Item #: SCP-5036

Object Class: Euclid

Special Containment Procedures:
SCP-5036 is to be kept facing the floor in a small containment chamber. The room should be lit by no less than 10 2000 lumen lights, lining the perimeter of the room. Should power be lost for any reason, SCP-5036's containment chamber is to be locked until lights are connected to a backup generator. Once per month SCP-5036-1 is to be cleaned out of SCP-5036's battery pack, and either incinerated or brought back for testing.

Description: SCP-5036 is a STANLEY brand flashlight. Regardless of the position of the power button, the lens projects a beam that absorbs almost all light in its path, and it creates pitch black surface where it lands. If a human or sapient SCP sees the beam, especially where it lands, they will involuntarily walk into the path of the beam. Depending on the subject's mental capacity, their control over their movements varies. When removed by force, the subject puts up little to no resistance. The beam itself, however, is the most anomalous part. Any living tissue in the beam's path goes numb and dies within 30 seconds, and SCP-5036 will kill the rest of the organism if the affected limbs are not amputated immediately.

Addendum: During an attempt to remove the batteries from the flashlight, it was found that the battery pack exudes a black, highly acidic viscous substance. This substance, SCP-5036-1, has similar effects to the beam, but it is much more potent, and killed a researcher in seconds. No more termination attempts will be conducted until further notice.
