXXX when these conditions aren't met are insomnia and in most prolonged cases violent tendencies.
SCP-XXXX was recovered on ██-█-19██ in the town █████ from The Netherlands after the Foundation was notified of a considerable increase of violence and several instances of theft, police brutality and riots, suffering numerous casualties. During the recovery of the object, the townsfolk had received a new rumor from SCP-XXXX in which it had stated the SCP Foundation had come to take their children. The object was eventually found in the mayor's back yard.
