Item #: SCP-XXXX
Object Class: Euclid
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is to be kept in a glass container inside a 15 ft. concrete room at Site-23. The containment must be completely sealed off to prevent leaking of SCP-XXXX light. During day, the containment must be observed by at least one staff member. At dawn, if an appointment was granted by Supervisor Dr. Cycle, the object may be transported to Lab Zeta-9 for testing. The object must be sent back to its containment at least half an hour before sunrise. If no appointment was scheduled, the containment must be checked for leaks. The containment must be renovated on a bi-weekly basis.
Description: SCP-XXXX is an 15⁄8" wide A15 series light bulb, which was presumably manufactured in the year 1984 in Ukraine. The object weighs approx. 10 lb, which is about 7 times heavier than any normal A15 light bulb produced by [DATA EXPUNGED]. The reason for this weight is yet unknown.
SCP-XXXX seems to function without any electricity. The source of the power that is supplied to SCP-XXXX is yet to be discovered. The time at which the object emits light seems to correlate to the earth's day-and-night cycle, turning on at sunrise and turning off at sunset.
The light that eminates from the object seems to react to materials like concrete and metals very vigorously, making the material very brittle and unstable. However, the light does not harm living objects.
The light acts as a stimulus for humans and encourages the production of serotonin and dopamin, causing a relaxed and dazed in subjects, from now on referred to as SCP-XXXX-1. The effects of SCP-XXXX is addictive to subjects and withdrawal of SCP-XXXX can cause large discomfort in SCP-XXXX-1. The effects of withdrawal then transform into general unhappiness or in extreme cases depression and suicidal tendencies. These effects only lasted 72 hours, however.
If SCP-XXXX enters its night-phase while the subject is still in direct contact with the light, the effects of withdrawal to SCP-XXXX-1 are extreme anxiety and discomfort. The subject will start hallucinating black figures around him in the room after 15 minutes, while losing cognitive and motoric features, and after half an hour the subject will have lost all perception of the real world. The following effects appear to take place in the subjects mind, and it is mostly unclear what happens to the subjects, since most test subjects lose their ability to speak within an hour after withdrawal. Then, he subject will find themselves in a pitchblack forest, and the subject eyesight. About one hour after withdrawal, the subject will spot SCP-XXXX-1-A in the distance. Upon noticing it, the subject will begin to lose balance and usually fall onto the ground within seconds. The subject will go through extreme panic and stress. SCP-XXXX-1-A will then leap towards the subject. The subject will begin to scream and hold their hands infront of their eyes, then the subject will die of sudden braindeath, while leaving every organ intact.
SCP-XXXX was discovered in a ceiling fan inside of an abandoned restaurant in Pripyat, Ukraine by Foundation personnel on the 16. November 1986, about 7 months after the Chernobyl disaster. Personnel had been scouting for anomalous behaviour after multiple incidents of [DATA EXPUNGED].
