I have attached the final draft of SCP-QWER's documentation. I will be submitting it for review in 48 hours. Please email me before then if you have any suggestions for edits.
Project Manager,
Dr. Sergei V. R. Mars
Special Containment Procedures
Copies of SCP-QWER are contained in Standard Storage Locker 0278 at Site 73. No new copies of SCP-QWER are to be made without approval from the head researcher1.
Any discussion of SCP-QWER is forbidden outside of testing purposes.2 Personnel who fail to meet these requirements will be administered Class B amnestics and reassigned.
Personnel are only permitted to read SCP-QWER under the instruction of the project manager. Once personnel have completed all tasks and research relating to SCP-QWER, they are to be administered Class B amnestics and reassigned.
Description
SCP-QWER is a memetic agent in the form of a written fictional story. Sapient entities who read approximately 30% or more of SCP-QWER develop the belief that their personal interpretation of the fictional text is the only accurate interpretation.
To clarify, individuals (regardless of previous literary experience) can only observe and rationalize the contents of SCP-QWER in one specific (and usually personal) way, and any attempts to explain the validity of other interpretations of the text ultimately fails.
SCP-QWER's properties also manifest in those who haven't read SCP-QWER, but who have been told of the contents of the fictional story.
Individuals who have read SCP-QWER also demonstrate an inability to peacefully interact with others who have read SCP-QWER. It is unknown if this aggression is a secondary anomalous effect or the natural progression of absolute certainty in one's ideas.
Addendum-QWER-1 — Investigation
Incident SCP-QWER-2020-09-13 — Discovery
[NAMES REDACTED] under the effect of SCP-QWER at [SCHOOL REDACTED].
On 2020-09-13, at approximately 14:30, Foundation personnel were made aware of an unusual series of posts on the social networking service Twitter.com. Several students of [SCHOOL REDACTED], over the course of approximately thirty-five minutes, posted images of and commented on a verbal altercation between several university professors. Video footage of the event3 shows Professors [NAMES REDACTED] arguing in the main courtyard about the grade of a creative writing assignment submitted by an unnamed "student"4. The recording ends after other faculty members forcefully separated the professors.
Those who had seen the recording began to discuss—and then debate—the contents of the recording. Several Foundation personnel also viewed this video, and subsequent psychoanalysis revealed the presence of a memetic effect. Amnestics were administered to anyone who had witnessed the event and all mentions of SCP-QWER were expunged from the public.
Further Investigation
Mobile Task Force Eta-10 ("See No Evil") led the investigation into SCP-QWER. Thorough background checks were performed on suspects, including all involved faculty members and current and previous students. No direct links to any PoI, GoI, or other anomalous objects have been found as of yet.
Copies of other writing done by involved students and faculty were made to compare with SCP-QWER. Analysis of syntax and diction is ongoing in an attempt to match the writing of SCP-QWER to a student or faculty member.
Addendum-QWER-2 — SCP-QWER Incident Report (2020-10-02)
Excerpt From Summary of Incident Report
(2020-10-02)
Present Staff: Dr. Circe Riddles, Dr. Jeong Ji-Hu, Researcher Dusty Østergaard, Researcher Hera Peck, Researcher Ceres Peck
SUMMARY
The project staff (excluding Mars) gathered in a soundproof room to discuss the contents of the story. The goals of this meeting were to:
- Ascertain any possible secondary effects of SCP-QWER, such as possible uncharacteristic aggression while discussing SCP-QWER with others who have been exposed to it.
- Explore possible ways to counteract the (primary) effect of SCP-QWER and convince those exposed to SCP-QWER of the validity of other opinions regarding the anomaly.
